Broncos move

Please ignore me if this is already known, but todays, Staines Leader has story about Broncos potentially going to The Stoop from next season.

Broncos move

the Groundsman won't have any excuse for providing such a sh1t pitch then will he ! :)

Broncos move

I thought they had signed a five-year deal to groundshare with us? Or did that go down the drain with their financial problems earlier this year?

Broncos move

'Although the move has not been made official, sources close to both clubs say it is a done deal'

'Such a move would also be beneficial to Harlequins, who have a new £8m West Stand to pay for, and will still be playing outside the top flight when Broncos arrive, probably next March'

'The Broncos have also made no secret of their desire to move grounds again as they get kicked out for a month each year while Brentford re-lay their pitch.'

'....an official announcement is not expected until next month,.....'

There is an opt-out clause for either party. With Stoop having a bigger capacity than GP when the new stand is finished and better corporate facilities, it makes sense. Harlequins need for revenue since relegation could tip the balance.

I suspect most of the BFC staff will be glad to see the back of them, as from my experience they to try to ponce anything that moves.

Twickenham residents will be so glad by this news... :D

A spokesman for BFC said there would be an official statement next April.

Followed four days later by a slightly different statement being put up in its place.

The cover up will begin on the second Tuesday of the following month.

Sounds nice. Can we move there?

Why are Broncos worried about having a ground with a larger capacity than Griffin Park??? They never manage to fill the 2 sides that they open on matchdays anyway!!

You're not kidding! If the suggestion was us moving there it would be either dismissed out of sight or the local residents would stamp their feet (or at least that's what we would be told would happen).

Surely Twickers residents wouldn't be pre-judgemental towards foobtall supporters, would they? ;)

I don't think he''ll need one.

How much cash will this lose us then?

Won't Harlequins do work on their pitch in the summer then?

Tom Stobbarts actual quote with regards to the Bronco's playing on our pitch was that it...

".......resulted in a catastrophic amount of wear on the playing surface"

So there you have it. It was a catastrophe having the Broncos at GP. Certainly not worth the pittance that they pay us.
That's of course when the cheques don't bounce.

See ya rugby types...

Broncos move

I guess they won't be getting all their merchandise in the new shop then.
However of some concern must be that they were going to be paying for 1 of the 2 staff for the shop.

Broncos move

Glad to see the back of them, our pitch was in great nick pre rugby season. MA referred to it as the lawn. As the season wore on, our pitch was an embarressment for league football.

Ahem. Sorry to be pedantic mate, but it was a Chronicle story which we 'gifted' to a sister paper. :sorted:

Unfortunately, nobody could tell me how much rent the Broncos pay before we went to press. Could be quite interesting seeing as we need every penny we can scrape together at the moment...

I thought that when it was announced as a five year deal (two years ago?) the figure of £900,000 was quoted?

Broncos move

When the new arrangement was announced the figures quoted were £900k over 5 years.

£180K pa is useful/crucial income (on paper)...

I'd rather have the Broncos than most of the tossp*ts who go along to Twickenham Stadium (seems like every week). And certainly rather have them than U 'I'm so poor so you've got to help the third world'2. BTW, how much did Bono and the rest of the one-chord wonders give to the cause from their concerts this weekend?

Broncos move

The Broncos being at GP and supplying finances/staff was part of the business case for the new club shop, so money lost there at least.
