Butler Bee??????????

Noticed on teletext today that Reading are thinking of letting Martin Butler go out on loan to 'Rediscover his goal scoring touch'.

Pardew apparently told the Evening post "He's not playing well at the moment and I think the problem lies with his confidence and he needs to rediscvover that".

Well what do people think?

a.) Would he spice up our forward line?
b.) Would we want him?
c.) Would he come here?
c.) Could the club afford him?

Think it's Martin Butler isn't it? Thought he was a good player a couple of seasons back but don't think he's been very good since his bad injury. Don't want anything from Reading anyway!

b.) Would we want him?
Oh yes.
c.) Would he come here?
Why not?

I'm sure a deal could be struck if Reading are really keen for him to get first team football.

Apologies Burno I did mean Martin Butler of course post has been edited accordingly (long day and a few pints I'm afraid!!!!!!)

Accept what you're saying re his form since injury but can't but help think he might be worth a shot (if you'll pardon the pun!) even if he does come from Reading (I could live with that if his goals got us into the play-off's).

I suppose it's dependent upon if Wally thinks he would be a better option than anyone currently in the squad e.g. Peters or Constantine and as previously mentioned if the SP would sanction such a move.

Worth a try if the wages are right. Quite frankly we seem to have little to lose and might actually gain.:)

Butler Bee??????????

ave it !

Get him,he might realise his mistake in joining pikeys b4 us a couple of years back ! :)

Butler Bee??????????

Sign him up Wally, I'd prefer Forster but quite frankly I'd be happy for us to bring in any forward @ the moment....

As much as I hate it that we would be helping the Sc*m out, our need is greater than my hatred of them!

Butler Bee??????????

What is the f-cking point in this discussion when our w-nker of a chairman probably wont sanction the signing?

I wonder if said Chairman has done a business plan for this proposition.

As business plans are not his forte, I'll give you a hand Ron.

No Loan striker means we drop out of the play off race within the next 3/4 matches and as a result the gates for the last 10 home matches are an average of 1500 less than they would be if we were fighting for 6th place.

On an average of £8 per person that works out at lost income of
15000 x 8 = £120,000.

Cost of signing a Loan striker for 3 months. Say £1000 per week. £12000.

Bit of a no brainer Ron really isnt it.

(and yes I know the figures above are approximate but you get the drift Im sure.........)

Exactly JT, you have to speculate to accumulate which for a so called 'businessman', Ron has no idea about!!!

Like Rons had to use his brain in the last couple of years. Could put the nail straight through his head nothing in there to hit.

It hurts me to say it, but we're comfortably out of the play-off race already. 6th place was the only one up for grabs, and we won't threaten it. Call me a pessimist, but that's the way it is.

Martin Butler would be a good loan player. Pardew knows nothing, Reading fans love him and say he works hard. He would compliment Vine, we could arrange a deal with Reading. The fact is that our season has dropped away cos we cannot score goals. We went out the cups because of this.

I think it is now critical for confidence and experience that we try and get as high up as possible, if the playoffs are out of reach then so be it. If we finished 7th and were a few points behind it would be a big morale boost for the young team and should give them a good sense of achievement in the face of what has happened.,

Butler Bee??????????

I don't see why Reading wouldn't let him come to us if we wanted to make it happen.

I'm not sure we do though :(

He could work very well with Vine, and it could push us onto a good run.

However I can't see it happening.

Butler Bee??????????

Wouldn't it be embarrassing for ROn to bring in Butler now, when he could have had him 4 years ago.

Butler Bee??????????

A Proven Striker

Butler is a proven striker who has lost his form through injury. D'ont you think it would be to the Bees benefit if we could sign him on loan and the Bees could give a good account of them selves with regard to Butler so when the loan is over He will want to return to Brentford.

Butler Bee??????????

They've got no intentions of bringing anyone in.What happened to all this talk about Prem youngsters downes was eyeing up?Personally I think downes is becoming a big sprucer like good old Noades. The squad thats there now is all your going to see turning out for us for the foreseeable future. The whole place has gone tits up.Did anyone else receive that letter this morning?Straight in the f ing bin it went, just like the club,Ive had enough of it,BO ll ocks to 'em all!

Butler Bee??????????

a.) Would he spice up our forward line? Indded, he's a gr8 player
b.) Would we want him?I certainly would, at least he can score
c.) Would he come here? I cannot see it
c.) Could the club afford him? no. sadly, but, we can always hope

Butler Bee??????????

I'm sure that Wally said he had a forward lined up who has subsequently been named in his sides European squad - does that mean an Arsenal forward?

Butler Bee??????????

Excuse after excuse,we were just about to sign him when....Downes is a very good bullshitt er!

Butler Bee??????????

Just seen on teletext that Butler is considering loan offers from both Luton and Bristol city. Surely it's worth us putting in an offer, especially since he wouldn't have to travel far.

Butler Bee??????????

Don't forget, we don't have to pay Ijah's wages now so .........

Butler Bee??????????

My recollection is that Reading were paying Butler £3k a week when they first took him from Cambridge. I'd guess that he would be on somewhat more than that now so even if we were in the running for him Reading would probably be happier for him to go somewhere where the beneficiary club were willing to pay more of his wages. Both Luton and Brizzle are better placed in the league too, not to mention potential buyers if Reading want to sell to finance a Premiership quality forward.

Butler Bee??????????

Methinks he's looking for 1st division football? Probably won't get it mind:rolleyes:
