booing ron noades

I don't know if booing ron noades before kick off on tuesday was a particular good idead as it could have lifted the away fans. Play off semis and people were booing, seems a bit stupid to me!

Since noades took over we have won div 3, got to ldv final, got to play off final, got one of the best managers in the country, have seen some of the best players come into the club I have ever seen in 30 years. Also we hasve not tried to sell of our whole squad ven though a bosman is looming. Cut the bloke some slack! OK, so he has tightened the purse strings (or cut them off) in the last year, but we have seen the arrival of 50 odd players in that time. We may be in the debt financially, but on the pitch it has never been better...lay off the booing until it is the right time and place!

He may leave us without a penny, but he joined us without as penny and we have the best team we have had for 50 years and the best manager possibly ever..as I said, save the booing for the right time and the right place!!
He may actually end up leaving us in the first division!

mhbee, dont want to get embroiled in old arguments, but are you really sure you believe in what you are saying?

BFC will be miles better once ceratin members of the current set up are gone.

I appreciate all that SC has done but its HIM not others that have achieved it. Look at the same players last year and the difference he has made to them, not teh chairman, which allegedly they dont like either...

Who brought Coppell here? Who brought the players here? While I don't hold a torch for the guy, I find it difficult to believe we'd be in the (footballing) position we are in without RN.

Well said, Mhead Bee. Completely agree with you. Sadly you won't get anywhere with the anti-Noades faction. They've made their minds up that he's the devil incarnate and nothing is going to persuade them otherwise.

Like I've said before, no wonder the guy wants out. I just hope when we get promoted next week he decides to stick around and prove them all wrong.

JimP, Chairman Noades has created the mess the club is currently in. Contrary to what good old MHead says above Chairman Noades arrived at a debt free club and he wiil leave us £5m or thereabouts in the mire. Bearing in mind the large profit made on Herman, just think of how much worse it could have been!

Whilst I can only agree regarding the present playing staff, manager, aspirations etc. I am really concerned at the finacial mess we are now in. I hope that you are not one of those that thinks Chairman Noades has been using his own money in this fiasco. If you didn't know he is mortgaging GP up to the hilt. Our club's assets and long term future gradually being eroded. If you are happy with that then so be it. But I am certainly not!!!!

When he has gone and some of the 'background' information comes to light you and some others will spend the rest of your lifes slagging him off ;) ;) ;)

I happen to agree completely with maidenhead Bee, but whether you agree or not this is an absurd time to raise it. We should all be focusing 100% on May 11 not on negatives. I have been a Bee since 1961 and in that time can not think of a chairman who was particularly popular, however, some of the vitriol directed against RN is over the top. As for the "background information" if Brickie chap has it share it and base it in fact and not conjecture. Again lets focus on our team and get the result we all want.

Pittsburgh, I beat you by a year, and went to my first game in 1960. Totally and unequivocally agree that the time is not now for booing RN (those who have read my previous posts will know that I am most definitely not an RN 'apologist').

It's time to channel 100% of our energies towards the team. get to Cardiff, bring loud friends, cheer and sing until you are hoarse.

Bees together, we ARE the twelfth man!

Believe! The Bees ARE goin' up!

Agreed about looking only at the next 8 days but someone has to look longer term  and it doesn't appear to be you ;)

Why? What is your provenance? I don't know anything about you. Your profile doesn't help. There's little more annoying than feeding a line without backing it up with evidence. If you are prevented from sharing this evidence, please tell me something about yourself to convince me to trust you.

As always, the mention of RN sends temperatures soaring. Bearing in mind that all Bees fans with any heart have just gone through probably the most intensive/stressful period in the club’s history it’s hardly surprising that… and it’s only going to get more intense for another week.

The single most impressive feature of this year’s team is how cool heads have prevailed in circumstances which would have defeated most/all others. We should be the same… Rudyard Kipling and all that.

Brickie Chap is absolutely right that someone has to look longer term; other contributors are right that all energies should be focused on May 11. These views are not mutually exclusive.

What I would love to see is everyone focusing on getting maximum support to Cardiff. As soon as we are promoted, I would like a full and frank public review from BIAS/ABeeC of where we currently stand, what RN is actually up to and what we ordinary supporters can best do to help in practical terms. Surely that’s the right order ? (In the meantime I’d love new contracts for the Griffin Park Four/teen, but we’ll have to live in the real world, I guess).

Having watched the Bees for 25 years, I never thought I’d see a team as good as the promotion side of ’92. Thankfully I was wrong - we are truly privileged to have this team and this coaching staff. Don’t forget we are also privileged to be Brentford fans and to have each other - 5000 of us that turn out rain or shine, top of Division 2 or bottom of Division 4. Fans that outsing Huddersfield in their own back yard; fans who form their own political group; fans who elect their own councillor;

So take a step back, pat yourselves and each other on the back, rest those voices for Saturday and have a few cold beers. My son is 4th generation GP and at 6 years old is already as excited as that very excited person who's got a special reason to be excited. How do I calm HIM down ?

As a previous post implied, we will still be here when RN has gone - like Dan Tana, Martin Lange, W£bb etc. beforehand – and the best way to make sure that OUR club prospers is by doing what we always do, getting behind the team. U Reds.

As is well known, I won't have a word said against Noades!! Thousands of words, yes. One word, no.
The man is even at this moment trying to shaft BFC, via planning permission and other dodgy routes. He is a lightweight businessman with lightweight ideas. Before he got Crystal Palace and met an idiot called Goldberg, he ran tinpot businesses with tinpot profits.
He is full of tinpot ideas - you've only got to look at his outbursts and actions to see that.
As Brickie Chap says, when the full facts come out, you will be able to write a book about his antics.
Me, I wouldn't pick him up to throw him - unless it's out of Griffin Park.

booing ron noades

Diverging slightly, Baffled, I know Mark Goldberg, he is a Palace fan through and through, he started selling of a barrow and built up a multi million pound business. He was his own worst enemy as far as Palace is concerned. He made RN an offer than no one would refuse, much like ITV Digital did to the league clubs.

You cannot blame RN for the Palace fiasco, if anything it is MGs nievety not his lack of love for Palace or anything else.

Lets get May 11th out the way.

If we win, we are in division 1, a new chapter in the life of Brentford, a positive chapter in the life of Brentford.

And when RN delivers a planning consent on GP that can help fund the newly found 20,000 seater stadium with loos that dont flood, proper catering points instead of caravans or tin shacks, a PA system that Peter Gilham cannot bust with his Pavaroti like singing and a team that can not only hold its own in D1 but push for the Premiership, will there still be chants of Noades out? or will it be Sir Ron of Brentford walks on water?

I've been a supporter of this club for over 40 years, what do you think long term is. You do not follow a club like Brentford without long term views and aspirations. Your comment smacks of arrogance and is unwarranted, again the only focus right should be May 11

Noades Expected us to boo him. Would be more of a surprise come May 11th if everyone cheered him though. And gave loads of 'ronny noades barmy army' It'll confuse the hell out of him.
I don't know what Noades wants to do with the Bees and I'm not sure he does too. But with or woithout Noades. They'll always Bee Brentford fc.

Sorry, JBN, none of this is going to happen. Work it out for yourself. £13m if we're lucky for GP. £5m to the biggest clown in football (the money he says was used to fund us), a hand-out to Fred West for overseeing the planning permission (Noades lacked the wit and wisdom to do it himself) - you're left with about £6m with still bits and pieces to be paid off.
You might, if you're lucky, have enough to build a chicken shed.
Noades knows this - but by that time hopes to be long gone.

Baffled......surely not even Ron Noades KNOWS what Ron Noades is going to do. That is the enigma of the man, its why he is very different. In time we may judge him. At the moment, as thats all I can judge him on, we have the best footie team I have EVER seen in our colours - we would decimate the team of '92 with ease - the BEST manager I have known, the best marketing team, the best spirit amongst fans, the best PR.......(OK RN is poor at this but give GH, PG ST and others credit, surely

  )...we are just 90 minutes away from the best part of BFC's history.

Baffled.......cant we just enjoy the moment? :( :(

WHat i dont understand on here is the lack of perspective over the financial position of our club. Its not sheer coincidence that there are 30 clubs in financial danger, not all clubs are ran by bad chairmen. The finacial position on most clubs have been jeopardised by increasingly player wages and the bosman ruling and the rise of premiership football with sky television. This has meant clubs in the lower division have been unable to make profits, and clubs in our position, with low crowds and lack of facilities find it more difficult to make profit. Now what i ask you is how is Ron a bad chairmen at finances when he has made it so the wage bill is the second lowest in the league behind carlisle and yet have a squad which many deems to have the most quality of any brentford squad ever. That does not sound like bad financial planning to me, were running on the bare minimum with maximum talent. Also lets not forget that apart from gavin, who wanted to leave, and gibbo, we have kept the make up of this squad including evans and Owusu. These are not the actions of a man who doesnt want to see us succeed. Also i do believe it is not Rons fault the stadium issue has progressed, the local council as wed all recognise has been unhelpful, yet we all throw this episode back in Rons face anyway. Fans are unhappy that he has tightened the finances, but ur all critical of chairmen like Goldberg who threw at the club and failed disastrously. The point is none of our chairmen have been popular with the fans, and i think we would only be happy when someone like al fayed took over and pumped ridiculous money into the club till it succeeded, well that just aint gunna happen. The point is none of the anti noades lot seem to know what they want only that what they dont want is whoever is incharge at one time. Now as much as i like the idea of fans running the club i do not see this as an immediate solution to our problems and the one vital question that worries me is, where is the money going to come from? you cannot run a football club on good intention alone and i dont want to see a body take over whos only instinct is survival if it ends up with us in the thrid division or worse. I dont know how much you can look into what happened at bournmouth but they arnt in the second division anymore (and yes they have a new ground, but they had space and a helpful council.) Ron Noades personality is to put it mildly, a complete turn off, the woking saga was stupid, however we got out of the third division at the first attempt, we have seen good players bought to this club and were one weekend away from promotion. Given the size of our club and the economic climate in football in the last few years we are in the lucky position of being one of the 6 clubs immediately faced with going out of business thanks to ITV digital, would we be in such a position if the fans were running the club? i doubt it.

booing ron noades

Interesting to read all the various comments regarding RN. Just one question, Would you buy a used car from RN, nuff said!!

booing ron noades

Jock Bee, Should that read 'used club' or was it used car?

The thread started on what RN has done for the club as far as promotion and finals are concerned.

We are in a position that many other clubs are in as a result of ITV digital and that great god MONEY.

Players want more, fans want more, you cannot please them all.

At the start of the year, I was with the Noades out brigade, in hindsite, it was a shortermist view.

RN has given BFC plenty over the years he has been in control, he has also given us stuff to worry about, but Brentford was a bit of a drifting oil tanker before Ron came on board. We have been to Cardiff for a final, we have been promoted as champions. We have a squad that gave Newcastle a run for its money and a quote from Mr Robson, 'this is the hardest game we have had this season'.That is big praise. Look at the positives, there are 92 clubs in league, less than 10% make a profit, which leaves 83 left. We are not ManUe or Ar5e, we are BFC, BEE proud, BEE Positive.

Lets give Ron some credit, as others have said we haven't done that bad with him in charge. His management style might be questionable but we have achieved. Lets see what happens in approx a months time. If he leaves who takes over and will the new chairman put money in. Can the supporters bid say up front that they can put money in.

Whatever we achieve under Ron, even if we became the "Man Ure of the South", the anti Noades brigade on here will still be looking for the "smoking gun".

When we get what they want, i.e Noades out, watch the clubs financial situation get significantly worse, fast. Then, who will they blame? Ron probably.

actually I spent so long trying to decipher the gramatical errors and other misnomers in your post that I lost the thread completely   :p

However, we do know what we want, and I can assure you that I would much prefer having a 3rd division side with a future (albeit relatively small) than a club homeless, soul-less and devoid of any future except the scrap heap. But at least then i can bring my kids to the Wimpy development and explain what I used to get so worked up about on Saturdays and why I travelled to over 60 other grounds around the country on cold wet nights in January. Yeah, to see how the brickwork and patios compared - doh.

I stand behind my viewpoint that this club would be better off without members of the current set up - I am proud of the players and SC this season - but the constant hampering of success by the incumbent upper management team is a disgrace.

Now over to you pro Noadeites who no doubt want him to be the next prome minister and King aswell

Idaho here's how it works. When Ron leaves and wants his money back from Barclays he can either sell the club to a new buyer, who guarantees the overdraft with the bank. His only other option to allow himself to withdraw his "funding" is to sell the sell the one asset that the club owns, that is also the asset that was borrowed against in the first place, Griffin Park. Bearing in mind he wants out this summer (his words) and has made no attampt, that can be seen to sell BFC as a going concern which do you think is likely?

Luton, I fully understand these are our only two options, and it is unlikely that we will find another benefactor to guarantee the debt and keep the place running.

Hence my desire NOT to run Ron Noades off - the alternative is worse.

On the second alternative, once the ground is sold, lets say for 17 Million quid, the debt is paid for, say 5 million, that will leave us with 12 million quid and a new stadium to build. And a Football club to run.

My point is that those who complain on here about everything Ron does, will find that it is not as easy as they think to run a club.

Another thing, if Ron was only after his money, why is he bothering to talk up the value of the ground, why not just sell it for 8 million quid, take his 5 and leave us with just 3 million?

The fact is that most clubs are in financial trouble these days. Many have spent much more than Ron (and not of their own money either) and have far less to show for it. At least for our 5 million we have a significantly better squad to show for it.

It's easy to complain, not so easy to do a better job. To boo the man who's taken us from Division 3 to the verge of Division 1 is crazy and self defeating. Ron, despite his piss poor PR skills, has guided several clubs to success, let's let him continue to do the job here instead of driving him away.

WE CANNOT MOVE FORWARD WITH HIM HERE - NOT MY WORDS BUT THAT OF PARTNERS WILL NEED TO WORK WITH

YES - BUT THE FIGURES ARE NOT THAT GOOD

BECAUSE HE IS A BUSINESSMAN(AND A VERY GOOD ONE AT THAT)

The fact is that most clubs are in financial trouble these days. Many have spent much more than Ron (and not of their own money either) and have far less to show for it. At least for our 5 million we have a significantly better squad to show for it.

NOTED - BUT REMEMEBR CHAIRMAN RON CLAIMS TO HAVE TOLD THE FL WHY THE ITV DEAL WAS SO WRONG - BUT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WITH OUR FINANCES - WHY?

AS FOR THE SQUAD - MOST ARE LEAVING - ARE WE IN A BETTER POSITION NOW? THE MAJORITY CAN NOT STAND RON(MORE TO COME ON THIS ONCE HE LEAVES). HE HAS GIVEN US COPPELL AND FOR THAT I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL

WE HAD JUST BEEN RELEGATED TO OUR LOWEST LEAGUE PLACING FOR 20-YEARS, A MONKEY COULD HAVE GOT US PROMOTED, THE STANDARD IN DIV 3 IS APPALLING.

OLD GROUND I KNOW - BUT RON 'MISLEAD' THE FANS AT THE START BY INDICATING THAT IT WAS HIS OWN CASH NOT THE CLUBS FUTURE HE WAS GAMBLING WITH - WOULD THAT HAVE CHANGED THINGS? I AN DMANY OTHERS THINK SO.

AS RON SAID TO A NUMBER OF BEES FANS ON THE WAY TO THE WORLD CUP IN 1998, 'I ONLY EXPECT TO BE HERE FOR 12-MONTHS, THEN ITS BACK HOME TO PALACE' AS HE DROVE OFF IN HIS LAND ROVER,W ERING A PALACE CLUB TIE AND WITH A PALAC BADGE IN THE BACK OF THE CAR - AND THAT WAS AFTER HE HAD TAKEN OVER AS OUR CHAIRMAN
