Bees Review match day programme

Haven't read it yet. However, an inauspicious start by not having any of Brum players numbers listed on the back page and none of our B team subs listed thereon either! No one appears to have proof read that back page. Brentford, huh!

Bees Review match day programme

Maybe Brum didn’t give the Club the details?

B teamers get their numbers when chosen in the squad......

I hear it was sold out today, but maybe that was in certain parts of the ground. I did purchase 6 !

Best programme for several seasons. Well designed with plenty of reading content. Well done to all involved. Strange choice though to use the old club badge and the 1889-2014 125th anniversary logo on the front cover. I assumed it was a mistake until I saw the 2014/15 season feature inside.

Different covers, copying the ones from the past, for our 23 home games I believe. :)

Confused the @rap out of me when I opened a random page to see we had signed Jota. Mind you I was in One over the Ait and various other establishments from 11:00.

I picked up the Bournemouth programme from the Collectors' Club shop yesterday. Very impressed with that too - a great wallchart of the Bees' fixtures this season. They may have some left if, like me, you didn't get to that game.

The other thing I picked up at the Collectors' Club shop (as well as yesterday's programme) was the programme from the cancelled away match at Bolton. Can't be many programmes produced for games involving the Bees that never took place and were simply cancelled with the points awarded to the innocent party.

Nice article from you IBAE, enjoyed some of your memories, and was saddened by others, good piece and a good idea by the programme.

Thanks Paul. Should be a good set of those articles this season. You should do yours mate :-)

Some clubs wait until last minute to announce squad numbers

Everyone to their own but I was really disappointed with Saturday's programme. I usually read them cover to cover on the way home. But all the extracts from a past programme smacked to me of a panic replacement for some planned feature that didn't arrive on deadline. I'm quite happy to have a 'on this day x years ago' summary but not to open the new season by looking backwards. I did enjoy the rest of it. Though, that said, the CEO's premier league wannabee stuff smacked of riding for a fall - I think he mentioned PL ambitions three times in his piece.
I like the return to photos on the cover - don't go for line drawings myself.

Agree with a lot of this. The retro pages, if we are to have so many, should be further back in the programme, rather than confusing old gits like me when the first few pages refer to Brentford v Birmingham, but not today's match!

First one I've purchased in several years, it was ok, good production quality. They kindly put a 'welcome to GP' picture of HB Jnr in on request :sorted: Agree with the above about the past programme article, it went on and on and on. If it was about a pre-war programme or even something from the 60/70s it might have been more interesting.

I was expecting to see a countdown of the best 23 matches ever to grace the turf at Griffin Park

Would anybody be able to advise if it's possible to purchase a programme from the Brum game? I was hoping to collect each programme for the last season but got off to a shocker and completely forgot to buy one a couple of weeks ago!

I liked the cover of the Cambridge United programme. I also like the cover of the Hull City programme too!

The famous 7-2 victory over Hull City when someone scored a hat-trick!

Me and the old man went in there when at the Bournemouth game and managed to get 2 Bolton programmes :D

There were a few in the programme shop underneath Braemar Road on Tuesday night.

Totally agree – I usually wince at some of the design decisions for our programmes but this one is the best I have seen for a long time. Have only seen the Cambridge one, but a great idea for this season to run through old covers.

Looks fantastic :sorted:

These retro covers are a cracking idea. Is anyone able to share a picture of the Cambridge cover?

Not a clear picture but here’s the Cambridge one.

Have they said what other covers they're going to use? Pre-war ones maybe?

Many thanks for the offer, much appreciated. I've ended up managing to source one from a colleague at work :sorted:

As many individual covers as they can I believe. Many from the late 1920’s and 1930’s were the same. The same for the mid 1940’s. Also the 1950’s! 1970’s onwards were different most seasons...... it’ll be interesting to see what covers are used. :)

No one knows yet. There isn’t any space given over, as yet, to them.....it’s still being discussed....

Semi seriously, in the walkway / tunnel to Kew Bridge station. Or would there be safety concerns?

Inspiration is the Southbank Bookstalls under Waterloo Bridge.

So when did the Founded 1888 change to Founded 1889?

So when did the Founded 1888 change to Founded 1889?

In 1974 it was highlighted by Graham Haynes that it was incorrect. In 1975 the Football Club finally accepted that 1889 was in fact the correct year of foundation.

Unfortunately that wouldn’t work. Where do you store stuff!?! The fellas running the shop cannot lump a ton of programmes around.

Bees Review match day programme

I’m sure I donated a 1965 programme to the shop with diagonal red stripes. ( v Sunderland ).

Nice cover.

Remember buying these as a young lad!! lol

For info: The books at Waterloo Bridge are stored in lockable and I assume weatherproof storage boxes on the Southbank and laid out on trestle tables during opening hours.

Appreciate that it’s still probably not a solution.
