To add a bit of realism

We are in the play-offs which are a lottery. We still have a very good chance of going up. i agree with a lot of the negative points on here but surely it is worth addressing only after we have finished with the play-offs.

As for teh last minute goal problem, I seriously think Allen needs toencourage a bit more PMA in the team when we are in the lead.

This team is currently ill-equipped for a knock-out competition. Can't score freely. Can't defend a lead. Can't keep a clean sheet. No chance.

Bees v Muff....updates

I think we ought to lobby the FA and FIFA to have games played over 85 mins in future. Second thoughts that won't make any difference because we'll only concede in the 84th minute from then on.
Still at least today it made no difference compared to last week and before.

Bees v Muff....updates

To be honest we cant have any complaints. We ****ed auto promotion up the wall and whos to say that we wouldnt have conceded if Yeovil had scored?

And without 3 of our best players (Tabb, Sodje, Owusu).

Sometimes I think we need a lesson in fansmanship. The club has done extremely well with a the very slender resources available. Some of our fans act like this is Manchester United expecting to win every single match and hell to pay if they don't.
You know the manager and the players will be gutted after coming so close to automatic promotion. They know they have to get ready for a tough play-off schedule in a couple of days. So what do we do? Bombard them with a heavy salvo of sarcasm, doom, negativity and blame. Jeez people it's a football club and we call ourselves supporters so let's support them. There are another eighteen clubs in our league that would give their right arm to be in these play-offs and still in with an opportunity for promotion. Sure it's disappointing but in the end our fate today was determined by what happenend at Yeovil. Win, lose or draw we would be in the same spot so get over it and give your team the support it needs.

COME ON YOU BEES!!

California, you've been out of England too long. Being reasonable is no fun! It's been raining here, the sky is grey and the Bees have cocked up (again). We have something to moan about. The joy!

Bees v Muff....updates

CB, I agree, just worth stating the facts though:

1) We f*cked up. Again.

2) Swansea are the form team and we are a tired side lacking in confidence with several key players missing for the play-offs. On paper, the Swans will go into the tie as favourites.

3) All of us will be supporting the team 100% for the next 2 hopefully 3 matches.

While I totally agree with this, I find it astonishing that you can be so accepting! (I do wish I was as laid back though.) It's going to take a couple of hours for me to mentally (and physiologically) return to normal. Totally gutting today.

can i say [although it hurts]

Well done colchester and southend, colchester were the best side down
at griffin park this season and stepped up to the challenge when it was
required.

Playoffs again.... don't think i can take it:(

Bees v Muff....updates

Feck it, you’re right of course CB (the wisdom gained by your watching the lads for 59 years is showing through).

We’re in the playoffs, there’s nearly 20 other teams in our division who would gladly change places with us. It may be possible to argue that we haven’t exactly got a good track record in this situation, we’ll be missing some of our best players and we ain’t been playing well recently, we're nearly broke but apart from that everything is going brilliantly!

So come on, I hate to use the cliché but PMA, PMA, PMA! The season is still alive and the worst that can happen is that we’ll feck it up yet again. So……..

Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford, Come on Brentford

Bees v Muff....updates

We cannot blame anyone except ourselves, and we have clearly not learnt any lessons this season from our 90th minute generosity.

I am so livid that they conceded again today in the 90th minute - I know it is academic as the Us held on for the draw, but imagine if Yeovil had managed a winner. Absolutely pathetic.

We are going nowhere, and anyone who wants to keep the rose-tinted specs on is welcome to go for it. Swansea are as good as in the final.

Bees v Muff....updates

Absolute bunch of amateurs. And if anyone mentions Newman's name, I think I will start punching walls. He's our fricking CAPTAIN for God's sake! We brought him in to be the cool head in an inexperienced side - what the **** is he doing giving away goals in the 90th minute AGAIN!

Frankly insulting to the supporters.

