And you need to realise that Masters is only 18. Is a rookie keeper, he will improve with more experience. Not to mention he is playing in a team void of confidence and having a really bad run of results.

If only you knew how badly he wants to be fit by 7.45 on Friday (and for that matter for the last five games as well!!!!!) - however, at the moment its in the lap of the Gods. Only time will tell! Everybody keep their fingers crossed.

As i said earlia, Masters is good, but jus not as experienced, keep him for sub/odd game, but keep Nelly on, overally better.....He saved the day at Oreint,,,,Best player on the pitch..........When it comes down to it i will suppoort hueva is out there in a BFC shirt. Dnt wanna argu with any other supporters bout it. Wat is the point!! xx

Pulled of one amazing save today from point blank range, but i do think the defence would benefit from having Nelson back as he is constantly commanding them

Masters made an incredible point-blank save just before their second goal, I think. But the second goal was partly his fault at his near post.

He was helpless for the third. Somebody should have picked up their midfielder and closed him down at the edge of the area; he had all the time in the world to pick his spot.

I think Nelson has the maturity, stature in the club and experience to boss his area and the defence, and in our position he is likely to be more effective than Masters.

But having said that I've really only seen Nelson play behind some confident and able defenders. I'm not sure the result would have been any different today with him in goal.

I think you have these two goals mixed up - as he had no chance with the second, which was curled into the top corner from twenty yards, but the third one was hit straight at him and he managed to let it slip through.

I was right behind the goal Ed and it wasnt in the top corner by anymeans
i think he should have done better with the goal as he had plenty of time to see it and got a hand to it but it was a very weak hand.
The real blame for the goal though should be layed at the door of the defender who let the guy get the shot away in the first place.

I'd say he has some blame for the 3rd and, if you're harsh, perhaps for the 2nd also, but he made a couple of good saves and was behind a shambles of a defence

I'd have Nelson back, but hope the last month hasn't ruined the confidence of a promising young keeper

Masters will be a top top keeper. He will mistakes and learn from them.

How many mistakes has the senior pro Nelson made?

It can`t help playing in such a woeful team and I hope this run in the team teaches him some important lessons.

Masters isn't ready and won't be for a while. It isn't his fault as hes been thrown in at the deep end in a poor side with no confidence but apart from being a decent/good shot stopper hes still a youth keeper, reserve at the very best.
The second and third goals should have been saved, those shouting for Nelsons head a month or two ago and suggesting Masters was ready and better than Nelson are sadly wrong.

We need Nelson back. If he's not fit I'd get a keeper in on loan for a month - I feel Leroy should have done that rather than a lanky striker. I think Masters has potential, but ideally he wouldn't have been in the last few games with us sliding down the league.

after watching the goals again on Beesworld.......... Masters wasn't at fault for any of them. Defensive errors for the first goal, unable to clear the ball out of the box, the second was a good strike but not one Brentford player within 10 yards of the scorer when he received the ball.Why? the third one was O'Connor's fault for giving the ball away too easily and the defense was stretched and a good finish, the forth was Frampton's fault for being unable to clear the ball. So 2 goals down to our most experienced players, 2 down to defensive errors. Not one was Masters fault. Keep going young Masters, as you're our future. Nelson can go and cry himself to sleep with his dummy.

I can't stand Nelson but clarke was at fault in part for all the goals on saturday. :nono: :nono:

more experienced players were at fault.

Masters is a better 'keeper' than Nelson. IMHO.

Disagree I'm afraid, 1st and 4 th goals he had no chance but..

2nd - The lad has had all day to line up his shot, it was only going one place, Masters reacts late IMHO. The shot is not right in the corner, and is a goodish height for a keeper although close to the post. He actually got to it, but let the ball through his hands too easily

3rd Beaten near post - not good.

Well I think confidence was low Pre Masters. Out of the two I prefer Nelson. Thats only my opinion. Your entitled to differ, that's what this board is about.

exactly.............. no player shut him down. masters was 3 yards off his line giving the player a smaller target, but e got it wide of masters..... not his fault.

the 3rd was from o'connors mistake in crewe's half.............

have you seen orient's goal? that was Nels letting one in from a narrower angle than masters........... Masters better keeper.

According to the News of the Screws today, Fulham want to take Masters on trial but have to wait until Nelson returns.

Assume this means that he would, if he hasn't already, train with them as Paul Smith did with a few clubs.

I hope we can hang onto him for a couple of years as he could develop into quite a valuable asset.

Scott Flinders went from Barnsley to Palace for about £500K plus add ons so the prec3dent has been set given that he had as little experience, or even less than Clark.

Like youself I am not a Pro-Scout but have played at the top and know what to look for. Clark for me has bags of potential and eveyone at Brentford knows that. Clark has trained with Spurs, and a trial wih Fulham certainly would do him no harm, and it certianly would give him some valued experience,. However, I personally don't think he is good enough yet to make a move up in football. For me Clark really hasn't made the number 1 jersey his in Nels absence. The only reason he has it as there is no one else.

I know the world of football doesn't move in this way, as big clubs will want to snap up a young player that shows potential and that could be a hit in the future. a wrong choice in moving could in a few years see him being rejected and pushed back to where he started. In my own experience I wish I had stayed with Notts County, and not moved to Sheff Utd, as things didn' t really work to for me and then got injured (another story really)

I hope Clark stays at Brentford however there is so many factors involved in this process. If anything came of this that is.

we had this conversation just when Leroy dropped Nelson for the Dodgy cup game at Northampton. Arsenal had arranged to watch him and Tottenham had had him training with them for two days just prior.
Jim Stannard is obviously talking Masters up but what a team we would had if all of these had stayed with us instead of leaving.........................

Ingimarrson, Sidwell, Sonko, Hunt, Sodje, Hreidarsson, Bent, Mahon (all prem)
Turner, Campbell, Forster, Tabb, Vine, Rowlands (all championship).

Have I missed any current players?

My name is Scott Carlton not Nelson as some have suggested. I used to be with Notts County and Sheffield Utd. Started off as a centre half but then at fifteen reverted to goalkeeper. My coach for many years was Russell Slade now at Yeovil. Then injury struck and was out for 1 1/2 years. Still tho i am only 20 but to have had to train with Michael Tonge, Monty and co was awesome experiences and memories.

Glad to see Sladey is going guns as a manager.

Hope that throws some light on who I am

My house mate is a avid Brentford supporter so mainly picked it up from him I guess. I follow several teams as i have just have a general interest in footie. However I support Nottingham Forest.

I defo had the bragging rights over my house mate when Forest beat Brentford a few weeks back.

Side note I Like Brentford as a club, very much a community feel to it of which I like.

Masters might become a decent keeper byt he isn't one just yet. I have reservations about Nels but I prefer him in goal at trhe moment.

Or i suspect it will be £50k now......£50k in 20 games........£50k in another 20 games..........£50k if Masters keeps a clean sheet for 20 consecutive games and £1.00 for an England cap.........not a friendly match either ! :D
