Bees Search

Bees Search is now fully launched and operational and ready to make more money for the club.

The site has been set up to make money for BFC whilst you carry out searches as you normally would on google. It works like this:

1. Advertisers pay Google for every click that someone makes on their advert (top of search page) in exchange for sending customers their way.

2. Google want people to use them to search the net so they pass on a small percentage of click to sites like Bees Search.

3. Google happy with more traffic, advertiser happy as more customers, BFC happy as more commission.

The search results you get are exactly the same as if you were using google.co.uk, but do NOT use the site just to click on ads to make money. Google do not want this to happen, and track suspicious activity: search to click ratios etc - the site will be banned if this happens.

In the past few weeks with only a few people using the site Bees Search has made just under £100.

With all of us using it day to day it could make everyone very happy indeed!

I'll be using this... but it doesn't do images?

Bees Search

That is true. Web searches are the same, but images and froogle etc are not yet on it.

I've spoken to the right people and they say this is on the way.

Bees Search

The site was down for a bit this weekend due to unknown technical problem (well unknown by me, and hosting company unavailable)

But all back online with more links added. ;)

If there are any problems in future or if you have any ideas/questions/abuse etc, please email me at charlie at beessearch.co.uk as I'm aware that as the site was down for a small amount of time this weekend no-one could see the contact as email address (as it was on the site  )

Total now at £108

Bees Search

Quieter day today but yesterday £10 raised for the club.

Total now at £120

Excellent good work cj
£10 a day would be really good! :sorted:

Bees Search

Bees Search now set as default search engine on all 9 staff computers at the office, my home and as many other people I can get to do it.

I have had zero problems with it

Jay, perhaps you could start a new thread "Value of Bees Search This Week plus running total" and update every Friday evening ?

Bees Search

Thanks Paul,

It's actually me who runs this site and I'm happy to do a weekly update in this thread, and start a new one if admin thinks that would be better.

Total now at £137

Bees Search

Will this go on forever until the internet fails?

Bees Search

If you mean is there a limit for which we can make money in this way then no.

If google thinks that the site has been set up wholely for the search engine then they will take it down - however this is clearly not true and they agree that there is enough other content. :fishing:

If you mean my updates of the rolling total then yes - you'll be subjected to them each week; I'll start doing this only on a Friday before the weekend game and not bothering any more in the middle.

When do you receive the money? At your request? ie. give it to Brentford every 6 months or when you have a sum that is truly noticeable? It's impressive that in under 2 weeks you can make £150 on such a simple idea... Am I rule-breaking if I search for something say, 5 times just for the sake of it? Fast internet means it barely makes a difference on my end...?

Yes you are rule breaking so please don't do this (note no fishing smilie here). Google are smart fellows and can work out the percentages of visits-to-searches-to-clicks and will ban the service if it looks suspicious in order to protect their paying customers.

However, if you were searching anyway, they like the fact that through the site you use google and not yahoo/msn etc and so are happy to pay us a commission.

The £150 has built up over a short while, but at best so far it has hit £10 a day. I can draw the money from google whenever I want, subject to some more security and tax clearences I have to get. I'll pay it over to the club or BU when it builds to a grand probably. However, I have suggested before that it stays ringfenced so we can ensure that it is spent something specific and not swallowed up in salaries and the like.

I suggested Bees Search could fund the scouting/player search budgets?

Bees Search

Ok

Bees Search

cjcjcj - Excellent work - 150 Quid in just a short time - You would think that someone from BFC or BU would take the trouble to drop a reply on this thread saying thanks !!

Out of interest, and if you know - How does the amount earner add up - Is it so much per click or some other method.

You would think the Official Site would pick up on this and promote it heavily on the O/S - But then again that would take someone to actually bother about it - And it's only money to help them - I fing it hard to beleive that no one from BFC or BU has not seen this thread and thought - Hey, this is great, we need to get the word out and out heavy.

