Bring Dons Home

Especially poignant this week but vote to get these herberts back to the dog track or market or wherever it is they used to play please. Go on my mate asked me to do it and he is a good egg http://bringthedonshome.org/

Bring Dons Home

One of my best clients who helped AFC during their recent journey financially died on Thursday - there was a tribute to him on their website over the weekend.

I'd love them to go home for his hard work and sake... RIP Martin.

What are they going to pay for it with, magic beans?

No doubt all the locals signing the petition will claim to have watched the old Wimbledon.

And what happens to Kingsmeadow - are they going to sell it and make Kingstonian homeless - or make K's pay for the upkeep of a Football League standard ground in the Ryman League?

NB I see that this isn't even a proposal from the club, but by some of their fans.

Good luck with the Lionel Rd vote by the way.

The impact on K's will be very interesting. I hope Wimbledon make sure they dont stitch them up. Thanks for the Lionel Road comment btw.

There is no way I can see that K's won't get stitched up.

They won't be be able to afford to buy the ground back so if it's not sold they will have to pay rent and maintenance for a FL Standard ground in the Ryman League. Plus it has seats behind one goal so they can't swap ends and stand behind the goal at half-time. It has all been painted in Wimbledon's colours as well.

Plus presumably most of the ex-K's fans that now support Wimbledon would follow them to Plough Lane.

The old Wimbledon were a horrible club, their fans let their club die and move to MK and the new club made lots of enemies as they arrogantly progressed up the pyramid, virtually destroying Kingstonian at the same time.

And now they plan to build a new stadium by raising money through a "community share issue." Yeah, right.

Can't disagree with anything there and thanks for your support on LR

Finally someone who agrees with my contempt for AFCW. :sorted:

The stadium they are trying to move to was the "actual" home of Wimbledon Dons speedway team until they were kicked out. Can't see anything in the proposal to bring them into the fold so count me out despite some old family ties with proper Wimbledon.

Not only that but the proposal would mean the closure of the only remaining greyhound stadium in London. So they want to screw over Kingstonian FC, the speedway team and the greyhound track to build a new stadium when they have already got one a few miles away.

In 2012/13 AFC Wimbledon had 2,647 season ticket holders; this has already been comfortably exceeded for season 2013/14.

Out of 4,000 Home Fans Capacity that is a huge Ratio !!!!

A stadium with a capacity of 20,000 funded by a Community share issue?

Looks like they've done their sums on the back of a postage stamp.

You were doing OK until you said that. Go and wash your mouth out, do you not follow football?

Flats too. And it looks like they have the company lined up to build them. Good luck to them. I don't know the full details but understand they are hoping that Kingstonian will be supportive of their plans - so presumably they'll be getting some sort of benefit from what happens to the Kingsmeadow lease.

Sorry, I'm with the greyhound industry 100%. It's a no for me.

Should be a listed building.Never to be taken away.

Friend of mine was was Mr Taggart on Saturday night who wants to convert Wimbledon into an all new state of the art greyhound stadium. His words were "it's a 4/5 shot"

I empathise for Wimbledon fans....but I'm far keener for the greyhound stadium to be re-developed into a flagship for the industry.

Me too. Can you believe they (that asset stripping B**tard Izzy Kerman) sold Slough for just £1m!!....That place would be buzzing now, great catchment area.

I have only ever been to Wimbledon dogs on a saturday and it usually seemed to be thriving. I have fond memories of a reverse forecast in the first race one evening which landed me a fair wad. I'm with Markybee on this one. When's the planning meeting so I can object?

The Wimbledon NIMBYs will be after them re the height of said flats... .

Make sure you don't enlist the help of a local councillor... .

Kingsmeadow has a covenant on it which states it can only be used for sports. Whatever they sell it back to K's for can't be at high price as there is not a market for it. The problem is the ex-corrupt K's owner who sold it in the first place sold it AFC for a ridiculously high amount and they paid it.
