Steve Phillips & Andy MacCulloch?

No one has mentioned:

Block Brooks McAdams Dick McLeod

If I remember rightly (almost impossible at my age) four of them scored double figures in goals in the Fourth Division promotion season.

It was a long time ago and in a much lower division. Brooks, McAdams and Dick all got over 20 goals each, if I remember correctly. :)

I learnt off by heart one of the first teams I ever saw: Cakebread, Coote, Gitsam, Gelson, Dargie Higginson, Summers, Brooks, Francis, Dick, McLeod. I only mention because quite a few are in the above post. I think previously NLB said this would have been around 62/63 ish.

I seem to remember Holdsworth steaming down the wing and crossing to John O'Mara who scored with aplomb.

Not sure if I'm mixing era's or not but I do believe that no thread of Brentford strikers should exist without a mention of Big John so at least I've fixed that. ⚽

At the risk of a whoosh. Seriously? 20 years apart.

I was about to, but couldn't remember who played alongside for an acronym. Who did by the way?

Going back to 1983 the front line of Joseph...Cassells... and Bowles . They were really capable of digging us out of a tight hole.

Excuse me, haven't you missed my favourite ever player, Gary Roberts? Stanley played behind them.

Today’s game was one in which we didn’t play that well but BMW carried us to a comfortable victory. QPR aren’t a great defensive unit and they had an absolute field day.

On top of that, I thought each of them put in a solid defensive shift - even Benrahma, for which the lack thereof has been a consistent criticism.

I thought we were fantastic in first half. Shape was good, pressing was excellent and we produced really good chances. Balls over the top to Watkins also worked well and is a different tactic for us

BMW

Between 19th and about 40th minute we were incredible!!!!
Could easily have been 5 or 6 by that point!!!

I wouldn’t say we were ‘outstanding’ first half. We have played better this season. They just can’t defend, and BMW enjoyed themselves.

I fully agree, I didn't think it was a classically fluent Bees performance.
We started very slowly, had a purple patch off the back of 2 quick goals & then again only looked a threat in flashes, had to work hard when they had the ball second half.

A weakness last season was that we only scored super sexy goals, but conceded cheap goals in return.
This season, we have added "cheap" goals in the form of set plays in recent weeks & for all QPRs possession second half, we defended pretty well.
The ability to find different ways to win makes us a far greater threat this season, coupled with a much more robust defence.
