Realised my bees player payment had been recently taken so checked out the latest interviews.The sound quality during Farid and Uwe is very poor unless you like listening to the Heathrow flightpath and the standard during Logans at GP should not be allowed to be broadcast.Maybe the new communications team can sort out a bit of quality controlling.

I couldn't agree more. Nothing like missing half the interview bebause of some noisy jumbo jet driver.

Anyone subscribing to Bees Player please be aware of making sure you print out the subscription reference when they have received your money,as it is not BFC who are receiving the monies in the first instance. Last August, a relative paid for Bees Player as a birthday present for me. I was able to watch it until about May this year when I tried to sign in as usual, and received the message "you no longer have a valid account". After many emails to the company operating the system, and getting nowhere, I reluctantly had to purchase another subscription, albeit 4 months early. Unfortunately, my email to BFC to help on the matter remained unanswered, which was a little disappointing.

Yep same here. Sounds like one of those situations where you should tell them to stuff it if they don't agree to charge the lowest price they have offered but it isn't clear how you can contact anyone about it and I'm not sure I can be bothered spending hours to save a fiver.

Like when they sent out a text saying 'Brentford's game against Brentford has been moved forward 48 hours' referencing the Leyton Orient fixture move. Not sending out multiple e-mails all contradicting one another. Typos on news stories and Facebook ect. Stuff like that.

The company supplying Beesplayer is nothing to do with Brentford FC. Brentford just take a cut of the subs. Is it still PremierTV? Took me ages to sort things out with them a couple of seasons ago. They're not the best as IIRC there isn't a phone number, only email address as contact.

They are called PerformGroup now, but yes its the same people.

Absolutely agree with your comments. The joke of the emails, which I also received, is that due to the Premiertv company messing up my subscription for last year, I paid for a year's Bees Player on 21st May this year. What a fiasco.

Why are they increasing the cost 8.5% nearly 300% more than inflation? Using the excuse that they are providing more functionality does not wash as when their system fails to function (as it has many times in the past and yesterdays fiasco was just the latest) they don't offer your clients (loyal over many years) a %rebate.
I'm seriously considering ending my patronage due to their cavalier ways of operating unless I get a suitable answer.

Another shame because the content has improved since I started subscribing, great effort by the club's staff. But can't justify another price hike and I'm sure it will go up again when it is simply a luxury.

I know BFC are 'locked into watertight deals' with the providers for the OS and Beesplayer but the comms department really should be looking at alternatives if possible because these changes are backward moves.

I think it's sad that all of Brentford's content seems to have a price attached to it. Subscribe to bees world. Pay for text messages etc. Even twitter (a free and mass media) just points you back to links on the website.

We use any breaking news or interviews to try and drive use of BeesWorld. The Benham interview was a prime example of this and it was incredibly shortsighted.

The debate over paid content online rumbles on in the world of national press - fact is that the daily mail (free content read by millions) is now profitable online and the times (firewalled content with a pay model) isn't.

Dont get me wrong, I think there are some things that Brentford are right to be charging for - people are used to paying for Sky so paying for BeesWorld commentary (and the "show" is actually of a very decent standard now) makes perfect commercial sense both for the club and for subscribers. But paying for "breaking news" frankly sucks, particularly when it could be used to grow the appeal of the club.

Good post. Commentary should be sold on a match-by-match basis. Sometimes I can't make an away game so need the commentary but at the same time, I don't want to see an interview with the youth team coach.

The deal that BFC are locked into is so so rigid. I'd like to know what the comms department really think!

Subscription is the same all over the board. All clubs the payment is the same, hense why you can watch material off other clubs 'Players' (although I don't make a habit of doing that).

I don't know what percent of the money the club get in return (although it's enough to hire staff to work it and for the additional effort). But then it's up to the club to produce the content to make it seem worthwhile to the consumer.

Commentary and highlights is the main package.
Development Squad/youth highlights is the next (given you can't access it elsewhere).

Interviews ect are a luxury, especially considering that all of the best bits are transcribed for the website soon after anyway.
But that's mainly it....

I personally think the Player should discount for the summer months, given that we pay the same amount to get an interview with a new signing once every 3 weeks. But the whole thing is a bit of an....unnecessary luxury anyway for people who can make most home games. If money was tighter I would have no problem stopping using it.

Furthermore, the interviews seem to have gotten shorter (average a mintue and a half instead of an average of three minutes and a half last season), whilst the image and background quality has gotten poorer. I don't have much of a problem with slightly increasing my subscription, but I don't expect a worse quality service in return.

To listen to that interview I had to go via the link on facebook, if I tried to find it on the Bees Player itself it gave me the Germany one.

The interview is pretty short though, (3 mins something) off the top of my head I can't think of anything ground breaking he said....

The post wycombe interview is a mess.You get a different interview depending on wether you choose low medium or high bandwidth.
I found the right interview on the high setting.

However you can select "re-register" which takes you to a page selecting monthly or annual, then payment method, etc, which is brilliant then I click submit and I'm back where I started on the account history page ........ VERY ANNOYING THAT THERE IS NO CONTACT PHONE NUMBER TO EXPLAIN STUFF LIKE THIS - I'LL BE SPITTING FEATHERS IF MY MEMBERSHIP IS CANCELLED BEFORE NEXT SATURDAYS AWAY GAME ....I know many IT people avoid human contact when possible ( I worked with many like that myself) but at least the IT support and sales people should be available for actual talking .... ok I'm getting old .....

I renewed ok last night.

Its ok now , thanks ..... Solved re-registering problem - I'm set up for automatic renewal via direct debit - I thought I was but wasn't sure so I asked them via their email advice link - they replied telling me expiry was on 10th and that I had to renew via website .... after resetting my password to solve the access issue they thought I had (I didn't) and telling me to delete browser history in IE (again to remove password that I kept saying wasn't my problem - I currently have full access) they have finally changed their minds and admitted I am set up to renew automatically until further notice - all sorted via multiple email exchanges over 2 days ......... one phone call would have done it but that would mean talking to another human being .......
