...the logic of singing "big benny burgess" during the game when he's actually playing against us??

Fair enough, he did well last year and deserved a clap in the warm up - but that's it. I can't understand "supporting" him. What if he'd scored with that header? Would you guys all cheer then?

I know at least one person who was chanting his name, and he's one of the most hardcore Bees fans around - but this, to me, is illogical.

Yes it's certainly an odd one Fat Bee Slim. You're spot on BBB did a splendid job for us last year but he certainly didn't qualify for the Bees pantheon of hero's ala Holdsworth,Blissett, Taylor etc. A warm round of applause pre match would have sufficed following by some gentle ribbing at his lack of pace and occasional clumsiness.

Poor old Marky Mac must have been scratching his head! Once a player leaves the red'n'white stripes they deserve respect (if they earned it whilst wearing them!) anything else is a bit OTT IMHO (Mind you I suppose it helped keep people warm on a freezing night up North).

Which, obviously, you're free to do. But can you just give me a reason for supporting a player from a team that's playing against us? A reason that makes sense, rather than "because I want to"?

For those who were not away at stockport, BBB made more of an effort to acknowledge the bees fans rather than the Stockport fans. Even to the extent when he was substituted he appluaded the bees fans, this di not go down well with the locals and he got slated on the loacl radio station.

But would agree, that match was our hello, Oldham should more have been a mild ripple of applause and put last season behind us.
