Just read on the ex Chelsea thread that a player left the club after allegedly stealing from the dressing room...

It got me thinking about some of the behind the scenes "scandals" that in the days before the internet and social media were invented we used to talk about in the pub before the game...

I'm thinking Bates's missus extra curricular activities, Joe Allon/Mickey Bennet , Buttigieg and Mrs Perryman etc etc

Anyone got any good stories from yesteryear to share?

Vaguely remember he was signed as young defender from Chelsea and then moved on after a breach of discipline but never found out what that was about. Mid 70's? Give us a clue

According to my late uncle ..... In 1938 it was discovered that Dave McCulloch (a Bees legend at the time) had allegedly been seeing another Brentford players wife on the side. He was then suddenly sold to Derby County!

But they shook hands afterwards as real men did in those days, although Mulford never rode a bike again. I always thought the Alan Julian story in News of the World was one of the better ones. Lucky for him I say.

There weren't that many howls of protest when the Royal Oak was demolished. People were sad about it but most realised the financial situation. I don't blame Lange and neither is it his fault that we are crap at play-offs.
