Burnley - driving

Only way I can do this is there and back the same day.

Will be leaving Bognor about 07.00, six hour drive, with stopping. Going along the M27 to Southampton up the M3 to the A34 up to the M40, then on up.

Have room for 2, as long as one is small for the back of the car. No petrol money needed as going anyway. Don’t want to go miles out of me way, as already a long day.

PM me if of interest

Can‘t phantom why my arse is so numb today ? Could it be the hours I spent on them yesterday in the car.

Did you meet @jlove at all?

Parked in some car park about a minute from the Premier Inn which was about a 15 minute walk to the ground. Free of charge and hardly any other cars in there.

If so, I don’t fancy the chances of anyone trying to get there via Hebden Bridge.

That was exactly what we did - a weekend in Hebden Bridge. No problems getting to and from the ground.

Oh the coach was so uncomfortable ☹️
I’ll say ‘never again’ until the next time…

That's my lasting memory of my only time on a coach to an away game. Liverpool in 88(?). Never ever again and I mean it. Always driven since. Used to enjoy the train football specials. Last one I went on was Blackburn the round before Liverpool. Not sure why there wasn't one to Liverpool.

I’ve said “never again” after getting the coach so many times but the final straw was the Sheffield United evening game in 2013 when even though it was free it took so long to get back to Woking I’d have been better off walking.

Parked in some church car park next to the ground took ages to get out after the game.

Made a weekend of it, quite enjoyed our short stay in Chorley to be honest. Well priced alcohol and the locals always friendly…?

My first experience of driving to Burnley and I thought it was one of the easiest grounds of that capacity to get to in terms of getting in and out of the town and lots of places to park at modest cost within a 10 minute walk of the ground.
