Midnight coach. Probably from the half acre. That would have been in the early 70's.
Great numbers when you think it probably took about 10 hours to get there.

Surely they are John Terry's Aston Villa?I actually read ‘Dean Smith’s Aston Villa’ in the paper this week. Seemed more official than when SSN say it.....

I making this all up?
Iirc we won 4-0 then 5-1 then 6-0 early on that season. Peterborough and Northampton being the other 2 sides. I'm sure Rebus will probably tell me I'm wrong though!I remember we played them very early 70’s before they dropped out of the league and remember the 4-0 win.
I think it may have been 1971-2 when we beat Barrow 4-0 at home on Monday then beat Hartlep0ol 6-0 on the Saturday. Two weeks later we beat Peterborough 5-1 also in a home Saturday fixture. The Saturday match in the middle we lost 3-1 away to Grimsby.Iirc we won 4-0 then 5-1 then 6-0 early on that season. Peterborough and Northampton being the other 2 sides. Ýep you're right. Hartlepool not Northampton.I think it may have been 1971-2 when we beat Barrow 4-0 at home on Monday then beat Hartlep0ol 6-0 on the Saturday. Two weeks later we beat Peterborough 5-1 also in a home Saturday fixture. The Saturday match in the middle we lost 3-1 away to Grimsby.
I’m sure I remember spanking Hartlepool by 6 and wouldn’t bet on it without checking but think that was the perfect hat trick game from Big JohnIirc we won 4-0 then 5-1 then 6-0 early on that season. Yep it was and not Northampton.I’m sure I remember spanking Hartlepool by 6 and wouldn’t bet on it without checking but think that was the perfect hat trick game from Big John
Checking on Internet Soccer database, Mon 30 Aug 1971 - the game I mentioned above - was the only time we beat Barrow 4-0 at home.I definitely remember beating Barrow 4-0 but was on a Saturday around 71-72. I remember it because I was at St. Mary's college at the time and a good mate of mine there came with me because his brother was playing for them. Mick Hollis (ex Leicester) was his name , check the line-ups)
Think that might have been Blackburn the following season. Included the best own goal I've ever seen!Yes you're right but I seem to remember it being an afternoon ko and a nice late summers day which it probably was as it was Bank Holiday.
