Well if you're reading this Baffled your son has managed to **** off just about everybody and he makes Noades look like a master of communication.

I happened to post on an existing thread this morning that I was "very disappointed" that this weeks Chronicle carried a feature that BFC was saved from administration last Saturday by the injection of £200k from two BFC directors. That statement was not true and it is not as if it was written in haste. It was picked up and repeated by Tim Street in his column so it was stated twice in the same edition and they had from 3pm Saturday until (what is the deadline) noon Wednesday??? to get it right but didn't. Let's face it if Tony Flood had written that garbage we'd have been all over him like stink on sh*t with the Chronny boys cheering us on from the sidelines but because your son makes a stupid error and didn't check his facts.......(Jesus he and Tim Street must have been two of the very few Bees fans who didn't know who provided the monies) there was a thread from another GPG poster who believed what he read in the Chronny and titled "Bees Directors Pump in £200k and Save Club From Administration" (or something similar.....I can't be bothered to look it up for the purposes of this post.

Tim Street held his hands up to the mistake and fair dues to him. That's all we ask plus a correction. Your son went ballistic and I received a lengthy email calling my friends names and telling me that I was "no better than Brickie Chap" (at least I am no worse.... rofl ) for daring to write that I was "very disappointed".

I sincerely suggest that you check out the facts when you return and then form a judgement.

Not an issue Les. We are not going to suddenly go 'off-side' so to speak after getting some stick, some admittedly deserved.
We will continue to print stories we hope helps the future of BFC, and do our damnest to get them right.
I have already said the mistake will be rectified and apologised for next week.
I'm truly sorry it has come to this as just a fortnight ago we were holding our heads high after sitting on what could have been great stories based on information which may have been damaging to Bees United's efforts.

As for Levack junior...well...I think you know what he needs to do...he probably knows whats needed...sadly...no one I've spoken to thinks he has the backbone to admit he has made a mistake. Its quite sad really.

This thread`s getting a bit silly IMHO as a few weeks back the Chron was sycophantically - as per usual - and without Paxman-style questioning shall we say, supporting MA "100%" (without even a murmur) the selection of MA`s team @Cheltenham. That game (and potential revenue) was effectively forfeited IMHO. In case nobody noticed this club is skint...

That game was effectively a money-making opportunity for BFC. The Chron reported "it could have been Hartlepool away" in Rd 2 (so in other words "what the hell") but the competition is SEEDED at that stage and whose to say we wouldnt have got a £100k money-spinner aka Newcastle 3 years ago. Absolute garbage.

Never mind, MA is God and never mind what the view was of the hierarchy at GP. (Whoops.............you never asked them did you? )

This week`s stuff is dross. The facts were published (BB article) in the official matchday programme FFS!

Perhaps next week we`ll see a series of hard-hitting questions aimed at the BFC Board (and MA at long last FFS!) as to why we`re in this sorry mess. And maybe the BtB campaign could for once gain more column inches than poxy player quotes, match quotes bollox.

I dont like to slag the Chronicle but sometimes the coverage is lamentable to say the least

My understanding was that MA always intended to treat Cheltenham as a "reserve fixture" as he did not wish to risk any further injuries or suspensions to a wafer thin squad. He was told by the BFC chairman and others that revenue was of the utmost importance and that progress in this competition could mean a money spinning tie down the line. The team and attitude on the day seemed to reflect a shall we say casual approach to the match.

I posted last season and again this that the BFC board were failing in their duty when they let MA run loose with the playing budget. Of course he is gonna spend every penny allocated to him up front but my view has always been that any football club board has a responsibility first to the finances and secondly to the manager. MA would not share that wisdom I am sure. If the seasons playing budget is set at a preliminary £1million then a maximum of 90% only should be released in the first tranche with the balance being held back for release if necessary in the January window or for retention if the forecast income does not hit the targets. I could not believe that they were doing it any other way. but they were. The playing budget this year was spent in full and more on just twenty players to start the season of which two were goalkeepers, one (Rhodes) was a long term injury (in fact he is back to play cameos far earlier than was believed) and another (Newman) hasn't put on a Bees shirt in anger.

MA went for it probably in the expectation that he could cajole the board into coughing up further funds if necessary and they have bent over backwards to accommodate him with the financial consequences that we saw last week-end. The reality is that the playing budget should have been some £200-300k less than the figure fixed and whoever has control of the club after January will have to face facts and establish a budget for next season some 20% less than this. This and the allocation of the playing budget is not a new position after the event for me.......I posted the same thing last year and was roundly taken to task.........

Pete, a few points
The back page after the Cheltenham game was exactly what you demand, 'hard-hitting' questions to Allen about his team selection, disappointment of fans who travelled and the missed potential of a money-spinner. Not quite sycophantic. I admit my column was less 'hard-hitting', but the column's are just opinion and open to criticism or otherwise.
I was also the only journalist in the press room after the Bristol City game to question Allen about the long-ball tactics and lack of guile while everyone else stared at their notepads, earning myself the usual hostile glare which accompanies unwanted questions, so please don't suggest I don't have the balls to ask Allen difficult quesions.
Back the Bees has always been given much coverage since it started, far more than has been sent to us anyway. Player quotes and after-match reaction has it's place as well as the vast majority of fans, in my experience, are interested in what the people they are paying to watch, and manager, have to say.
I admit it's not perfect, but I work a lot f**king harder and put in longer hours than I should for what I get paid, battling against meagre resources. Not asking for violins, but don't want to be accused of laziness in my job either.

I buy the Chroncile every week. Often out of habit, but I am also often pleasantly surprised, as someone who devours Bees news, when they bring a new angle to a story and they therefore should be given credit for at least trying to find something fresh in, what is after all, an age where we suffer from information overload.

I welcome The Chronicle's efforts in providing the best coverage of any local newspaper. In comparison to the Richmond Times and The Ealing Gazette, they are streets (!) ahead. They even chose to make themselves known on here and they should be commended for that. Mistakes happen, but there but for the grace of God and all that. Anyone who relies on a newspaper as the bastion of truth is a fool and should see them as just another piece in the jigsaw, as is this place.

Tell you what a few things things stike me about this thread

a.) The chaps at the Chronicle obviously did make a boob and as long as this is addressed in the public domain (I.e next edition) well then that's that, as someone said 'To err is human', not much sign of the 'Forgiving is divine' bit. Lesson learned just double check before going to print next time.

b.) The personal vitriol and past greivances thing on this web site is getting very tiresome, like many I come on here to read true bees fans opnions and comments and what I'm increasingly finding is I have to trawl through endless posts of people settling scores, scoring cheap points off each other and belittling anyone else with an opinion divergent from their own..any chance of everyone taking a big breath letting bygones be bygones etc, etc. Strikes me we have enough problems without turning on each other.

An apology reagrding the £200k injection is included this week Iin a couple of places). It clarifies where the money came from and goes as far as explaining why it is important to distinguish the difference.

I think that this is a very noble gesture and should be commended.

You could take out a subscription by calling 020 0943 5171 (I think, may have changed, will correct if wrong), or picking a copy up in Brentford on a match-day and filling out a subscription form.

Just wondered if you've tried getting the Standard to take any of your articles? We could do with a lot more coverage from them, and whilst they seemed quite happy to put loads of QPha stuff in recently they've been worse than useless at covering our problems. They might be happy to print something with a few 'juicy' bits in though that someone else has already prepared....

All I can say is judging by some people on Saturday outside the turnstiles is that Brentford's predicament was well worth giving serious coverage too. A few Bees commented to me that they knew nothing of the cash crisis we have until the big splash in the paper over the last couple of weeks.
