Best crosser

There's been some discussion about whether Dobbo can cross or not. Now, that set me to wondering... who was the best crosser of the ball you've seen in a Bees shirt?

Smillie was cool, so was Sinton, but I also remember Docherty being good. Most surprisingly, Derek Bryan used to come on as sub and often created chances with his crossing, tho' he had difficulty beating his man beforehand.

Who else comes to mind?

Smillie - 2 footed so could go both inside and out and cross from both flanks.

Doug Allder,Neil Smillie and Mark Williams in that order.

People will question my choice of Williams but when he did play his crosses were whipped in quick and low . He showed a lot of promise for a while. Shame he never developed or given more of a chance by the management.

I did like the look of Williams: also good at beating his man in the early days. I think he was hit by the fact that we had no forward who would attack the early nearpost ball last season.

Docherty perhaps brings back most memories of good crosses, but then in his third spell (the one I remember best) he did have John O'Mara to get on the end of them

Smillie was a superb winger. Probably our best player in my time watching Brentford

Has to be Paul Stephenson for me. Didn't think too much of Andy Scott as a crosser but in the 97/98 season, under Adams, he did whip one fantastic ball in for Bob Taylor who hit a superb finish in front of the Ealing Road.
Can't remember who that was against though. :scratch:

I was not going to mention Stevo for fear of stick as he had more off days than good ones and was not exactly one who endeared himself to fans, but a great crosser nonetheless.
Anyone remember where he went post-Bees? Hartlepool possibly.

Incidentally his first game for York was at home to Brentford in August 1995, 2-2 IIRC.

I think we sold him to York (??). Then he went on to play for Hartlepool for a good few years where he is currently youth team manager.
