As any midfielder will almost certainly be first choice until Oli's back, I hope that the loaning club would pick up most of the tab.

Pull all the heart strings, beg, offer first option on Charles etc, we have to be creative and Leroy has to get options in CM. Just look at how many midfielders MA used last season, due to poor form, injury or suspensions.

I hope Leroy can sort a loan signing quick. If not I recall KOC playing centre mid a couple of years back and doing very well for a few games before being decapitated by a big Burnley bruiser during an FA Cup game. If necessary I think KOC should slot in there with Mousinho or Charles (If fit) at right back. Griffiths should definitely be employed at c.back as I thought he formed a good partnership there with Heywood.

Kev is ok in central mid, but is bl**dy excellent at right back, so leave him there me thinks. Just hope we don't try to muddle through, most positions you can mix and match, but central midfield is no hiding place and we need someone asap.

I agree that the better option is to leave KOC at right back and get someone in who plays centre mid week in week out. But if we fail to get a loan signing in I think KOC's the best option we have there, as you said centre mid is not for the faint hearted and at least KOC is adaptable enough to slot in there better than the other options we have. I think centre mid is an area we can not afford to be weak in whereas we can probably afford to just about carry someone at right back, albeit a fit Darius Charles is more than competent to come in there and do a solid job anyhow.

I have a strong feeling that Leroy will not bring anyone in. He is likely to play Griffiths in central midfield with Osborne playing at the back. After that he will either deploy O’Connor, Mousinho or Carder-Andrews to play there depending on injuries, suspensions etc.. I actually quite like the idea of O’Connor coming in and playing in the centre of the park as he has all the attributes to do a good job. Mousinho could then fill in at right back, though when he did last season I thought he struggled.
What also worries me is that if Pinault or Griffiths get suspended or injured we will be in considerable s*%@. For me it’s imperative that at least 1 midfielder comes in on loan.

After watching the goals on TV it makes me worry even more
O'Connor is a good central midfielder, but I'd leave him at full back if possible.
He's weak at right side of midfield though

If only Leroy had assigned some of his budget to the nasty area of central midfield and hopefully brought in some quality in a key area. Instead we award silly money to lightning Heywood, silly contracts to O`Connor & Frampton and then sign a pile of pooh on several occasions.

Thinking that Pinault and Skulasson could hack it in centre midfield was Leroy's biggest mistake. He made it worse by thinking he needed to sign more centre forwards and completely neglecting this area.

With our new acquisitions, are we still "short" in midfield?
KOC can play there, Tillen on the wing, Moushino, Poole, Paed, however from what I can see we seem to have a lot of defence and not much for midfield - pls correct me if I have missed out anyone...
With the quibbling obviously going on for Ricky Ricky Shakes, surely our budget cant be gone already?
I know Heywood is on good money, along with KOC but the the salary offered to Kuffour is a saving, along with Framo's and Rhodes who were I presume were budgeted for this season?

That's not ideal at the moment but we've got 6 new names in already. To me the over reactions are ridiculous. We need a first choice left back and centre midfielder. Whether we can bring them in without moving others on seems unlikely but who knows what might happen in the next few weeks.......

I think we need a CM and a target man up front. To rely only on Ide and A N Other from the squad is a big mistake. I am sure TB/AS will use the CFC relationship to bring in a loanee.
Last season we had no quality in midfield and it cost us big time. Mousinho will improve, but needs a seen it done it with him.

But Butcher has been quite shrewd in getting in players who can play midfield as well as their first choice position. I think we need another CM and a right winger. Shakes will do fine but only if Brooker f***s off.

Heywood and Brooker are massive problems to Butcher and Scott. O'Connor less so as I think he can do a valuable job in midfield despite last season. Heywood and Brooker won't fit into the team at all and that would be a terrible waste of money

I have yet to see any evidence of this. He let us fans down last year and would jump at a move, we need to help facilitate that move.

What makes you think that? I haven't seen anything about him moving anywhere apart from the last transfer window.
