In contentious situations could the ref spray a circle around himself with the foam thingy & if anyone enters the circle without permission it's a straight red?

i haven't seen it fully, but seen the descriptions - i remember very vividly Mike Newell's Luton doing that to us once at GP - think we beat them anyway, but it was a clear tactic - the first free-kick we were given in the second half, they all rushed the ref to dispute it. disgraceful. and that was 10yrs ago, so good luck to anyone who thinks that yesterday will lead to a clampdown...

Tbh, "Dirty Leeds" were doing it nearly a half a century ago, under Don Revie's express instructions.

In my observation, it's something which reaches a head every few years, the refs start to clamp down on it, it recedes for a while, then a few Managers start resurrecting it.

When Man U and Arsenal were top dogs a few years back, they were particularly involved, with the likes of Viera and Adams, and Keane and G.Neville always to the fore.

Rooney is one of the worst offenders, everytime the ref gives a decision he doesn't like whether it's right or wrong, even for throw ins he's in the refs face like a shot.

In November last year, the pundits were frothing over the expectation of Chelski going unbeaten through the season and winning, not only the league, but the League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League.

It was stupidly premature even by pundit standards.

The unbeaten run didn't even make the end of the first week of December.

'The Quadruple', became 'The Triple, which became 'The Double', which is now a single.

If they manage to lose the league, it will be all football fans christmases coming at once and about the funniest ever to happen in the game. Unfortunatly, I can't see it happening.

Nothing new here. The successful premiership teams have always been cynical calculating bastards going back to Leeds in the 70s who are still despised by my generation. It doesn't help when the BBC and Sky never acknowledge this. Liverpool in the 70/80s were little lower than the angels according to the BBC yet they never mentioned evil bastards like Souness, Case, and McMahon who kicked the crap out of sides. Ask Andy Sinton who was kicked out of the 89 cup match at Anfield. Chelsea are just a continuation of this. What a breath of fresh air we will be in the Premiership next season. Won't we?

one of the main reasons i dont like him even though hes england captain (which he shouldnt be)....and never looks like hes enjoying his football either....miserable annoying git to the extreme

No sympathy for QPR or Ramsey generally, but I'd have loved it if he'd given that Chelsea tramp a good kick in the nuts.

Meanwhile, Chelsea may be prevented from buying some young Japanese striker since his lack of caps and experience mean he is nowhere near satisfying the requirements for a work permit.

Of course, it must be purely coincidental that the club has signed up a new shirt sponsor, Yokohama Rubber.

Otherwise, I'd be forced to conclude that not only can they not buy Class or History, but they can't even buy Popularity....

True, but Greg Dyke is agitating with the Home Office to tighten them up.

Which is why Chelsea are also reported to be talking to another more experienced player (Shibasaki), as fallback should they get knocked back over Muto

I would imagine scoring a last minute goal that all but seals the premiership then you lose a certain control. If one of our players celebrated wildly after sending us to the prem in the last minute i wouldnt care where or how he celebrated
