I don't disrespect your opinion but I just don't get it.

Tabby gave a very very mature performance today. He played like he really understands the role of central midfield. Great touches and interplay, always offering himself for support, and importantly rarely gave the ball away and made some vital tackles, comdined with some driving runs I though he was mom ahead of Owusu.

Framps on the other hadn kept making bad decisions.

Teebee's opinion?

Barnsley match reports

thought the ref was blinding, glad to see someone with a bit of nouse about them that doesnt get taken in by cheating bastads like reject Wright (although it looked a pen from brook Rd) and also didnt give yellow cards out like confetti

Barnsley match reports

Excellent first half - best half i've seen this season.

Anyone who thought Tabb played badly today is an idiot - the times he got the ball, got a foot in etc.

The penalty - the worst decision ever?

Barnsley match reports

the weird thing about the penalty was that the player didn't seem to complain very much???
when the ref gave it i couldn't believe it but why no real protest from them???

Had to be pretty serious if he couldn't carry out the challenging responsibilities of a 4th official.
I think the original 4th official had to take over one of the field officials' job so that a replacement 4th was required.
Oh, excuse me. Already answered.

liked the way the 4th official held up the extra time board at the end leaning over the advertising board only to be pushed out to the touchline

Tabby was sh*te today, you can't argue with that but hopefully he can recapture his form of the early season

Very funny, that did make me laugh. The whole team were great today and Tabb and Newman in the middle were immense.

It's simple, reproduce that performance 6 or 7 times and we're up!! Come on lads this must be our year, i've got total faith in the team.

First half was the best we've played all season alongside the Swansea first half.

Canadian bee might have something against Tabb as he also started a thread named 'What's up with Tabby'

Alex looked frightening at times today, his crossing is very dangerous and his ball through to Loyd was inch perfect.

Keep it up Lads!

Newman was absolutely teriffic today. Some fantastic passing, a fabulous run and finish for his goal. He helps us to keep possession of the ball, IMHO much more than in recent seasons. A quality Championship player IMHO. Frampton (Apart from his mis-kick) was also top draw. His positivity and touch/use of the ball is also a joy to watch.

Brooker also, rarely misplaces a pass and uses the ball well. He has such good touch and composure on the ball that I think League 1 players stand off him a little. As they do with Tabby and Pratley. This Bees side keeps the ball very very well...

The Ref sure liked us, you could see the anger in the barnsley end!
Did any1 see that jackass who took of his trousers when barnsley scored!
Terrible goal to conciede, nelson should have been on his line.

Cant believe you are blaming Nelson for the goal....He really expected Frampton to slice it up in the air over him didn't he...

The first half was excellent - Our Bees were well on top and created enough chances to have inflated the score line.

We seamed to dominate the second half without threatening as much. Barnsley pulled one back against the run of play and from a poor position at the other end of the stadium seemed to have a good penalty appeal turned down.

We however were gifted a penalty when our bloke seamed to shoot, miss the ball and fall over :( I had 2-1 at the bookies hut so the goal was met with mixed emotions

Barnsley match reports

A real strange day. Superb football with a homer of a ref, even gave us decisions that the crowd asked for. A top of the table clash that felt too easy and comical at times such as Colgan's yellow card for taking a free kick in the right place, but because we moaned the ref took action. Great performance by all, including Tabb.

Barnsley match reports

Great first half, great performance. We should have scored more during our Total Football period and put the game to bed.

Well done Rhodesy good game, nice to see you back. :sorted:

I can almost smell promotion.

Barnsley match reports

Pratley can't get in the side, Oli's almost back, we're scoring goals without you know who and the timing is all right at the moment. I reckon we could wrap this up well before the Bournemouth match. :bound:

A few more performances like that and even us pessimistic, used to heroic failure Bees fans will really start to believe this is going to be our season..just whisper it very quietly at the moment.

We were excellent, Lloyd & Rankin really gave the pedestrain tykes defence a torrid afternoon. IF they can sustain that level of performance the DJ transfer is looking a sound bit of business.

Midfield was excellent, Newman stamped his authority and experience on proceedings early on and it was as good a performance from Tabby as I've seen in a while...he was industrious, tackled well and showed an excellent range of passing...ball for Newman's opener was sublime. Out wide Rhodes added a considerable threat and he can only get better as match fitness returns. Brooker proved that on a good day he's more than worth his place in the team.

