I think centre back is the position where we've probably had most good players in my 40-odd years of watching: Gelson, Kruse, McNichol, Millen, Evans, Ashby, Hutchings, Hreidarsson, Ingimarsson, Powell, Sonko, Sodje, Turner would all be players that I'd be happy to see turning out for us every week (as they were in their playing days, obviously, not a 65y-o Peter G)

Cente midfield arguably the least: Hurlock head and shoulders above the lot, then Kamara, Mahon, Sidwell, Jones, possibly Paul Evans and that's about it

The only reason I didn`t include Sidwell in my stab at this was because he was a loan player.

Otherwise I would also have had Paul Merson at right back!
