Blatherwick

Blatherwick

unlucky for him really, he did play well against us always. Wonder what lower division footballers do for the next 40 years or so?

Blatherwick

Yes - a very good player. Only surprised he didn't retire with a persistent head injury.

Don't say that. It reminds me of poor Jeff Astle.

Blatherwick was certainly too good for Burton and Rankin ... and the route one style always employed against him by our then manager.

Blatherwick

A solid professional - no higher praise of a defender than how relieved we all are that we'll not have to face him again.

Hope his future is a very successful one.

Blatherwick

He started at Forest so may be ok financially.

An excellent defender, probably the best of his type at this level for a number of years, though it might have been the way we played against him

I reckon he'd make a decent manager.

Blatherwick

Hated Blatherwick with a passion! Cant begin to describe how much he wound me up! Cant believe how gutted I am to see him forced out of playing! A solid old fashioned centre back who always played well against us. I wish him all the best, I'm sure there is a future in the game somewhere for him.

Blatherwick

He was a donkey centre half .. but a bloody good one !

He headed everything that came his way and got his boot on everything ... and like others have said .. I wished he had played for us :D

Good luck to the fella in his retirement :sorted:

Blatherwick

Says a lot about him that so many recall him with a sort of grudging affection. It's easy to remember the flair players or those who wind you up (or, in Leon Knight's case, fit both categories) but for a solid centre-half to be remembered shows he was one of the best of his type. Good luck to him

Blatherwick

I always thought we could of done with him. He just done what a centre back had to do. Good luck geezer.
