BU Board Update

The following statement was placed on the BU web site today:

"The Bees United Board met last night (22 September) to assess progress regarding the option to purchase Brentford FC.

Progress is being made in the negotiations both with the bank and Altonwood. A major concern is the fact that, since our last meeting on 12 September, no further significant monies have been pledged toward our £1 million Appeal. The appeal fund currently stands at over 720 thousand pounds.

With 7 days to go until the Bees United Option lapses, everyone on the Bees United Board urges you to make one last massive effort to support the various fundraising activities and also encourage others to do so as well.

Jon Gosling
Bees United"

Oh well. McGlashan was the CEO of Bees United until last week and he tells us amongst the self-serving crap fed to Tony Flood that er.........(see below).

So for the "John Mac Is God" groupies should we now believe your lost leader who was "hounded out by disgruntled fans" or the new BU statement.

You tell me please.

The future of Brentford FC is about to be plunged back into doubt according to the director hounded out by disgruntled fans.
John McGlashan, who has resigned both as a director and an employee of Brentford, believes supporters' trust Bees United is unlikely to meet the deadline set for them to take over the club, which runs out next week.

He revealed: "Bees United have enough pledges to reach their £1million target.

McGlashan makes me sick. He was the worst type of CEO......."Everything that goes right is down to me and anything that goes wrong I didn't know about".........and instead of leaving with a dignified silence.........wasn't that Joe Bourke's comment on John Mac a couple of weeks ago......."he has maintained a dignified silence"...........yeah right.........he maintained a "silence" 'cos he had screwed up big time and had nothing to say........now he spouts this crap for his adoring public.

I'm sick of him and I am still saying that Bees United will not allow the September 30th date to lapse without giving notice that it is their intention to exercise the option albeit with conditions.

Interestingly he says he left because

"McGlashan decided to quit two weeks after being told he was no longer executive director, a title he was given together with Stephen Callen in April 2003."

er..........if you're told you are no longer a director doesn't that mean that you didn't "quit"

BU Board Update

Yes he was one of two executive directors but the Southampton ticket fiasco was nothing to with him and seemingly the recent financial decisions taken (with which he appears to have disagreed) were also........er nothing to do with him. It sounds to me as if the finances are not in (shall we say) perfect shape but remember you heard it here first than none of this was anything to do with John MacGlashan.

You may also recall that I posted on the GPG a week or so ago that I had emailed Brian Burgess to say that I did not now believe that MacGlashan should be allowed to resign from the board........but nobody asked me why........ ;)

After speaking to JM at the last City Bees meeting, I stopped criticising him on the GPG out of sympathy. I had asked him about the Southampton fiasco and he replied 'That was the second worst day of my life' - in other words, admitting his part in it.
Having read JM's feeble defence of himself in the Richmond comic, I have decided that my sympathy has been misplaced...
Also at the meeting was Arfur Daley - sorry, DW - who, when I asked whether as per a chairman's statement, JM had been helping him at Lionel Road, turned the question into a big joke. 'Did you know you were supposed to be helping me, John?' he said. 'No' said JM, turning the question into a bigger joke. 'I didn't.'
The puppet glove that calls himself a chairman stated that he was in his statement. One, or all three, were lying.
When JM, Arfur and King were in a car down at Southampton trying to rescue the tickets cock-up, they phoned GP and said it was down to Southampton and that the Hampshire police had backed the BFC claim. They were asked if they were sure of that - and said they were. We all know the truth of that one.
It took fictional re-writes by Graham F Hall to rectify that little balls-up
When Brentford were staring into the abyss after being beaten at home by Stockport, I attended a BU meeting - where myself and committee member John Huggins stated that without doubt we needed a new manager to replace Wally Downes. JM argued against it.
We later learned that he was in the process of negotiating a new two year contract with Downes. Only some direct action by concerned fans stopped that - and even then he wanted time to go through applications, etc.
He later tried to claim credit for Martin Allen's appointment by implying that he knew rapid action was required.
When the Tea Boy paid out for the cancellation of a trip to the Noades golf course in double fast time, I asked JM why it had been done so quickly. 'What's that got to do with BU?' he asked me. The answer, of course, was everything - but he couldn't see it.
Morale in the BFC offices was at a low ebb under his stewardship - he hadn't a clue about running things and it showed. One man described him as 'a cancer within the club.'
I could go on about other shortcomings, but they are almost endless.
The final straw for me is that inane interview in the Richmond Romper. To try and shaft BU on the eve of the option possibly being taken up makes Judas look like a saint.

Given the denseness of the glove puppet and the defence of JM by the puppet, I just wonder if there is a hidden agenda.

Could you do the historic review piece in the programme, because I'm sure Graham Haynes will paint a differenct picture. ;)

"We have spent money we shouldn't have after turning a £1million loss into a profit."
From the same interview. Does anyone know what he means here? Is this the wage bill or allocating funds in the budget like Smudger and Broncos money. Did JM have no say on how money got spent at BFC?

It seems that he was on our side all along. or have i mis-construed this statement.... :(

Was he "hounded out by disgruntled fans" or did he "decide to quit two weeks after being told he was no longer executive director"? Cause they don't sound the same to me.

Before you go to the Brentford Always site for good Kay 4 Bee......... can you advise us please whether to believe the above statement or the one made by your hero John Mac (that's right the one we hounded out) in this weeks Richmond & Twickenham Times that BU already has pledges of £1million and that the problem lays with getting a final agreement from the bank rather than raising further monies.

A not unimportant point I hope that you will agree so as BU and the man who until a week or so ago was BU's CEO seem to be some £280k apart I suggest that you make a few telephone calls, get the facts straight and then either give the lie to MacGlashan's particularly unhelpful comments or er.........tell us that BU can't add up they've now done a double check and that we need not worry any further about fundraising.

Only asking like.

Look Kay 4 Bee, you clearly support Brentford FC so that ticks one box on my list but then you go and spoil yourself with all of the other crap.

However I have enough enemies on here so I'll try again with you and I'll also type this very slowly so that you can understand it.

I'm worried about you and the other bucket collectors........yes truly. You and the others will be shaking buckets under noses tomorrow and asking for one last push, only a week left or whatever your particular shout is. No problem with any of that EXCEPT your hero John Mac who was until very recently your CEO at Bees United sounds off to a local newspaper and tells its readers that Bees United has enough pledges and has reached the £1million mark.

Now you may have gathered that Bees United and I are temperamentally unsuited and we cannot live together........that's probably my fault as if I were on the BU board and saw what MacGlashan had said in a self-serving piece given prominence in a well read local newspaper then I would have been swinging from the chandeliers, chomping MacGlashan into strips on his mobile and getting a rebuttal out just as fast as I could. However that is not Bees United's leisurely style........it seems to be filed away in the "boys will be boys and it's just dear old lovable John Mac having his say and furthermore......." box.

This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy.....me if I see a problem then I get after it and get it out in the open........BU and its spokespersons just hope that it er.........goes away.

I do hope that BU aren't spinning a line to get a few more quid before the deadline. I'd hate to think that they're into manipulating school kids into popping of a few more texts. That would be cynical beyond words.

No they are not. MacGlashan's quoted comments were incorrect on more than one count.

He also told his adoring fans in the same self-serving "interview" that he clearly expected the Bees United option to lapse.

I am telling you that I expect Bees United to give notice to Altonwood on or before September 30th to the effect that it intends to exercise the Option and subject to certain conditions before final completion.

Fine. Let's hope that Mr Flood's BFC press pass is withdrawn Mr MacGlashen is not able to enjoy any of the benefits he might have walked away. It would some be small recompense for this ill-timed, ill-judged, inaccurate and as you say, self-serving piece.

You call that little thing a rebuttal.

STATEMENT FROM BEES UNITED

THE INTERVIEW GIVEN BY OUR FORMER CEO MR JOHN MACGLASHAN IN THIS WEEKS RICHMOND &TWICKENHAM TIMES WAS A BUNCH OF SELF-SERVING CRAP. WE HAVE NO IDEA ON HIS PURPOSE (ALTHOUGH WE CAN GUESS CAN'T WE MR MACGLASHAN) FOR MAKING SUCH STATEMENTS AND NOR DO WE APPRECIATE THE SHODDY AND AMATEURISH JOURNALISM OF MR TONY FLOOD WHO DID NOT BOTHER TO CHECK HIS FACTS WITH ANY AUTHORISED REPRESENTATIVE OF BEES UNITED BEFORE GOING TO PRINT WITH HIS ARTICLE. WE HAVE NOTHING BUT CONTEMPT FOR THE TWO OF THEM.
THE TRUTH IS THAT BEES UNITED HAS PERFORMED MIRACLES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS TO GET TO A PLEDGED FIGURE OF OVER £720,000 IN OUR BACK THE BEES CAMPAIGN AND WE NEED A FINAL PUSH TO GET TO OUR £1MILLION TARGET. PLEASE GIVE AS GENEROUSLY AS YOU ARE ABLE AND IGNORE THE STORY IN THIS WEEKS RICHMOND & TWICKENHAM TIMES.

Everything that you have written above is correct and as far as I am concerned it is only one down at the moment. There are a few more to go and then the "true facts" (copyright larrysigny 2004) will come out. I posted a week ago that if there is a eulogy to MacGlashan in todays programme from my favourite proggy ass-licker or anyone else I'm gonna get even more hacked off than I presently am. However MacGlashan has gone and the wreckage that he left behind him is being dealt with. He is far from being solely to blame and the responsibility is individual and collective. That we will have a football club to continue to enjoy will be almost entirely due to the UNPAID efforts of Brian Burgess and Joe Bourke and their team. I have nothing but admiration for them.

BU Board Update

If BU still needs close on £300k, why the feck aren't they out there in TV land banging the drum? A quick press release to Sky, BBC, ITV, etc.... "BFC is 1 week away from being sold to property developers who will evict the Bees from their home of 100 years, erect fancy penthouse suites on the site, trouser millions in profit whilst BFC play their home games in Gunnersbury Park (jumpers for goal posts) where the dream of an ex-BFC director will be realised making BFC the first true community club and..."

This is another Brighton in the making and what have the great and the good been
doing? Watching people rattle fecking buckets.
