Biggest Comebacks

One for the old people....

Personally I would have settled for a 5-2 win after being 2-0 after a few minutes.

But just what is the biggest comeback from 2-0 down after 10 minutes? or 2-0 at all? Have we ever won by 3 goals after being 2 down?

And just what are out biggest comebacks?

Biggest Comebacks

3-1 down away at Burton... to win 5-3 ..
3-0 down at home to MK to draw 3-3 ... Leon Legge with the equaliser..

Biggest Comebacks

I can remember being 0-2 down to Swansea at h/t and winning 3-2. I think Simon Ratcliffe scored.

Biggest Comebacks

2-0 down at home to Darlington and won 5-3 , Around 1986 . Was 4-2 at H/T . The plank scored a couple .

Have to mention , although only a one goal margin , The 4-3 against Blackburn in the cup when we were 3-1 down .

Biggest Comebacks

If I recall, in 1994, we went 1-0 down to Plymouth before turning it around and winning 5-1.

Biggest Comebacks

We've won after conceding the first goal hundreds of times - I really think we need to be looking for an occasion when we've won after being 3-0 down.

that we won by at least 2 goals....

Biggest Comebacks

A-Z of Bees (A Brentford Encyclopedia) published late 1997 only mentions 2 comebacks from 1-4 down - Luton away on 1/2/33, final score 5-5 (Jack Holliday scored all 5 for us) and Doncaster away on 16/10/82, final score 4-4 after Francis Joseph had been sent off (scenes, I recall).

M K Dons 0-3 to 3-3 on 31/12/11 a more recent addition to the 3 down to drawing comeback list. It appears that we haven't yet managed a win from a 3 goal deficit though.

Winning comebacks from 2 down have been mentioned - Darlington in 1986 (0-2 to 5-3), Blackburn 1988 (1-3 to 4-3), Swansea 1991 (0-2 to 3-2), Burton 2017 (1-3 to 5-3). I also remember 0-2 to 3-2 v Blackpool in 1979 (inspired by Jimmy Mac). There must be others.

So surely the 5 goal turnaround yesterday, given the awful start, has to be right up there as our greatest 'winning' comeback ever?

Biggest Comebacks

4-1 down at Doncaster, came back to draw 4-4, with 10 men.

Biggest Comebacks

We lost 4-2 to Leicester in the League Cup after being 2 up.

Still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about that game.
Skippy gave us the lead inside two minutes, then we were ripped a new one by Lynex and Lineker.
Second Leg was a bit lively, from what I remember.

Biggest Comebacks

I'm fairly sure we beat Torquay 3-2 after being 0-2 down in our promotion season of 91-92. Seem to remember Booker scoring.

No, we were 2 up then they equalised before Bates scored from 30 yards for the winner.

Biggest Comebacks

Funny how we can remember the games we've thrown away better than the comeback ones.

I seem to remember Marcus Gayle came on at half time and was totally unplayable.

Biggest Comebacks

I don’t think you’ll do better in many of our life times from the ones already mentioned.

The Blackburn match on Saturday has to be the biggest margin of victory from a losing position of 0-2.

Good stat. :computer:

ps let’s keep it to comebacks too! Don’t ruin the thread!!

pps start another in (bad) memory lane. :)

Quite right. Funny how my memory thought otherwise. I must have been thinking of Swansea the same season, which someone's already mentioned.

Biggest Comebacks

I think I can remember being 2-0 down at home to Northampton and winning 3-2

Biggest Comebacks

Think there was a game at home to Northampton in about 1971, when we went 1-0 down and came back to win 6-1.

Biggest Comebacks

2-0 up away from home in first 25 minutes is the most dangerous score in football. Home side score 1 before half time, get momentum, bingo. Has happened to us many times, what a delight yesterday!!

Biggest Comebacks

If only we'd conceded another one in the first ten minutes, then yesterday's game would have been more memorable.

Dixie McNeill scores after about 38 seconds. A limping Peter Gelson equalised and we murdered them.

Biggest Comebacks

If we keep up our good form, it really only requires Bristol and Derby to have half the bad patch we did, and we could sneak into the playoffs ;)

That'd be quite a comeback....

Funnily, though it didn’t seem it at the time, that’s how the Swansea home game could easily have gone had our attack that day have played with the confidence and assurance it now has. In the end it felt like a futile reaction to a desperately poor start but in the context of yesterday you can see that it is something we can do and TF doesn’t believe any game is lost until the final whistle.

Something of Klopp’s Liverpool this season about us now?

Biggest Comebacks

What about Swansea in 91/2? 2-0 down at half time thanks to the Flying Postman, John Williams and Andy Kegg and we came back to win 3-2. Brilliant!!

Didn’t we lose the first leg 3-1 up there and were 4-2 up at GP then bob booker scored an own goal off his back to put us out. :bound:

No.

We lost 3-1 away. Won4-3 at home after being 3-1 down. Gennoe made an incredible save from a Blissett header to save us equalising on aggregate and Smeulders saved a last min penalty.

The Booker og was in a 4-3 home defeat to Bradford City in 1992.

Thought you were supposed to be on holiday?
