Ben May is embarassing he is tall with no pace, poor touch, cant head, weak so i still can amagine what he must be doing to be catching wallys eye. I've seen some poor players but if you work hard u can atleast look like a footballer like triple m who was useless but worked hard, quick, strong and could head but Ben does none of this and i see no reason to extend his loan

I hope we can kee him for the rest of the season. He nodded down a few for Hunt and Tabb yesterday. He also layed on a few chances for Tabb , that maybe Harrold or Peters would have tucked away.

Millwall are short of strikers at the moment and Dennis Wise may recall him when his loan has ended and I'm sure Wally can persuade Wisey that Ben May is better off with the BEES for the rest of the season. It would be positive news if we can keep May until the end of the season!!!He has a lot to offer.

Millwall are down to the bare bones up front, with 5 strikers out injured. Surely he's bound for a recall?
The 'wall fan I spoke to rated MacCammon higher than May, so he must really be out of sorts at that place. Perhaps he's upped his game for Brentford cos he knows it's a shop window? I'd only hope he can keep it up if he does join longer term.

One thing I think he does well is to take the ball on his chest. He did this well one time in Grimsbys area yesterday. He then turned the defender well and laid the ball off. Sadly nothing came of it.
I think he also put in one of the crosses across the box that Tabb couldn't quite get on the end of it. 'Typically' there was no other support coming into the box either.

I reckon those who don't like May have a different conception of what forwards should be doing to those who don't. My guess is those who like him would probably be those who thought that McCammon was not as dire as some thought and also the biggest Taylor and Blissett fans (not that I'm saying May has reached those heights at the moment)

I believe he and Tabb could form a very good understanding, he might not be a huge goalscorer but you have to look at the bigger picture, and for me May will be an asset to us.

He was being lorded on here for performnaces against Luton and Brighton where he and Tabb struck up an excellent understanding and O'Connor was on fire.
He will only look good if those around him read his flicks and are in position to react to the ball he lays off, without that he looks poor, as there is no-one to give the ball to.

We can disscuss the merits and shortcomings of Ben May till the cows come home but the fact is we shouldn't be using our loan allocation on strikers who have no visable superiority to the ones we already have, especially when we are so desperately in need a creative midfielder or two.
I agree that Ed the Hutch is improving game by game. But we really need someone else in there who is going to make stuff happen, service the front two. We clearly cant afford someone so the only option is to get a someone on loan.
I must admit that my knowledge of how many loanees you can have per season is a little shaky but we cant be entitled to many more with the amount we have had already.
I just think that if we are going to get players on loan we should be concentrating on building a solid and effective midfield.

Given the choice, I know who I would prefer to have up front, and we have him until the end of the season.
He was slow to convince me, but I believe the more games he plays, the better he seems to be.
He defends well and seems to add a dimension of intelgence that is lacking.
He is a great asset to the team and will score more this season than the Trolly did in two.

Totally agree, as much fun as trolley was, May has already shown he has enough skill and raw talent to be fully worth his extension.
He is only 19 and is a long way from the finished article but he will get better as the season goes on.

As for criticising the players. That is the right and privilege of all supporters. The exchange of opinions is one of the things that makes following the bees and the GPG such fun.

I've been watching games at Griffin Park since a game against Bournemouth exty ex years ago when Jim Towers was leading the line. For me Ben May is a great prospect. He may not yet be scoring many goals but in my eyes he's given the attack a new dimension, holding the ball up, spreading it intelligently and accurately. Not a bad goal he scored against Brighton, either (or was it against Luton: a turn and a cracking shot. Stop sniping and watch him properly.

Yep Bob Taylor and Gary Blissett were pretty good and thank you TOMOGP for putting me straight re Plymouth..getting old! I reckon that with support and the right attitude Ben has the potential to be better than both ( a certain Mr Wilkinson sets the gold standard at present). And Matt Harrold could go far as well.......we could be blessed......
