Bees v Hull City

Yes, yes I know QPR is coming up and in a local derby all form goes out of the window but I feel the real test of our turnaround will come 4 days later when Hull City visit GP.

They are physically strong team all over the park and we all know about Mr Odubajo's attributes. I wonder what sort of reception he'll get? :pop:

One bit of encouragement might be the absence of Curtis Davies and replacement with Harry Maguire at centre half.

Bees v Hull City

I was thinking about this game yesterday - will be a tough challenge. And if we win against QPR I can see there being a big home crowd (and probably pretty big if not as well).

Bees v Hull City

Now what point return would you all be happy with from these games?

3 points and im very happy. But think we can take 4.

6 points is a massive ask.

Bees v Hull City

I'd be very happy with 4 points and would prefer the win to be QPR but wouldn't grumble if we drew with QPR and beat Hull.

Bees v Hull City

But would you be happy if we lost against QPR and beat Hull? ;)

Gets tin hat.

Bees v Hull City

A point against the ra ra's puts the pressure on getting three against Hull.

.

He is a bit dodgy positionally and I expect Judge and Canos to gove him a torrid time, that mixed with an exceptionally hostile reception reserved for ex players who leave us to chase the money. I know they have no choice but they are still playing against us.

Bees v Hull City

... an exceptionally hostile reception reserved for ex players...
I thought we gave them a standing ovation... Let's hope he doesn't try to break any legs, eh!

Some idiots will give him a standing ovation if previous experience is repeated.

Bees v Hull City

I want two wins out of two. Yes they are both tough games but we have improved each game over the last three. As LC said in his BBC London Charlton post match interview we have 4 players totally on top of their games. If we can get that up to 6 or 7 then we are going to be a force to be reckoned with again. From my recent viewing of other Championship sides I suddenly don't have the fear factor that I had. I reckon the likes of Reading, Brighton etc are not actually world beaters and I reckon a confident fully functioning Bees side are now a match for anyone at our own level.

The difference there being that Douglas was practically kicked out the door and would still be here were it not for Dijkhuizen, whereas Odubajo willingly walked through it, so that's a pretty short-sighted comment.

Bees v Hull City

These next two games are a proper barometer of how far we've come in a very short space of time. Thankfully, the we're doomed brigade have gone quiet and we can focus now on whether we'll compete at the top end this year. To my mind, we have the quality and the fitness is improving. It's now about how quickly some of the newer players can integrate into the team and become one of those 6 or 7. If Djurcin hits top form with Vibe and Hoffman building strength in reserve then we have a lot to be positive about. And with those players close to returning from injury......

I just hope that if we don't do as well as we'd all like over the next two games that certain groups of fans keep things in perspective.

Oh no not that debate rekindled. Lets just give him hell cos he's playing for someone else. No history required he is just the opposition

And have you not read any of the numerous posts that explain why Douglas was " kicked out" ???

People having differing opinions are fine but spouting errant nonsense without finding out the facts does not reflect well upon you !!!

He went for the dosh. Not a problem for me but why do we welcome him back. He played for just one season for us. Its not as if were applauding a great servant of the club. Just how is it short sighted to not give encouragement to the opposition?
The more I read it the less I understand your point. Douglas was kicked out because he was a trouble maker. Moses went to Hull for the money fair enough. Don't have any reason to clap either of them!

i;ll politely clap moses as hes introduced as he was a good lad whilst playing for us but then want him to score an own goal in the 95th min to make up for him going ;) i think thats fair

I'd also say 2 draws to continue momentum wouldn't be the end of the world either?

I would LOVE IT if Harry Maguire played. About as good as Harry Hill.

Bees v Hull City

Hull going in to extra time v Leicester tonight. Then away trips to MK Dons and then us. Hopefully they'll be a bit jaded come next Tuesday with our extra days rest.

Bees v Hull City

Jaded and distracted, we hope!

I know, absolute b***ocks.

I'm willing to hold my hands up here and admit I'm potentially wrong - but is anyone able to provide me with outright proof that this wasn't the case? Maybe not quite as harshly as 'kicked out', but that ultimately he'd not been forced out the door?

I have a friend who has spoken to him personally since the matter and Douglas explicitly said at the time that he wanted to stay (he works at a golf club that Douglas frequented).

In response to the 'errant nonsense' - is this based on hear say posted around these forums? Maybe that's just your opinion, which is fine. Believing any morsel of a rumour that's posted on here and implying that's the 'fact' doesn't reflect particularly well on you either. But like you say, I guess perhaps those are our differeing opinions.

In response to the second to last quote, I think you may have misunderstood. I'm not saying we should clap Odubajo, in fact if anything I'd say we absolutely shouldn't and I'd look down on anyone that does, I was merely saying that clapping Douglas was a perfectly acceptable thing to do at the time. I don't see why he suddenly becomes a savage enemy the moment he joins another club. It's not like he told us to go and **** ourselves and joined QPR.

Again, please do prove me wrong if possible, I'd genuinely be interested to know if anything outright was revealed regarding Douglas' departure and I'd be keen to read about it - as it certainly passed me by at the time if so. With that in mind though, as it stands I also say again that I know someone who has personally spoken to him about it, so forgive me but at this moment in time I'm probably going to take that as the more likely story as opposed to hear say posted in here.

With all this in mind however, I do agree with the majority that he's a sh*tbag for his tackle on Jota.

IIRC Douglas fell out with Benham far more than he did with any manager. Falling out with the owner of any business you work for can't but be a one way ticket out.

NB did a post sometime back on the JD thread which explained most of your questions.

All I will say from the things doing the rounds was that JD was a gonna regardless of the manager.

And with that then - what exactly was it I said that was 'absolute b***ocks'?

I said that he was forced out the door, which you two above me have essentially just agreed with.

Bees v Hull City

Taking the woman to this one, it's her first Brentford home game followed by a long train/bus journey back to Norwich afterwards - hope we win!

You said Marinus forced him out. I'm not looking to score points here but you said he would still be here if it wasn't for Marinus forcing him out. The reality is he wouldn't still be here and it wasn't Marinus who forced him out.

Okay fair enough, I stand corrected if it wasn't Marinus and Marinus alone that wanted him out (it was he who revealed to the press that he had 'no future' with us though), but that wasn't exactly my point and it doesn't really change anything about it. The reactions seemed as if the fact I thought he'd been forced out were absolutely preposterous. Replace 'Marinus' with 'the powers that be' then. I know it wasn't you, but claiming that's 'errant nonsense' or 'absolute b***ocks', is in itself absolute, errant b***ocks when the core fact is essentially true.

To go back to my original point then, Douglas was a great servant to this team and were it up to him, he'd have never have left. So comparing our fans clapping him on the opening day of the season to thank him for all his hard work, to that of if we were to clap Odubajo, who only left for a bigger paycheck, is unfair.

I'm not sure why it took beating around so many bushes to get there, but that's my point and I still stand by it.

Fair do's, I guess we better take this thread back on topic :)

Bees v Hull City

Agreed! :) Back on topic it is.

I know it might sound pessimistic, but I'd honestly be quite happy with 2 points from the next 2 games. Keeping this winning streak going would be fantastic, but draws against 2 teams who were (in theory) Premier League quality less than a year ago is nothing to turn one's nose up at.

Because if you shout loudest, opinions become facts.

Who cares about Douglas quite frankly? He's a player in decline and I'm pleased he left as playing him would have held someone else back. Couldn't care less about the circumstances - it was a decent football decision imo.

Seconded.

Any way we are going to beat this lot as well as those lot from down the road.

Bees v Hull City

Given that we've yet to get a point from anyone above us in the table two draws would be a useful step in the right direction. A win in either game would be marvellous.

Wolves were above us before we took them to the cleaners

Bees v Hull City

Never let the facts get in the way of putting the team down.

Bees v Hull City

... and QPR will be below us after Friday, so we're not that good, are we?

Bees v Hull City

I can see this being our 2014 November by winning 5 on the bounce. These 2 matches are obviously more difficulty than the first 3 but we have confidence and a system that has worked in the 2 away games, which if reproduced at home will make us difficult to break down. The first goal as always will be critical but I fancy us to beat QPR and hopefully nick a win against Hull.
Also, I will applaud Moses onto the pitch as he always did his best for us, and left for a record fee. Once the match starts though he is dead to me.

Bees v Hull City

Got my tickets. Will applaud Moses. I will show my appreciation to JD, our most important player for three seasons. He got a little leggy in the second half of last season, but was sorry to see him go. (I know nothing and I am happy to wallow in my ignorance. If you don't like it, I'll be in Ealing Road Tuesday, happy to debate the matter. I look a bit like the beautiful Amy).
