Charlton Pubs
I have had a project meeting with a couple of Charlton at work in Moorgate and they have given their recommendations:
The Anchor and Hope – Riverside Walk SE7 7SS. – This is about 10 mins walk from Charlton Station and is right on the Thames – turn left from the station and walk down the road between Makro and the Storage place, the pub is at the bottom of that road on the left.
White Swan – 22 The Village SE7 8UD – this one is a bit rough around the edges and does sometimes have a fair few home fans in. From the station turn right and walk up the hill and at the top turn left, the pub is on the right, tis a bit steep, so you might want to jump on a bus all of them go past the pub.
The Pilot - http://pilotgreenwich.co.uk – about a 20 min walk from the ground, 10 mins from North Greenwich Jubilee line station. A great pub, fantastic beers and food, a bit pricey but that tends to keep the football crowds down to the sensible ones. You can walk from there to the ground, or jump on a 486 which takes no more than 10 minutes to get to the ground from right outside the pub. No good if you get the train to Charlton, only bother if you get the Jubilee line.
Greenwich before the game, there are loads of pubs to choose from and you can either jump a bus – should take about 20 mins, or the train (5 mins max) to the ground when you’re ready. The best football pub is The Lost Hour http://www.thelosthourgreenwich.co.uk/ it’s cheap, the food is great value and it is only 2 mins walk from Greenwich Station, which is a nice stop off on the way to Charlton as it’s only 2 stops away.
The 02 – again, only if you get the tube rather than the train, but there are 4 or 5 pubs, including an All Bar One, Slug and Lettuce, Harvester and Thai Silk, at least 2 have Sky Sports.
Hope it helps because I hate the pub the police direct you to after the boat for example.
