I am being a very naughty boy in the early games :nono: Work comittments this year make night games very hard   and therefore my first awayday special will be Barnsley

But, Lo, have just been on the site to book tickets and only ones available seem to be £70 return! :nono:

Has anyone had any luck with a better deal? Why couldn't we have just got promoted and all this would have been a bad dream :owusu:

Anyone, anyone, Beuler? :imwith:

Not starting my first awayday on a motorway, the BPE would point and laugh

I have been looking at this for the last three weeks and have found absolutely nothing of any value.

As Dangerous says 4sight is the best bet, but when you put in St Pancras to Sheffield it tells you to walk to Kings Cross

This is not good .... I am wanting to do my tour again this year, but simply cannot afford £70 odd before I have even started my day :nono:

Which is precisely why I am resuming my driving lessons :sorted: :bound:

Until I pass though its not looking rosy, keep us posted oh train sage WEB please :sorted:

I suspect there are engineering works planned somewhere, it is August Bank Holiday weekend.

I'll make some phone calls, book mine, and then tell the rest of you ;) :sorted:

It invloved abusing the workers in the call centre, I told at least 2 they were clueless, which made me feel a whole lot better, and sweet talking the woman in the Customer Service Centre.

It's not a nice trip but it's better than going by car :sorted:

Don't worry about the intricate detail will you.

lol

I called Midland Mainline Customer Services on 08457 125678 and spoke to someone there, or rather I had to wait for someone to call me back.

Engineering works mean that the only tickets there were saying on web or phone were GNER via Doncaster. I did a search and checked that you could go on Midland Mainline if you got a bus from Bedford to Kettering and then back on a train there. I explained that foursite were available on these trains/buses and asked why I couldn't get one all the way through.

She put some stuff into her machine and booked them for me.

I now have a reference number and can collect the tickets from a station, which may prove to be difficult as I couldn't get them at Richmond

£96 for 8.

It's a long trip, leave St Pancras at 8.00, change at Bedford and Kettering and get to Sheffield at about 12.30.

Return at 7.00 from Sheffield, changing again on the way back, gets in at 11pm.

You need to book a week in advance so I'd move quickly. Call me if this doesn't make sense.

If anyone wants it PM me.

It's not strictly just a train ticket though is it? :D
