BFC Technical Director

I can only imagine that for those in charge, replacing Robert Rowan is both a painful and difficult subject to address.

It seems though that it is a crucial role and having just watched Southampton, I was surprised to learn that Les Read is no longer their technical director. I don't know about wages for this kind of role and would imagine that he might consider bigger roles than with us but he does seem to have a vast amount of experience that could help even in a short term consultancy role.

He would be an excellent appointment. Difficult to see it happening though.

Think he’s been interviewed for the FA job along with Warburton result to be announced

BFC Technical Director

Nice idea, but I would have thought he would be after a role at a 'bigger' club.

BFC Technical Director

He’s 66 now so he might not be looking for a hands on fresh challenge at a club.

Though he might also feel that the infrastructure is already in place here so he could move straight in.

BFC Technical Director

Just up the motorway so would be a good stepping stone for him to still live in his area plus he might just like a good challenge. As for the f/a interviewing warburton well he does the chat but no trophies and a cloud over his head regards his methods wherever he’s been ???

Said this in another thread but seeing as the ‘technical director’ role was created specifically for RR and his range of expertise perhaps we could divide the role between a new Head of Recruitment and something like a Head of Football Operations, which was Rowan’s job when Andy Scott was here.

I think a new Head of Recruitment is where they will start at first.

BFC Technical Director

Brentford Football Club is seeking a Head of Recruitment to enable the Club to identify and recruit undervalued players faster, and more effectively, than our competitors.

The role involves being able to:

Lead a team of scouts
Understand how and when to apply objective and subjective scouting methods
Build relationships to key stakeholders in the market place: agents, clubs etc.
Use technology where it makes the scouting process more effective
Translate a recruitment strategy into specific actions and weekly targets
Structure information and presenting it in a effective way
The successful candidate will have outstanding people and communication skills and be open-minded towards new and sometimes unconventional ideas that can improve current practices.

The role will be located at The Training Ground, Jersey Road, Brentford, but it will involve a significant amount of travelling both domestically and internationally.

BFC Technical Director

Fancy that :D

BFC Technical Director

I thought he was just Chief scout here.

He was Head of Recruitment after originally being First Team Scout. He's been promoted recently to Sporting Director at Watford.

BFC Technical Director

Maybe Keith Millen ?

BFC Technical Director

What's Robbie Cooke up to?

BFC Technical Director

Bob Booker available. He's got a book out, you know.

I didn't know that! Who wrote it? Are there any copies available? Might buy the wife a copy for Christmas.

BFC Technical Director

Maybe we could get him to do that job, at Brentford, if its the same money of course..
