I think the day will be cracking and good value for money and commend Mark et all at the club for managing to get a team. I think it is great that it is probably the team with most ex-bees in it that have gone up to a higher level.
So lay off 'slagging the club off!

NUUUUUUUUUUUUUURSE.................get the doctor, quick:eek:

To the best of my knowledge there is going to be a team of ex players game as long as enough ex players attend!!. Reading match is an additional feature to the original proposed event, why have a poll when you can get both games!!

Just to put the record straight about Exeter - they are not playing Brazil, despite the media stories. They have actually been fobbed off with the 'Brazil Masters', a bunch of 40 something veterans, some of whom may once have played for the national side and we may have heard of, but most not.

Does that make you all feel better?

It's apparently the team of '94. Still a more attractive proposition than the Reading team of '04 I'm sure you'll agree.

That depends, as the Reading team of '04 is virtually the Brentford team of '02 which, to me, is more attactive than the Brazil team of '94. I think.

the ex-Bee Reading players and Steve Coppell will hopefully be there anyway.

Not necessarily. Any ex-Bees still playing may struggle to make it if they have any pre-season training/friendlies/tours at that time.

So be it then. Anyone would think that this Reading team includes the entire Brentford team of '02. It doesn't, it's three players plus Nicky Forster. Furthermore anyone would think that the '02 team had won the the treble. They all hold a place in our hearts for the way they battled when at the start of the season no one gave them a chance, but in my eyes they are hardly Brentford legends. I don't think a big deal should be made of the fact that on our Centenary celebration day, we will be playing a team managed by an-ex manager, that includes a few ex-players who almost won something but ultimately didn't.

By then you could probably add Powell plus they have Forster from an earlier bees team.

Coppell and Downes ?

Ah yes, of course. Am I right in assuming that Paul Smith, Michael Dobson, Darren Powell, Ijah Anderson, Steve Hunt, Paul Evans, Ben Burgess and some other [person] who's name esacpes me haven't joined Reading during the course of the morning?

:)

Just seen on the Official site that Danny "Bristol Rovers are a much bigger club" Boxall and Andy "the supporters are sh*te" Woodman are going to be there.

Perhaps we should try and limit the number of people who obvioulsy have no respect for the club or the fans to as few as possible from now on???

Nah it could be fun to hear thousands boo Woodman.
Anyone who's read his book knows what he thinks of Brentford and Peter Gilham!!

Can't believe that piece of sh1t will have the nerve to turn up at GP - when he talks about "his Charity Golf Days" he probably means "his" Charity ! :mad1:

Centenary Game

Personally I couldn't care less what team turns up to play at GP.
I am looking forward to meeting the likes of Johnny Brooks, Gerry Cakebread, John Fielding. I mention these players names because they were the stars that graced our football club, when I first started going. All the past players that have the decency to attend our special day are very welcome.
A day for all of us, fans, players, ex-players the chance to show our unity. Dont forget Brentford football clubs future is still in jeopardy.

Can't remember exactly but I remember references to Bees Fans being the worst and always on at players and there was a bit about how poor Peter G was for having a laugh at his expense in a charity shirt auction..

That was Woodman all over Im afraid, keen to have a laugh at others but boy did he not like it when the tables were turned..

Remember he was always up for having a laugh and revealing bits about players for the fanzine but when we did a front page with him at a fancy dress do..he went right over the top and started to embarrass himself after a game in Stripes by slagging me and Ricko off for using the photo and having a laugh at his expense..?

Knob..

Was that the "impersonating a goalkeeper" one??

Might have to dig it out by the summer to shove it in his ugly muppet face.

Everybody apart from these Woodman,Boxall,Rowlands and Chris ****ing Kamara are welcome.

woodman & Boxall for sh1t sake:eek:   What have these 2 done to be invited? slag of the club & be welcomed in Centenary Game...GUTTED.......

Centenary Game

Seems to be a lot of bad karma here !!!

I'm in two minds about the opposition. To be honest if we had booked Chelsea the whole ground would have been full of people who couldnt give two sh**s about the centenary or Brentford FC and I think that might have detracted from the day.

Similarly, if we had organised Chertsey Town (as someone suggested) it would have been laughed at even more and would have been of no interest whatsoever.

We have taken the middle ground whether deliberately or by default and have got a team who can be classed as rivals but who will not bring thousands of fans to ruin the idea of the day but who will bring enough to boost the attendance and probably the diehards also who will appreciate the significance and can enjoy seeing players who have associations with both clubs, eg Neil Smillie. In addition it will be a great test for our first team just a couple of weeks before the season.

Personally I'm not that bothered about the main match. maybe we should make it 30 mins each way just to get it over with !!!

I am more interested in seeing the ex bees especially as I understand it is a pretty interesting list. In fact I have heard that Dougie Allder is taking it so seriously he has lost two stone. (no word of a lie).

If we can stay up this year next year is going to be fantastic. Lets not spoil it by boycotting this historic day.

You obviously haven't read his book, cos he is a boy born within spitting distance of C Palace who he has always supported and to today he still hasn't forgiven Alan Smith booting him out at 21 without getting a game for the 1st team, although he did sit on the bench for every game the season they got promoted to the premier.

Actually there wasn't much said in his book about Brenttford.
On his debut a fan gave him verbal for replacing their beloved flying pig! There was a bit about his transfer negotiations between Noades himself and Colchester, plus he was on £75K year at BFC, plus a bit about being unhappy at the dinner when PG threw him a shirt that he had auctioned which he dropped and PG made a reference to another one he dropped this year.
He is a South London barrow boy, who would sell his own mother for a fiver is the impression I got from the book as well as being a great friend of Southgate who is the complete opposite in personality. All fairly bland stuff really.

Remember the night of the shirt auction...very funny...made my nite seeing Woodman look a complete pillock....Peter G went to hand Woodman the shirt he had won and dropped it on the floor just in front of him...Peter then commented that it was just like his performances in goal !!!! Got a great laugh but Woodman's face was like thunder.....loved giving it out but couldnt take it in return....pratt !!!! lol rofl lol rofl lol

So there is a list of heroes returning to GP for the centenary on the club site, anyone know of any more or perhaps some that have said NO!

Centenary Game

It's not about who we play to be honest.

I'd rather see the greats we have had than a promoted West Ham side or some other big team.