Bees Search

There is a conflict of interestson the OS as they have the Premium TV link with Ask Search engine. I have spokento the club and they may be able to offer something in the programme/scoreboard etc.

It works on a cost-per-click basis for companies advertising on google. A popular search term like 'gambling' will have more companies competing for higher placements and so the costs are more. Cheap search terms like 'cheese' will have fewer interested parties and so it is easier to get higher up the listings for less money.

With the new season getting underway I'll develop the site more and would love some more ideas for content which fits with the Search idea - eg better news feeds, ground info etc etc

Total now stands at £152.58

Bit of a quiet week so make sure you get your colleagues/friends/family to use it day-to-day too.

Bees Search

Good day on Tuesday with £6.36 added to the fund with still just a few people using the site. As more transfers come in the news page is filling up too (use the news forum on GPG for the most up to date Bees news anywhere but sometimes good for stories tenuously linked to BFC through the news feed software).

Total now stands at £164.66

Bees Search

I'll advertise this on the Beesotted and Beesotted FC sites.

Bees Search

Great thanks - send me a pm with the links you want added and I'll get you in the Link Directory on the homepage.

Thanks to the brilliant mention in GPG news this morning we've raised another fiver already today and still lots if time to do more.

With coverage coming up on matchdays at the ground this is turning into a nice little earner for the club.

You should feel proud to be making the club money everyday!

Well done CJ :sorted: Between this and easyfundraising we could be looking at a very nice sum for the club. Excellent news.

do you just have to do a search, or click on the adverts as well?

Clicks on ads generate the cash but doing this outside of your normal searching is not allowed and statistics will show this up, so please don't just click on ads.

Using this as your normal search engine will mean that 1 in every 10-20 searches you'll end up clicking on ads anyway. Click fraud ruins it, so just use it as you would do google.

So instead of going straight to Amazon.com to buy that book or DVD, use Bees Search to "find" the book, find the amazon.com link, and click on that to buy your book. You still get it for the same price, but Bees Search geta kickback too.

Easy really - don't buy anything on line, or browse for anything on line, without going through Bees Search or you're just throwing sponsorship monies away!

Not exactly, although it can work this way. If you want to buy something particular like a book, I would use EasyFundraising (see the thread in this section).

BeesSearch is used just to search the net for anything, even if it doesn't result in you buying anthing. Companies pay google to be shown near the top of the search results on a pay-per-click basis. Therefore as BeesSearch sends more traffic to google, they get more money and pass some onto us.

People will pay google for search placings for lots of things, like for example to get their brand more known, not necessarily to end with a sale. So just use BeesSeach as you would any other search engine and you'll be raising money without even knowing it.

As CJ mentioned for purchasing please use www.easyfundraising.org.uk/uk/beesunited this gives you access to over 200 retailers who will make a donation to your chosen cause (BU in this case). Some give as much as £50 for a sale.

Hi Idaho,

For purchases at Amazon the best place is the Bees United Shopping portal as the Amazon do not pay a donation to easyfundraising at the moment.

Please use the followng link for Amazon

Thanks

Howcome I can only see an Amazon link?

The text says "The retailers below have agreed to pay Bees United commission for everything you buy from their websites. So, for example, whatever you spend on the HMV website, they will automatically make a payment to BU coffers. It is crucial that you click through to the retailer's site using one of the logos below - if you go direct to HMV BU won't get anything."

Nana,
Have you got anything being blocked on your internet explorer?
HMV for example on mine is right next to the Amazon link.

I'll put my usability hat on here. That page is a disaster. You can't concentrate to decipher what offers are on there and is more likely to induce a fit with all that animation and flashing going on!

It's a good idea but needs better execution.

Starting to make around £5 a day before any promotion outside of the GPG.

Bees Search

Total now stands at £301.49

That's £300 for the club which would never have been raised if it wasn't for everyone using this search site. Thanks, and spread the word.

Bees Search

Thanks for this, I use it as much as I can. A question though - can the main screen be extended to search for images and also limit results to UK (i.e. just like the google page)?
