Bees v Orient

Main plus from last night was DJ. By far the sharpest of our forwards, and I wouldn't mind having Echanomi of Orient alongside him in the team. Lloyd looked a bit rusty, but hopefully that will be sorted by the first real game.

Brooker showed nice touches and pace, but crosses not quite there yet and he didn't fancy any 50/50 challenges... though I'll forgive that in a friendly.

Skulason showed glimpses of control and was competitiveness... worth a bet for the most yellow cards this season?

Big George had an excellent game, probably enough to reassure MA that he doesn't need another keeper if Nelson is just missing 1 or 2 games.

O'Connor did as well in midfield as he had at full back and Dobbo and Frampton were sound

As someone else has remarked, Turner and Sodje didn't seem to be paying 100% attention, but given a competitive game should be OK

Rankin didn't get into it other than one good shot. Looked overweight, but that may be the new shirt and long baggy shorts as a few others looked bulkier than usual.

Of subs, Tabb injected pace without getting anywhere, Fitz hardly touched the ball and Tillen had little chance to impress. Goal was about Osbourne's only contribution in his short time on.

Looking forward to the season

Dangerous`s post was spot on.

+s
Dobbo - looked fitter and sharper and getting back to the old Dobbo.
Dudley - very sharp and quick
Oli - Quality, but will get shed loads of bookings.
George - Still going to make one blunder a game
Tabb- very impressive and MUST start.
Owusso - worried by him at present, but hopefully a goal will spark him.
Brooker - another Hunt, but without the tackles

-s
Sodje - very casual tonight and a stoopid hairstyle
Turner - not helped by Sodje`s attitude

Orient brought no more than 200.

Pitch was nowhere near as good as Staines pitch and we are going to be in trouble again I feel.

It's the same as last season I reckon. Tabb plays significantly better when coming on as a sub than when he starts. Maybe because he's had a chance to look at the opponents strengths and weaknesses first.

Bees v Orient

Sodje was being troubled by asthma - used a inhaler/pump thingy at least twice during the match - maybe the hot weather brings it on

The pitch was cutting up badly, dunno whether the work done on it oner the break has really had much effect?

I've seen Karleigh Osbourn play twice this season, at Staines and last night V Orient. I noticed that people were a little bit worried about the state of our back up for center defs and mids, I think Osbourn can be a very good player very quickly and seems to be learning more each time he plays, he can play center def and mid which is awesome and could solve that problem, maybe MA has seen this alread and that why he hasnt brought anyone in (yeah course he has).

Bankole had a very good game last night apart from when he went wondering off outside the box towards the corner flag and then went down like he had been shoot, Mr Sinhg didnt fall for it :).

A times last night we played some excellent one touch football and defo looked the part, first half was a bit bland but not as bad as everyone seemed to make out (we did hit the post twice, had one cleared off the line and loads of chances where the final ball was just away from them).

Second half was more of the same and just looked we were sitting back soaking up the pressure until Karleigh hit his pile-driver.

All in all a good way to repay scotty, almost 2,000 at GP and the raffel / auction afterwards in Stripes raised about £2,500 for him.
Gratz to the person who got the final auction item :) people there last night know what it is.......and comiserations to the fella who got the burst signed Fulham ball rofl rofl

Bees v Orient

All you doubters..... I told you big George was ok some great saves and a penalty stop even if it was as limp as a vicars handshake. Well done big fella perhaps the people will get behind you now :sorted:

Feck Surely this must have been a priority. :mad1: Today's Chronny says that MA wants to entertain us more this year. Not on a sh*t pitch when there's no-one to hold the ball up he won't.

You're being a bit harsh on Brooker comparing him to Hunt, he's a lot better than that, far more awareness and knows when to release the ball rather than try another trick and gets into great scoring positions, think he's gonna get a few for us this season.. Tabby could do with watching him as although he made some good runs in the second half he invariably ended up getting nowhere. I think our season's gonna come down to how consistent Brooker can be and whether Owusu can find his feet.. I would def have Tabby in ahead of Rankin though must be said, however I wouldnt mind seeing him have another go up front..

It wasnt that bad at all, looked fine to me, wasnt bumpy like last season, we were perfectly capable of passing it about when we felt like it.. just a few divots came up here and there but it's a new pitch so that's not a surprise really.

Whether it will survive another Broncos season remains to be seen but it'll be fine for the time being.. so don't stress!! Even Dobbo managed a few passes on the floor last night!

No Broncos at GP this season! They're moving to Harlequins

Big George had a very good game, thought he played like Gordon Banks up to the moment he waited for the stationery ball to go out of play. At this point he played like Tony Banks...... but much improved all the same.

Bees v Orient

Big George - Made some good saves, restored some of my confidence in him
Dobbo - Getting back to full fitness
Framps - Good to see him back after his injury
Turner - Did ok, didn't look all that interested
Sodje - Very casual, didn't look fully fit to me
Rankin - Had one good shot (what else can i say!)
Brooks - Looked quick and sharp, hit the post
Oli - Some good passes, lots of fouls including giving away the penalty
Kev - Looked good, very composed in the middle of the park
:owusu: - Looked poor, didn't do a lot
Dudley - Looked sharp, some nice touches, gets in good positions

Subs

Fitz jr - Didn't get into the game
Tabb - Some good runs, great touch
Osbourne - Looked strong in the midfield, very good prospect
Masters - Came on for the last five minutes

Great speech at half time by Andy, Thanks and good luck! :) ;) :sorted:

panic not about :owusu:

he is improving slowly but surely - it took him a while to settle first time around and it probably will again. he still looks the most able partner for dj and wins more flick-ons than i remember from last time around.

have to agree re karleigh osbourne, he's a decent prospect - think marcus gayle will be first choice reserve at centre half though.

the acution in stripes afterwards was superb - i particularly liked MA having a pop at the bloke from the braemar who shouts "get him off" 20 minutes into various games.

That's nothing 38 minutes into the first pre-season friendly of the season at GP a well-known (make that infamous) GPG'er was heard to shout

"You don't want to go up Brentford"

Perhaps we should have a game similar to the Nigel Brrooks holiday game to see if anyone can guess who it was?

Big George isn`t the worst goalkeeper in professional football, but he will make one mistake a game. It will either cost us a goal or be simply a corner or we might manage to clear it.

Anyway he has the support of the paddock as we have all bought his grill.

Are they?? When did that happen? Missed that one..

We had it in the Chronicle almost two months ago! Been told by a Broncos bod that it is definately happening, and, as Les Beavinue points out, an announcement is being made on Tuesday which should make it official.
Should be better for our pitch, but will be interseted to find out how much rent we will be losing. Catch 22 situation I suppose.

That bloke he was pointing at was me, and I can assure you I have never ever said anything like that about our players and I pulled MA up and told him exactly that, his reply was well it is noisy and I cant hear anything so he appologised, for your info Bannana I sent my ST back once in 15 years.

Ace, I sense you are coming round to approving of George. I am proud of you! :sorted:

blah blah everyone is going to make 1 mistake a game, kicking the ball not quickly enough, etc.

Anyway, well done George, good game last night !

I think MA is using OWUSU as a target man like he used Deon ?

Bees v Orient

Definitely, agree with you BTD, and he did set up the great goal that DJ scored. The makings of a good partnership there. I thought Lloyd was better than a lot of people on here give him credit for. Maybe they're still looking to make those driving runs from deep to bury the ball in the back of the net that we once saw. Think it'll be differentthis season. He very nearly glanced one in off his head last night from 15 metres out - would love to have seen that go in to silence the doubters. He'll be fine. Intersting last night to see how many times when Isiah got the ball people assumed it was Lloyd. You need to make your mark on the crowd this season Isiah instead of standing in the shadows, out of the limelight.

Bees v Orient

Isiah's shorts were so large last night, i thought he was wearing plus fours..

Did so sir! I posted at the time that we ALSO gave it our sister paper, the Staines leader, to print, as someone had flagged it up as some sort of Staines Leader exclusive. Might seem pedantic, but these sort of things matter to us sad hacks! It'd be like someone else being credited for one of your pictures
