if your transfer of dickson price is any thing to go buy it will be full price for every game mr mills p poor comes to mind 125000 now and 100000 grand when saints have got it for fourty apperances :nono::nono::fishing:

Cheltenham

I am going to the game as I am a student and, subsequently, can get in at a reduced rate. Wouldn't go if I was having to pay full price.

Cheltenham

It just about sums up how much they care about the supporters Andrew Mills seems like a complete idiot. If every other club can reduce prices why cant we and the simple answer of we asked the ticket office isnt good enough I am afraid.

this wouldnt have happened if BeeH was in charge:fishing:

so he was talking to those present as if they were stupid ? is that how he came across>? typical of somenone in his position ,i think, down talking to the clubs supporters...very unprofesional

I didn't find it patronising, just aloof and unconvincing. But if he can't sell a vision to fans sad:fishing: enough to attend a midweek forum then he's going to struggle with everyone else.

Time will tell if it's in the same league as Keith 'don't sweat the small stuff' Dickens.

I don't think the club owe me free entry or the like as a loyal supporter.
I choose to watch Bfc most weeks year after year and for a club that on paper does very litle, there is almost always some joy and disaster to keep me interested.

What does get to me is the crap crowds, apathy and lack of enterprise.
As a s/t holder i would rather be surrounded by a stand full of fans on freebies or discounts then a half empty ground relying on the same few thousand die hards who are there regardless of the product on the pitch.

The idea of bringing a 'real football virgin' to GP when a stand is closed and a couple of thousand are there is both frustrating and embarrassing to me. I know my mates wouldn't be back again and probably share with others their night at poor, amateur Brentford.

Equally when i do try and get people down, they are shocked at £20 for 90 mins entertainment (potentially) in pretty poor facilities. Compare that to going to the cinema or what £20 could get you in a Wetherspoons.

Why not hit the local businesses like Glaxo, Fullers, Sky etc with group offers for midweek games?

In terms of matchday turnover what proportion is purely gate receipts:confused:

What is the average spend of an adult each game:confused:

Is there a argument that getting bodies in, we will make up the loss at the gate with programmes, food, beer etc.

We only seem to bother tapping in to the same small pool of fans which will never suddenly expand and payoff and actually provides an argument for keeping costs up. If this group is likely to come anyway why reduce the price and make a loss.

If there was an occassional game where it was say an adult for a fiver with every full paying one (equating to £25 total, £12.50 each or two s/t ealrybird match tickets) then i would go mental trying to get all the blokes at work or on my football team ,who listen to our lower league stories with curiosity, down to gp.

It's one of the few things about Bfc that really f**ks me off and I guess i'm finally voting with my feet on August 10th. I'd even be willing to vote with my feet another way and help the club with flyering, etc.

Anyway, Rant over:(

Ah, this old chestnut again. Why not give out 5000 free tickets to schoolkids. They might buy a program etc. They might get hooked and spend a fortune following Bees for the next sixty years. We all started somewhere.:)

Cheltenham

Or how about going through the list of everyone who has bought tickets in the past and send them a freebie. Great PR, arses on seats, money spent on drink and food etc. Get some of the missing fans back and show them what they are missing.

Empty seats are illogical!

Cheltenham

Its a matter of doing the right thing.

I have booked Carlisle, Swindon and Bristol Rovers as have many others no doubt. It would be a nice gesture to make this game more affordable.

Guestfans

I would like to see all of the New Road tickets given to worthy groups for a game like this. RAF Northolt, Hounslow Barracks, all other service personnel.
Hospital staff, nurses etc
Scout and Brownie Groups.
Charity groups.

What would it take to contact 50 groups by email and offer them 30/50 tickets each.
What a wonderful a spectacle it would be to see a whole stand of uniformed personnel, brownies, nurses and cub scouts all sitting opposite the main stand of Bees fans who no doubt would stand to give these "guestfans" an ovation richly deserved.

RAF Uxbridge and RAF Northwood as well mate, the list is endless.
Brentford do give tickets away and work hard in the community but to be frank, their general PR is pretty sh!t.

Cheltenham

How would the club lose money by giving free tickets out?

Obviously they would spend money inside, food, drink programme etc.

If we know we are going to get 1500, why not give away 500 tickets, you wont be losing????

because inevitably these tickets end up in the hands of people who would of normally paid £20 odd quid on the gate.

Nick, you mention you have bought tickets for 3 away games there, not much benefit to BFC unfortunately.

I am with pretty much everything that has been said on this thread, it's the fact that nothing seems to have been looked at as an option, first game of the season, would have been a real good time to get a few floaters in early in hope they may come back the following Saturday for the Walsall game.

What and who are our marketing people and what have they got to say about it all, very poor offering so far.

I know that BFC don't benefit but the fact is we all spend a lot following the team and 22 quid is too much for such a game imho.

don't get me wrong Nick, I totally agree. But you can't throw into the mix that you are going to the away games as that bears no resemblence to the balance sheets at GP.

As BSG stated, there are so many deals/offers that could have been set up for this game, especially with the buzz around the club at the moment, lots won't be able to make Carlisle and if we get a good result there people would have jumped at the chance to see the Bees in competitive action earlier than Sat 14th, IF the price was right. Just leaving it as normal smacks of complete novices in the marketing area.

It is a real worry for me, we need new fans, yet don't seem to be able to offer any kind of deals for games like this.

If the reason for an offer is to attract new fans, then an almost meaningless Tuesday evening against Cheltenham ain't going to cut it.

The club has to weigh up picking a relatively attractive match, with its potential attendance without no deals, against the 'new punters' that may be attracted. I would have thought the Sheffield Wednesday Sky match was worth a "come along and watch real live football on the cheap" promotion, with ST holders getting a free programme for a voucher.

Cheltenham

With a week to go the lack of movement so far from the club in reference to dropping prices for this fixture is poor.

They should be thinking and making changes now. This would give the local papers that come out on Thursday and Friday time to publish information.

I have said constantly on here and will keep repeating that the average premiership support family can no longer afford to go and we need to tap in to this.

This fixture is at the start of a new season and if we can get fans in for an August fixture hopefully they will get the buzz and come back with friends for more until May.

Whilst i think under Matthew Benham the club is making great strides with factors like the academy in the future we still have a long way to go in other aspects.

On paper this is not an attractive fixture to pay £20 for for an adult therefore the club need to sell it to people both existing and new fans.I suggested some ideas earlier on this thread and i don't see why the club should not try something.

Why not distribute tickets to the local youth clubs.Isleworth Explorers,Brunswick boys club in Twickenham.

We have the potential to get a lot more bums on seats if the club want to do it.

I'll wait with baited breath to see if change happens.

is this for Bias OR BU to get on to straight away as arent we a fans club and the fans are giving their views and that of a strong and an important one.

Cheltenham

I think there are two different arguments here, one being that the club should use this game as an opprtunity to attract new fans - which I don't necessarily agree with - the other being that it should take a hit and drop prices as a thank you to the loyal few thousand who will turn up.

All the marketing PR opportunities suggested are good but not right for this game and would be better implemented at some point during the season.

But for crying out loud BFC, drop the prices for this game or you could well find yourself with a sub 1,200 crowd. Is anyone listening?!

As I stated before, why don't BU sponsor the game.
Give each member a free ticket and if you make monthly donations to the club, give another ticket for a guest. A nice way to say thank you for the regular donations to the people who help bail the club out.

This could be extented to BIAS and Lifeline members.

slighty disagree mate its a perfect game with it being the holidays, a cup game so there has to be a winner so even if goes all the way the new recruits in the ground will get the full vibe! Most other clubs have done it too to get that extra couple thousand in to generate money not only on the gate but in the shop, food, beer!

things like this will only go in the clubs favour, no point doing it later in the season when people got season tickets and then moan that they are losing out on offers that non members are getting.

its easy

£10 for adults
£1 under 16

get tickets out to local clubs to attract new fans and keep kids off the street in the holidays

we do good deals already at the club and did throught the season but this is a good marker for getting the regulars down there and for the kids to go and enjoy a GP cup night! After all were gonna win it this year!

Cheltenham

How would they lose the £22 on the gate!
Like I said if it comes to 7:45pm on the eve of the match if they went and have 500 tickets out free that ahd not been sold how would they be making a loss?

For a fans owned club we have issues were the majority are not happy about and it continues!

mate you dont lose!
no one saying free tickets though really its more a frustration at the club again not realising a promotion thing here and the fact at this stage no one cares for the 1st round of the carling cup and need to get on the band wagon like others have and get the numbers in!

Its not only for the fan it cant be nice for the players to come out to a ground not fully open especially with the dugouts in that stupid place (so non league) and with only a 1000+ to cheer them on if there is any cheering! how can we expect them to give 100% if they think the fan and club cant be bothered!

so if its a tenner you can prob get another 1500 there, with free tickets may be 2000+ and hey so what if free those kids an adults will be spending money and if a decent crowd there will be a good vibe that the club want new fans to see!

didnt the club say making profit now on programmes so theres more profit already off the gates!

Cheltenham

Worse thing is im paying full price adult ticket and I cant even sit in my New Road seat behind the dugouts :(

I emailed Andrew Mills earlier and he replied very promptly. He said there were discussions ongoing and the club hoped to be able to make an announcement soon.

Well done to the club.

:sorted: well done Mr Mills and the club, just a shame it took half a dozen gpg strops before the club reviewed it.

Well done to Nick for starting the thread, it probably would've just blown over with the usual grumbling without it.

The fixture clashes with my book club so i will not be able to attend anyway:fishing:

Cheltenham

Was thinking the same, surely BIAS get involved here, or at least they normally do:confused:

BIAS do have regular catch ups with Andrew Mills. The latest of these was scheduled for lunch time today (Due to player negotiations, tribunals and board meetings there have been few opportunities for us to get together).

Our discussion today was quickly opened and adjourned :) to allow the work in hand to continue.

Cheltenham

Fair play to the Club, very impressed and will definitely be there...not sure I'd have gone otherwise, so they're £12.50 better off already :)

Cheltenham

Well done for listening to the fans, good job chaps! :sorted:

Cheltenham

The question was raised at fans forum too. Well done to the club and I hope a few people have a rethink to try and support the initiative - more likely to see similar stuff in the future if it's deemed to have improved crowd

Cheltenham

To little to late im afraid - these should have been the prices from the off and well advertised locally to make the most of it. Glad they saw sense though, will probably go now. Well done Nick :sorted:
