I thought we had far too many good midfielders in those days and not enough keepers.

All capable of scoring goals! Probably the best midfield we ever had?![]()
I think I would prefer Hurlock, Bowles, Kamara & Roberts
Will never happen and now probably to late to risk trying it out however Saunders has the range of passes required, is comfortable with both feet, has an impressive free kick and shot and the intelligence to play the necessary passes to our forwards on the ground. Unfortunately this style of play does not fulfill the Andy Scott criteria for midfield.
Playing 3 central midfield players might be one way of cutting out all of our aimless hoof ball. And with players to pass to, Saunders will thrive as he is not an out and out winger.
Scotty has changed the tactics, hopefully this is the start of a new more exciting style.
It seems to be a bit like the 4-3-1-2 that Hull used for a while in the Premier League, with Saunders in the role Geovanni played.

In this day of overated footballers, thank god I saw that four play, our current midfield would never be good enough to tie their laces, they had it all, goals, aggression, sublime skill & passion, our current lot have nothing.
Often wondered how we didn't get anywhere near promotion from div 3 with that midfield.Maybe too much off the field fun and frolics?
He hasn't changed tactics , thats the only realistic midfield we could play.
But it seemed to bring out a style of play that was more appealing to the eye ?
We haven't played that much long ball away from home .
although Hunt/Sidwell/Evans/Judaskaarnt was pretty good too

Have you seen AS interview on the OS ? I'd like him to start with last Sats formation and tactics and leave Weston on the bench to come on against a tired defence.
