It's got to be said.... Roget was superb last night - he won everything in the air and ran his socks off... well obviously not literally
Ok clearly, he's a man with a point to prove, but in my book he made that point last night!

tommy wright looks the business if nothing else. He has that strut about him and looks to have a very good work rate.

Exactly what I thought about him. Looks like he believes in himself (the 'strut') and I'd reckon he is a bit of a lad off the pitch with the laaaadies etc etc However on the pitch this sort of attitude is needed at the mo so good luck to him even if its only a month.

As to the work rate he was dropping back all the time and fighting for the ball to lay it off to a defender/midfielder and then
peeling away himself to make the runs for a new attacking chance. Good show that man ! :beer:

Whew. For a moiment I thought I was dealing with the Bully o fthe Bulletin Board - or even the Cad of the Fifth.

I guess I look at Hutch (and Jay Smith) with rather rose-tinted glasses.

As Dr Johnson once said, when one sees a dog walking on his hind legs, what impresses the most is not the fact that he does it well but the fact that he does it at all. I think that's Hutch.

When Hutch joined us, I thought he was awful. But last season I rather got to like him. A bit Sir Bob Bookerish in a way - plays hard but useless. (I do wish he'd win balls in the air that got to our own players, by the way.)

The trouble is, I don't think you can really have Hutch and Jay playing in the same side. Neither's the fastest nor the best tackler; Hutch does win more in the air. I'd rather, then, move DObbo to midfield to play alongside Hutch; play Somner at right back and hope Lee F starts to learn the game.

So in the meantime, keep me happy: please lay off our little Rover.

It's true that I've never been a fan of Hutchinson as I've never seen anything in him imho that would warrant him being a Bee.

Hutchinson's efforts against Oldham turned that game around (and maybe the season?) and he scored on a very well executed header in heavy traffic. Hutchinson gave 100% effort in both the games I saw this year.

I'd rather move O'Connor into midfield to partner Evans, who is not only capable of running around and heading the ball to the opposition but is actually capable of putting in incisive passes and making intelligent forward runs to support the strikers. Something which Hutch is either too slow to do or incapable of.

Your comparison to Bob Booker is pretty accurate as I always thought Sir Bob's best position was on the bench, which is exactly where Hutch should be and I'd be happy to have him there, just not automatic first choice in the poorest Bees Centre midfield for decades...

Angry beyond words
It has taken til now(almost 24 hours after the game) to post this message, simply because I was, once again, so angry after watching another Brentford performance, that it has taken me this long to calm down and feel I can write something without getting more emotionally upset than I already am.

My reasons to be angry and upset?

Quite simply it boils down to Wally's ludicrous and quite frankly downright unbelievable running of our football team.

Okay, we weren't awful last night, and a few (Smith, Dobbo, Roget and Smith before he was substituted), were all up for it. We could have and should have won. What made me so angry was Wallys seeming inability to pick the best players AND to pick them in the right positions.

Thus

1) O'Conner is anonymous up front and Rougier (our best player) is wasted on the right hand side of midfield. Therefore why not swap them around? ( ie play them in their strongest positions)
2) Stephen Evans, probably our most creative midfielder is left on the bench. Why?????
3) Wright, a good player, on loan from Leicester, can't make the starting line up. What's the point of having him then?????
4) Rougier substituted!!! Why??????
5) Finally, Hutch has to be, without a shadow of doubt, the worst player I have ever seen at griffin Park pull on the red and white shirt. Absolutely no contest!!!!!! Worse than Terry Scales, worse than Bob Goldthorpe, worse than Murray Jones, worse than Stan Webb and even worse than me. How can Wally persist with a player who makes NO telling tackles, No passes, NO intelligent off-the-ball runs, NO shots, but persistantly gives the ball away, misses his tackles,is out of position , and generally goes missing? It is beyond belief. I cannot see what Wally can see in a player who has NO FOOTBALLING ABILITY WHATSOEVER.

I repeat..... NO FOOTBALLING ABILITY WHATSOEVER!!!!!


Unless we pick our best players and play them in their best positions, we really have no hope. Yesterday, Blackpool, as in seasons passed, were there for the taking, but due to poor management we were lucky to escape with a point.

This has got to stop. I know Wally doesn't read the boards. Well let's hope he reads this.

I don't expect Brentford to win every game, and these days I'm hardly a sore loser. I know the financial predicaments at this club as well as anyone, and do as much as many to raise funds for the club. But, I don't see why I should put up with blatant unprofessionalism +/or favouritism to some players from our fool of a manager.

Good game for both keepers last night. Disapointed with jay smiths performance despite being taken off after 30 mins. Tommy wright bareley had a touch and rougier looked sh*te.

There were several players in that category in the Plymouth match. Take a look at the video of Argyle's second goal for starters. Hutchinson's goal against Oldham was a corker and. I believe, our first from open play of the season.

Our midfield was non-existent and the central midfield role really exposes any weaknesses as it did last night

Spot on Bee H, this is where there is a definite weekness. It is not that the defence is weak but it is not covered, therefore it does get easily exposed. If this was addressed we would have a team well good enough for a mid table pos.

Either he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer or it was ghost written for him by a 6 year old. "I like Dobbo, Dobbo is good because he is nice. I think you are being a tad hard on fieldwick. He has only a few games under his belt and is totally isolated. His only role models are two centre back who do their own thing. 1 on 1 ibu and roget are excellent players but as a unit it is all disorganised and nobody talks. if terry evans or batesy were at the back you would see a far better talent emerging in fieldwick but nobody leads the line and tells him what to do! Unfortunately he is going the same way as somner, an excellent talent that is having the spirit drained from him by a disorganised shambolic team.

Come back Gibbo quick!!!!!!!!

Actually, Alex, tho' I'd like to duck out of this one, I think it was me that mhead bee was talking about.

And, having read the comments by mhead, I'll hold my hands up and say - I went back to mhead's postings and y'know what? Couldn't find ones I disagreed with in the recent past. Da**n.

So I'll have to grizzle about someone else, probably equally unjustifiably.

Actually, I read most postings, but even if I don't agree I don't always comment, which could be why we haven't yet had a fistfight out back behind the bikesheds.
