If Rooney had stamped on the geezers goolies, he would be having a testicle transplant.

It was not a stamp, more of a stumble. Rooney was looking the other way when it happened, he didn't even take a quick glance down to see where he was treading and make sure he got his studs on target!

All the time cheating is allowed to go on, then the game is danger of losing support.

FIFA/FA and all the other governing bodies need to get together and decide on a strategy.

Cheating/diving should be dealt with in a retrospective manner.

When Rivaldo got hit on the knee and went down clutching his face, he should have got a 12 month ban, instead he a 3 shillings and sixpence fine and that was that.

Deal with the cheats in strong way and get some credibility back in the game.

I am annoyed at him for not going down every time they hit him, I am annoyed at him for letting them goad him into a silly error to gain the advantage, I am equally annoyed that scum get away with these tactics over and over. In the cold light of day fifa could do the right thing. They can let rooney take all the problems coming his way but they could also do something about the cynical way the scum have tried to get the best player kicked out of the tournament.

Its about power and politics and little to do with football. England have long been out of the frame when it comes to FIFA power games, that's why our cries fall on deaf ears.

The refs know it too and with one eye on a world cup final slot they can sh*te on an England team knowing there will not be retribution, but send off a Latin player for "ungentlemanly conduct"... well that's not the done thing. ...Watch the Spanish league and you can see plenty of Ronaldo's getting away with similar behaviour every week, it is basically accepted as OK.

Why did the ref send off Rooney??.....well for me it had nothing to do with what he thought was right but what the watching assessors would expect him do, I have little doubt that Ronaldo and friends action persuaded him that he had missed something big so rather than risk the wrath of FIFA it was easier to send Rooney off..the Portugese knew this and it was clearly part of their tactics, you can't say it didn't work for them.

People watching with me, mostly French, US and other non-English, thought that Rooney was looking at the grass and trying to stay upright and certainly did not "stamp" on Carvalho's genitals otherwise he would be singing falsetto by now. Rooney was being battered around and grabbed and pushed by two Portuguese men of war which was why he has stumbling and he wound up putting a foot into the guy's crotch when being pulled backwards.

The cheating came when Ronaldhino (Man U by the way, which will please you I know) came working his sly stuff to urge the ref to pull out the red card and winked in triumph at his bench when his ruse worked.

Lots of other people saw it differently (yeah, the same game and the same incident you were watching) after viewing it many times over.
