There has always been a bad odour following this lot around but the cancer of cricket and indeed the Muslim ideal that seems to be kill if crossed has really come to town.

Escobar and Woolmer RIP as your deaths are both outrages.

The whole affair smells very bad. I really hope the Jamaican Police get to the bottom of what actually happened.

What I find amazing is that the supposedly tight security was breached. I'm sure the other teams at the World Cup will be reviewing their own security measures as a matter of urgency.

We don't know why yet, although if his room wasn't robbed, it seems that it must be to do with Pakistan's elimination. Who bought total Pakistan tournament run-outs? :fishing:

I seriously doubt there was cctv in his room, so it will depend on whether there is coverage of the corridor - I wouldn't have thought this was standard, would you?

The chap heading up the Jamaican police and this enquiry is ex-Scotland Yard and Paul Condon has offered to help. I wouldn't be sure they can't solve it.

I would also like to add, since his name has come up, that Paul Condon is a ****ing ****.

My crackpot theory is that he was taken out by Muslim fundamentalists who have blamed the only non-Muslim in the squad for their failure. :shrug:

I would guess that 90% of us thought Leroy was an arse and that McLaren is a joke but would we want them dead? What next, Flintoff hits a century in Lahore and is bumped off?

No probably not. But quite simply, you get hold of everyone that entered the hotel after Woolmer - and you can't tell me that there isn't cctv in the reception area.

I imagine the majority of Pakistanis are just as upset, if not more upset by Woolmers murder than we are.

I also imagine the Jamaican authorities are quite capable of solving what happened to Woolmer.

A very sad business this all round.

One rather fat gentleman's name has been coming up as a likely candidate for having done this. Given that the murderer appears to have been invited into the hotel room rather than force his way in (so was trusted) and there have been suggestions of a link to match fixing (try thinking of the most famous player linked to match fixing previously), I'm sure this person's name is on a lot of people's lips as a potential candidate.

Dunno, there might not be. In any case there would have been hundreds of people passing through the reception area - it doesn't prove much really, does it?

Some breaking news on Sky a while ago is that according to the Cricket board "no Pakistan cricketers are suspected of the murder."

Interesting that they felt the need to assure everyone of that.

Not sure how the tournament can proceed if it comes to light that games have been fixed, a popular theory is that Woolmer was about to blow the lid on it and he paid the ultimate price for his silence.

Very sad day for cricket and sport.

Can we not concentrate on the tours (cricket) to Oz, NZ, WI and SA where the cricket is good and their gods are not likely to be offended by us?:idea:

SA and AUS cricketers were more involved than anyone recently, in match fixing allegations...:sorted:

I don't recall any problems when we toured Pakistan in 2005 and India last year?

I find a lot of the accusations and slurs against Asian cricket rather distasteful and we would do well to remember that something like 75% of the money generated by the game of cricket comes from India.

Hopefully Woolmer's death will prompt a few money-grabbers in the game to take a look at their actions and the consequences.

Of course, we still don't know why he was murdered.

The Indian tour was fine this year as they were beating us and the Pakistan team managed to stay on the pitch. Even the tour when we beat them they were trying all they could to get off for bad light as Thorpe was trying to win the series. Ball tampering, over zealous and embarassing appeals and notes written on paper apologising to umpires are only a few of the problems over the years and if you add the crowd trouble that you get over there and at the Oval when the Pakistan team are in full swing then you have a horrible little problem. I hope Ahktar and his mate are that badly injured and that the drugs pass through their bodies before the next test.
Anyone know where Flintoff lives so that I can burn his house down please?

I have to add that the Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan cricketers I have worked with and met over recent years have all been impeccable in their demeanour and attitude unlike one or two Australians I could mention (but I wont)!:nono:
I have always wanted to watch a test match in India and, last week, I was invited over with free flights accomodation, board and hospitality tickets etc in November 2008 by an Indian member of our club!:cool:
(Not to mention this summer's game at the Oval)!
I would have no problem watching cricket in Pakistan and Sri Lanka either!:wave:
