Maybe the reasoning behind taking the tops of the bottles is justified here.

Seems to me the obvious course of action here is for the club to stop selling beer in bottles in the Brook Rd. Just insist it is poured into a plastic gass. I know it's not trendy to drink out of a "vessel" other than a bottle but tough luck. I'd like to see somebody smuggle a plastic glass of beer into the stand and if they did would they have the stupidity to throw it.

Just one other small point. Why in the bar at the back of the Braemar stand is there a sign up saying children are not allowed in the bar. Just asked because on saturday I saw a guy go in there with his two young kids and a steward came and hauled them out and made them stand outside while Dad bought the coffee and sweets etc.

Seeing as there are open air bars all over the ground surrounded by kids this seems to be yet another example of the law being an ass. Or is it just the clubs over exuberant interpretation of the law. I dont remember there being any law about under 18s not being allowed into an off license so why does it apply to this bar. (certainly doesnt apply to Stripes does it!!) Double standards.

Its the law being an ass. I can well imagine the authorities not being overly keen to give football clubs liquor licenses either, so the club has to be pretty vigilant (though there are always going to be over-zealous stewards). Not necessarily. At lots of festivals/gigs beer is served in plastic or cardboard pint cups. It is also poured in advance, so for example 100 pints could be poured between 15.30 and 15.45 ready for the half time rush (no idea how many we serve, probably more). The beer might not be quite fresh out of the pump, but if people tolerate it at festivals they will tolerate it at GP.

As for warm beer, well at this time of year surely there is no danger of it being warm!

It is the first time in 7 years we reach the 4th round, which for most of them is the first time they have seen or can remember.

It doesnt exactly tarnish the name of the club does it? a couple of people on the pitch on the pitch. We'll be all over the news won't we, " a full scale riot". No only a few kids on the pitch. big deal

It p1sses me off the way that there's exuberant non-violent pitch invasions all over the country all the time & yet we always seem to get picked on & told off for it. Before anyone asks no I wasn't on the pitch on saturday & I wasn't impressed by the daft behaviour of those who went up & offered out the Reading fans after last year's match but at the end of the day a few lads jumping on the pitch when we score or win a big game doesn't do anyone any harm does it? There's certainly far more serious matters for the authorities to worry about (like making sure nationwide league clubs use that yellow ball or dreaming up great ideas such as sudden death extra time & letting Man U drop out of the FA cup when they fancy it.)

I'm cheesed off with all this bleeding heart stuff about people throwing things and running on the pitch. These are elements of what makes football such a fantastic experience. It is these small things that still seperate the football we love from the prawn sarnie brigade in the premiership. By all means carry on and let all of the character and charm be taken out of the game but don't expect me to enjoy it.

It pisses me off too. Half a dozen fifteen yr olds jumping on the pitch is hardly a full scale riot is it? All they do is make themselves look stupid.

It seems that some people on here almost WANT the club to be fined by giving these relatively minor incidents so much coverage.

The bottle was full, not empty. I didn't bat an eyelid at the bottle thrown at Loftus Road because I didn't see it and until it was pointed out on here, I was completely unaware of it. I condemn both bottle throwing incidents.

The pitch invasion at the end was ridiculous though. We defeated a team less than 20 places above us in the table. It wasn't sensational, nor was it a giant killing. It made our a club look small fry, and an embarrassment.

The only thing our club will get for that is an unfair fine for "failing to control fans". Perhaps we should explain to our young pitch invaders that if the club cannot afford to pay the fine, and it is in effect the straw that breaks the camel's back, there will be no opportunities to pitch invade in the future as the club will be dead.

Because both bottle throwing and pitch invasions are illegal not 'a bit of fun', and could result in fines paid from money we simply do not have.

Tell you what, if you want to run on the pitch, lodge a £5000 bond each with the club against any potential fine and run around with impunity.

I'm not a sad old git, just someone who does not want either the reputation of our club tarnished or our finances diminished by the actions of just a very few 'fans'.

You seem to have come here with the sole intention of justifying the pitch invasion, one of which also included a couple of lads in their late teens struggling from the grasp of policemen as if they were gangland criminals. Perhaps I will introduce them to a few of my pals/relations at a future game!

Seriously though, what I am trying to say (i'm not an old git - i'm 25 for your information) is that many people still don't realise that our club is in such bad shape financially. One £5,000 fine for a pitch invasion (however minor) could put our club out of business. Things have got that critical. We are not trying to be killjoys, we are explaining why these young Brentford fans are harming the club.

Castle - to answer your question, yes I did also used to run on the pitch at GP. Traditionally on the last game of the season as did pretty much everyone else on the terraces. However, that was before it was illegal to do so and I didn't risk the club getting fined.

Oh there is a way to stop them. As I have just said, it's a criminal offence and carries a £1000 fine. Looking at the lads who did it on Saturday, I can't imagine too many of them could afford to pay....

I wouldn't wholly insist that last Saturday's pitch invasion was 'friendly'. It didn't look too friendly when one of the cops was getting a kick in the leg.

Also expect to incur the wrath of the club and rational supporters because the club may be fined as well. Money that we can ill afford.

You can also be stopped by not being admitted to the ground in the first place. A policy I hope the club enforces on you and your ilk as soon as possible after the CCTV pictures have been inspected.

I don't want to dredge this up again, but I think the point is that most people don't have a problem with running on the pitch at all. I've done it before (albeit around 10 years ago) and I know loads of people that used to celebrate goals with players. Remember what the last game of the season used to be like when we ran on the pitch, and danced about like crazed lunatics!

However, in this PC world we live in, it is now against the law to do so, and "can" cost the club in fines. If I am wrong, then fair enough, I'll say nothing more about it, but if I am right, then I don't want the club to be fined. I also don't want people to stop enjoying themselves, but for the cost of staying in the Brook Road, versus the cost of a fine, I'd rather they stayed on the terraces.
If we can relax the rules for running on the pitch, then great, you'll probably see me leaping around soon enough!