I do too and that's one of the reasons why I wrote this message. Some of the fans were throwing in the towel long before the end, something that none of those teams who scored those late goals against us did.
There's a lot of luck and a lot of emotion in football and we fans can contribute to the second more than we think. Basically I feel that it's more effective for me to get mad and fight back than to get down in the dumps and wail doom and gloom. I try to imagine the players when the team gives up a gut-wrenching goal or suffers a last-minute defeat. I feel that those guys would respond much more positively to a rally cry of support and defiance than if they were hailed with a round of boos and negative comments. I think there is a time for constructive criticism and examination of the stengths and weaknesses.
You do get a different perspective over time but that's just mine. Someone else may have a different perspective.
In this particular game the odds were against us as we needed an optimum result from two games and neither of them went the way we wanted. If we had won 8-0 at Bournemouth we would still have been in the same boat.
Right now, winning the play-offs is the job in hand and I believe that approaching that contest with vociferous support and enthusiasm is the best thing we can give the team. Three of the four clubs are going to be disappointed and all four have more chance of being among the three than of being the one who gets promoted. However, we have to push that thought aside and go for the golden ring.

So it's COME ON YOU BEES!

err, but we didn't win 8-0. we didn't do our bit of the equation either which is inexcusable. against a team with nothing to play for. and players like hayter thinking about their move in the summer too.

Boy if Newman had held steady and we had won that game today it would have changed (everything/nothing?) and Swansea City would be dead ducks (their distant cousins?) or swans cruising into the final?

Imagine if Yeovil had managed a winner! Imagine what didn't happen and then throw a tantrum about it? You will never get those toys back in the pram.

I thought he just signed a new contract?

The reason I am dejected is that has all been so avoidable. Lets be honest MA had made serious tactical and personnel errors this season but importantly has failed to learn from them.
Turner is the natural captain
Newman,Brooker, Hutchinson and Lewis are not good enough even as standard league 1 players.Tillen has talent and should play each game.

I still think lewis is a better option than newman at the moment

i disagree with eddie hutch, i think hes a good enough player to come on and do a job for us. brooker has looked very good at times. turner is a good role model in the team, but i dont think captain material. i think koc would make a good captain

I posted earlier on this season and said that Newman was a liability, a crap captain and was letting us down. I got slated. I wish to God I had been proved wrong.

It's not blind optimism but it's not wallowing pessimism either. It's a refusal to be distracted from the job in hand (the play-offs) by mooning and complaining over what is now past history. The play-offs are a very tough contest and very hard to win. Going in with a "we're useless crap" attitude is not my idea of healthy preparation.

Thank you for your immensely patronising response, bu you're missing the point my friend. You will however be pleased to know that my playthings remain firmly within the confines of my perambulator.

Conceding in the 90th minute AGAIN, when as far as we/ they knew it was all still to play for, sums up the lack of concentration that has plagued us this season.

I would rather go into the playoffs having held on to a good win than having capitulated in the 90th minute once more. It's called FORM. We don't have any.

You're right, ultimately, sitting here, talking with hindsight, as you are, it changes nothing (except I think that finishing the season with a win was important psychologically), but Newman did not know that when he pressed the self-destruct button, and in my opinion it demonstrates what a liability he has been this season.

I appreciate you optimism, but maybe if you saw a few more games you'd know what you were talking about.

Pity about today but I don't think we have anything to fear in the Playoffs. Playing Swansea in the Semi-Finals at least means we don't have the risk of meeting them in Cardiff with their 40k supporters and our 10k or so.

We must stop conceding late goals though....

agree fully.
we are 3rd, we gained the most points over the course of the season, i think we are the best team in the playoffs. i really do. i think we will edge it past swansea, and then barnsley or hudders in final who to be honest i dont think we will have to much trouble about. i really cant see why we won't win the playoffs. we've just got to tighten up in the last 5mins. not sure what it is, lack in concentraition or even fitness levels? but we can do it.

cmon, lets get behind the lads, after todays result ended up meaning nothing we have got to support them during these playoffs!!

PMA

U REDS!

Feckin shame he didn't realise that tactic until today......else Blackpool and Hartlepool would have been history.......seems like we've gone down the
'Pool'

(Sky commentator [Nigel Spackman - ex Bournemouth, Liverpool and Chelsea et al] said that Frampton had been sent off, not Sodje......just how good is he at observation?....so was MA really calling all his players back into their own half?)