The defence looked pretty solid throughout, considering he was playing out of position Tillen did well and got forward several time and produced quality crosses. Thought Frampton did pretty well too, he's a fully committed no nonsence defender and did it pretty well today. Turner was his usual Mr Reliability and Sodje was well....Sodje. The goal conceded was straight out of the circus...Frampton and Turner were certainly culpable to a degree but not quite sure why Nelson had decided to go on his own charge of the light brigade!

Word on the Ref, was right in line with his decision to book Wright for a dive and he got it spot on, once again Nelson came out like his arse was on fire but Wright definately looked for the pen and dived. As for the Willock penalty, the oppo didn't protest too much and even at £40K surely he can't miss a shot like that without some type of excuse!!!!!

Superb team performance. I have been critical of Newman all season ( rightly I think ) but he gave a good performance today and a decen tfinish from a superb run. But maybe he can and will do this each week. I hope so. MOM Frampton.

Barnsley match reports

11 games left
33 points left
64 points
97 points possbile
I think win our last 4 home games = 80 pts
7 games away = three wins, two draws, two losses = 91
91 points = PROMOTION
Even 6 wins from 11 = 82 (possible promotion)

Well done, bd, for the praise for Newman - nice that you can now see some of the things that he brings to the team. Top marks for making the comment about his performance today, although I have to beg to differ with the bit in brackets, as I suspect a few others may as well:D

:imwith: 100% brings a lot to the team, OK he isn't perfect, but then who is in our team . If they were they would be playing prem football. Onward and upward.

Barnsley Dugout

Was sitting by the dugout yesterday and , you'll have to excuse my stupidness  as I didnt get a programme but who was who in the Barnsley dugout??

We thought the bloke shouting in the red with the hand scrawled intials on his jacket was the boss as he kept shouting and hollering at his players, but then when one of the Northern boys was injured, he ran on the pitch to kiss him better

Also was funny to hear this same bloke saying to MA that the ref was biased ( erm, erm ) and MA's not so polite reply *xx**!!xx*!

Loved the old grandad 4th official as well, MA and AW having to shout up to PG to tell him who was going to be subbed as the silly old sod had no idea how to work the board! rofl

I think Newman is much talked about because his individual displays seem to have a huge effect on the our overall team performance every game.
When he starts well, gets his first tackles in fairly and starts finding his man the players around benefit knowing that he has everything under control, resulting in us running the show.
By the same token, on occasions when he has been slow to the tackle, and appears to be lunging and panicking it appears to set the tone for the whole game and frequently we struggle to get to grips with the game.

Still think that he and Tabby in the middle is the best combo although there may be games where MA feels that he needs to move Tabby to accomodate Darren P especially in games where he needs a more containing midfield, leaving Brooker out of the starting line up.

All in all we need a leader and Newman on his game is that man and I think it'll probably be when he moves on that we'll appreciate what a good job he's done and how he gets the best out of those around him when he's on his game.

The League paper says the same - must all have the same reporter. Also managed to select Cureton in the league 1 team of the day ahead of Owusu. The little S**t must have put in some performance in their 0-0 draw at Yeovil!

AND they manage to have a quite large piece on Sinton without a mention of him playing for Brentford.

I thought they were doing quite a good job until now.....

Mmmmm have just seen football league review on Sky and can see why ref gave the penalty.

Looks like one of their players impeded Willock just before he aired the ball.

maybe not such a silly decision after all!!

i thought the ref must have been right because as i said in a previous post there were no strong complaints from them.
if the ref was wrong (which was my initial impression) they would have been chasing after him.
sounds like it could be well done to the referee! :D :D

About three of theirs did go up to the referee briefly but he was quite clearly not going to be moved. I'm pleased if it was a genuine penalty (though it does take some of the humour out of it), if only because of the harsh criticism hurled at Rankin on the Barnsley web site after the away match in August. He was unfairly branded a cheat by them, which I take to be the reason he got booed so much by them yesterday. I wouldn't like Willock to get the same treatment.

If Rhodes continues to put in performances like that, he has a big future.

Barnsley match reports

A top quality performance.

They were fourth and we didn't give them a sniff. Owusu ran them ragged and looked every inch the striker who will fire us to The Championship.

We have a settled, balanced (except for Tillen) team with quality and fight all over the pitch. If we continue to play like this we will take some stopping.

It's 'Owusu time' 10 out of 10 in the NOTW.

Tabb was excellent, Nelson wouldn't expect Frampton to slice a clearance...

Frampton was otherwise, excellent, really good performance, as was Owusu, Newman and Turner. All in all, a great performance Bees.

Frampton (bar the goal) Lloyd, Newman & Turner were the four I would pick also out amongst a good overall team performance.

The only complaint was that as usual we didn't put the game out of reach by half time !
