What a co-incidence that the logon starts working again when Brian states that

As part of this I have stood down as Deputy Chairman of the club - a role which was always intended to be interim until the new board and Chairman settled in and we sorted out the executive leadership of the Club.

When we took over on 20 January the Club was on course to lose over £1 million for the season and the business needed intensive care. The top priority for Bees United as the majority shareholder, guaranteeing the Clubs debts, was to ensure that the Club was quickly brought under firm control.

Greg Dyke, as Chairman, and the other new Board members have now settled in and the Board is getting to grips with things. Greg's firm and effective leadership is making a difference, and with Keith picking up all the day to day support for the Board we don't need a Deputy Chairman.

My main concern as Chairman of Bees United is the long-term sustainability of the Club and the Trust. Because of my professional background and contacts I can best help the Club by focusing on the new stadium project, which the Club Board believes is the only way to clear our debts fully and become self sufficient. Apart from this long-term goal, my first duty is to help strengthen Bees United and I would like to spend more time on this now that we can have confidence in the leadership of the Club.

It's a miracle I tell ye :bound: :bound: :bound: :bound: :bound:

I can't believe it. For the last few weeks Kathleen Richardson has been unable to notify us of news about the election and Bees United, yet, by some act of God the login suddenly works again to tell us that Burgess has stepped down as Dep Chair of the Club and will be devoting his energies to Bees United except for helping Rogers find us a new stadium of course (and PrimeTimers and CAN Online and that his work colleague that has been supporting Brentford for almost 2 years now is the Secretary of Bees United - er well actually that got missed out, but I'm sure it was a mistake).

So, apart from all the other things that are more important, Brian's first priority is to "help strengthen Bees United", He also tells us that we can have confidence in the leadership of the club that, by some co-incidence, includes himself.

PRAISE THE LORD.

Most of us are quite capable of finding our way to the BU website without articles being linked from here. The article in question was also in the programme on Saturday so your "scoop" isn't exactly news.

Sounds to me that you are just peeved because you won't be able to use your first committee meeting to challenge the dual roles now. You might need to find something useful to raise instead.

You bizarrely really do believe that Brian Burgess is bad for the club don't you. This is completely apparant from the usual sarcastic tone in your post.

If this sort of division and antipathy towards fellow board members is what we can expect during your tenure then god help the fans trust. It won't last long and we can probably expect it to implode at some point during your term of office. I hope when you look back and think that you might have contributed to that situation, you are proud of your contribution.

Think you've got the wrong end of a very very long stick

How is it "completely apparant" from my post that I "really do believe that Brian Burgess is bad for the club". Many thanks.

Bees United Programme Article for Sat 16 September 2006 v Bournemouth

Moving Forward

First of all, on behalf of everyone at Bees United, I extend a very warm welcome to Keith Dickens in his role as Managing Director of Brentford Football Club. We wish him well in his endeavours to drive the Club forward as an efficient and customer focused business.

You will read elsewhere in this programme that following Keith's appointment from 4th September, the non-executive directors on the Brentford FC Board have re-adjusted their roles in order to simplify the lines of communication and decision making and keep them as clear as possible.

Brian Burgess
Chair, Bees United

I was unaware that Bees United guaranteed all of the Club's debts as suggested by this article.

According to my records (and I take only a passing interest in matters BFC these days but retain an interest as an "investor") the following debts are not guaranteed by Bees United.

Altonwood :- £1million loan
Security :- debenture from BFC; 3rd charge over stadium

Altonwood £250k loan
Security :- debenture from BFC; 4th charge over stadium

J Herting £250k loan
Security : 4th charge over stadium

E Rogers £100k loan
Security :- debenture from BFC; 7th charge over stadium

The article states (seemingly without qualification) that Bees United guarantees all of the Club's debt so can the Bees United poster who originated this thread or any member of the Bees United board advise me please for my records exactly what liabilities (actual and contingent) Bees United has for the above and when Bees United presumably signed guarantees for these debts in order that I may update my records.

Just asking like in view of the programme article.

Thank you very much.

Isn't there also the overdraft that is guaranteed by Altonwood too.

Also is this the same club that was brought "under firm control" by adopting a budget with "substantial risks".

Perhaps you should tell Bees United who have suddenly re-discovered the ability to link their "scoop" articles in the programme from here

I'm not making any political points here Banana.

I read the link to the programme article regarding Bees United guaranteeing the debts of the Club. That was not my understanding and I have more than a passing interest in that a body to which I have lent £250,000 now has more actual and contingent liabilities than I had understood. In other words fast forward to January 2009 and let us suppose that BFC as a corporate body is unable to repay the Altonwood £1million loan. The way I read the programme article then Altonwood has direct recourse to Bees United as a guarantor and would make formal demand upon the guarantor before attacking the hard security. I am merely asking the Bees United representative who puts up the posts on here or any member of the Bees United board who reads this to confirm that the programme article is indeed correct and that my understanding is wrong. I assume that the article was approved by the Bees United board and that the content is indeed correct.

I would just like confirmation and it's not a trick question.

I posted my query regarding the Bees United statement in the Bournemouth programme on this thread as it was started by Bees United drawing attention to the programme article so it seemed to me appropriate to respond on the same thread.

However as my post had not been picked up I emailed the BU board this morning and asked the question again.

I have had a response and the bottom line is that Bees United only guarantees the Barclays facilities and the Council loan. It does not guarantee the loans of Altonwood, Eddie Rogers, John Herting or Midas Way. Chris Gammon commented that the programme article could be argued to be (sort of) correct as BU does guarantee some of the BFC debt........I really don't buy that as I submit that any layman reading the article would conclude that Bees United had guaranteed the Club's total debts.

A clarifying note will be put on the Bees United website and abee is now relaxed as he was zooming past the (former) planet Pluto and collecting airmiles when he read the linked article from which he concluded that BU had slipped in guarantees for the Altownood loans whilst his back was turned.

That'll be the Day (copyright John Wayne/Buddy Holly)......
