Blackpool protest

A protest took place up at Blackpool, with Orient, Blackburn, Brighton, Portsmouth & Newcastle fans, amongst others joining them. Kevin Miles had some wise words to say at the end, especially;

''There are things in football that go beyond rivalry, there are times when we have more in common with a fan of another club, than we do with the owners of anybody. The parasites need to go, it's our game.''

I stand with these clubs in solidarity, but i'm not sure how much effect it will have. Can't help but feel for clubs who are run by those acting without the clubs best interests at heart. Could so easily be us & has been in the past.

Coventry and Sisu.
Charlton and Roland Duchatelet.
Blackpool and the Oyston's.
Blackburn and the Venkys.
Leyton Orient and Francesco Bechetti.
Torquay and Gaming International.
Leeds (Not sure if Cellino has sold all his stake in the club)
Hull City & the Allam family.

A lot of dodgy owners in English football!

There's no way the Allam family deserve to be named in the post. They've done more for Hull City than anyone else. They may have wanted to change the name to Tigers but they took them to the PL.

The Oystons took Blackpool to the premier and look at them

And looks like out again too.

Some of the behaviour there outside the club is a disgrace, I get they are angry but there's no need to take it out on the police or other fans who just want to get about their business and watch their team get to the playoffs. I'm sure alot of them don't even support Blackpool and were just there for the ruck. The rest of it was good to see

Will. be very interesting to see the attendance at the home leg, and then again if they make the final at Wembley.

Many Hull fans would disagree with you.

Most Blackpool fans refuse to enter the stadium until one of the Oystons leaves the club.

You have to say fair play to the Blackpool fans, not sure that Oyston will care either way but an empty end at Wembley sends a decent message Oyston and the EFL.

This is going to be weird, I'm going to the playoff final in the Exeter end, it will be a weird sight seeing only 4,000 at the other side in an end designed to hold 45,000...

Be like Valley Parade when they had about 3000.

Blackpool protest

Fair play to the boycotting fans but I dont think I could do the same for a final especially as a win could get them the result they want

Blackpool protest

Not a great feeling....and I was a 'visiting' Exeter supporter ha. For Brentford finals I prepare myself before hand for the fact that we may lose so it doesn't hit as hard when it eventually happens. I didn't do that today so it was quite frustrating...

Wembley is certainly not a place for losers and I have now added another notch to my bedpost! Sigh... Blackpool had about 6,000 by the looks of it who were all up for it, Exeter around 16,000 I guess. Probably a deserved result as Exeter didn't turn up in the second half which was odd as they were good in the first. A shame as out of both clubs one is certainly run better than the other!

Blackpool protest

Shame for Exeter and tisdale who continues to do a terrific job there. Thought both of them looked more impressive than Millwall and bradford in the league one play offs, but it's only one game I suppose. Lots of players looked mullered after 60 mins

Talk about a mess!

From what I can gather, Blackpool FC were finally put into Receivership last week:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47229992

This followed an earlier failure by, (the entirely loathsome) club owner, Owen Oyston, to pay former Director Valeri Belokon some £25m which is still owing after a previous court in November ordered Oyston to buy out Belokon's share of the club for £31m:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-41890855

And Receivers have now been appointed to try to find a buyer for the club:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47284650
(Afaik, Belokon may not buy them, since he has - I think - failed the EFL's "Fit and Proper Test", which may be a first!)

Meanwhile, the EFL say they will work with the Receivers to ensure the club fulfil their fixtures this season. And they must also decide whether to dock the Tangerines up to 12 points for going into receivership. Such a deduction is available under EFL rules, but apparently not mandatory.

What's the betting they wait to see whether Blackpool could survive relegation even with a deduction? They're currently 15 points above the relegation zone, with a game in hand, also with an outside chance of the Play Offs:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/league-one/table

Meanwhile, from what I can gather, rather than despairing totally at what a mess this all is, it seems Tangerines fans may actually be (nervously) hopeful about this, since it may finally see the end of the Oyston family's involvement in their club, for which they are prepared to pay any price:

Blackpool are not a club I have any feelings about either way, but I can't help feeling glad for their fans, even though I don't know any. :sorted:

Blackpool protest

My father-in-law and associated are all Blackpool supporters, and many of them have stayed away for at least the last five years. Some of them only do away days, so as to not put money into Oyston's pockets. Last game I went to (probably about five years ago) there was a fans walk-out halfway through the first half, and constant protests - including from the away fans!

Just spoke to one of the "away only" fans - said they're planning a massive party for the first home match when Oyston officially won't be getting any of their money. Should be a good one! It's massive for the club and fans, and I hope they don't get docked points.

Blackpool protest

The club shouldn't be docked points as soon as their owners (who caused all the issues) leave. That makes no sense. It would then be the fans picking up the bill and being punished for something they had no involvement in and actively protested against.

Blackpool have had a cloud over them for many years, it will be good when they can finally have that breath of fresh air when they realise they are free. Oysten paid himself £11m when they were in the Prem, which made him the highest earning Prem owner ever at that point.

Blackpool protest

I don't know how constrained the League are by their own rules, and there must be a risk of challenge from other clubs, but it would be a great gesture, and a final two fingers to the odious Oystons, if they waived the points penalty in this case.

That would be setting a dangerous president.

Local man Simon Sadler has been confirmed as the new owner of Blackpool FC.

"Sadler, who was born and raised in Blackpool, has worked in asset management in Hong Kong since 2007.

In addition to purchasing 96.2% of the club, Sadler takes control of the Seasiders' stadium and adjoining hotel.

The deal, in which Sadler is acting in an individual and personal capacity and not through a third-party company, also includes the club's training ground."
