Having just read moribee’s post, Clive should rightly have his own thread too.

I’ve known Clive for a number of years.

I’m shocked at losing yet another old bees supporter.

RIP Clive and condolences to his family and friends.

Extremely saddened to hear this news, a very very dear friend, team mate on the football pitch and travelled to many games with him. As his son said this morning he is grateful to have such a wonderful Dad. One of the nicest guys you could meet.

I understand Clive had a stroke at the Villa game and has been in a coma ever since, so at least passed peacefully.
Much love to Sue and his two kids Pete and Gemma to whom he passed on his love for the Bees.
Clive has supported BFC since 1963 and was well known and loved by those around the local Sunday football scene of the 70’s and 80’s being a Co-founder of Brentford Athletic who many on here played for.
A lovely man who took early retirement and moved down to North Devon and was a stalwart of the WCB gang over the last 10 years or so.
Mate, me and my girls will miss catching up with you in The Globe or Black Dog before games.
Can’t believe I’m writing this. Gutted.

Fans like Clive have seen QPR try to put us out of business, crap bottom tier football and Webb and Noades try and ruin us. Those fans deserved to see us having our shot at the big league in our brand new stadium.

Not unexpected as I knew he was critically ill but still desperately sad news to receive.Known Clive going back to the good old days in the late 60s when we used to use the Royal Oak.Would always bump into him during the season in any one of many pubs around Brentford and sat with him a few years back on the West Country bees bus when they picked me up on route.Lovely bloke who will be sadly missed and left us far too early.So tragic that we have lost so many life long fans in this of all seasons.

So very sorry to hear this news. I can remember being on the supporters' coach with Clive in the late sixties when I first started following the Bees away and he was a regular of course. In recent years we had renewed our friendship, enjoying friendly rivalry when programme-hunting for Brentford items on eBay....he and I still needing several of the more obscure items post-war.

I was only chatting to him in the Black Dog prior to the Villa game. And when I saw him afterwards in the Dugout things definitely didn't seem right so perhaps wasn't surprised when I heard he was in hospital.

As has already been said, he did at least get to see us play in the top division, although I know he was missing Griffin Park.

Our condolences to Pete and Gemma.

In total utter shock.....I had known Clive for years and played in the same team as him for many years as he was our goalkeeper and it was him, myself and one other that founded Brentford Athletic FC . Had some great times together including football tours to Amsterdam and other hotspots of Europe with so many tales to tell.

We spent many an awayday together with Tony Ross enjoying the local brews of various hostelries and used to meet in the Griffin on Sunday nights to chew over the weekend football including the Sunday League scene. Lost touch when he moved to Devon but had seen one another on the odd occasion and always had a good chinwag.

Spent many evenings at his house when he lived in Braemar Road having our football club committee meetings along with his home brew....??
Also had a wonderful collection of miniature whiskies from around the world.

Condolences to Sue and his children Peter and Gemma who meant the world to him.

A true gentleman who was passionate about the Bees and always had time for others and was a good friend to me.

R.I.P. Clivey boy and I will raise a glass to you my friend.

If you bump into Tony Ross and Ron Jacobs at the Bees Supporters Club in the sky just remind Rossy that it's his round....goodbye my friend....

I didn't know Clive but remember him at GP in the 60s, particularly around the 67 period. We went to the same junior school and he wasn't much older than me so would have been in his late 60s, which is too soon. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends, we have lost a lot of true Bees recently.

Horrible news. I knew Clive outside of Brentford and would always stop to have a chat in and around GP. One of the nicest guys you could hope to meet.

Way too young. I know Pete as well and they must be devastated.

Whilst only meeting Clive on a few occasions, he was wonderful company and I was gutted to hear of his passing.
I first met him on a train a number of years ago, when he recognised me and sat with me the entire journey with his son, Pete.
Such a lovely man and may he rest in peace.
My condolences to his family.
I hope he'll be cheering us on from above.

Oh no dreadful news. Played against Clive and Brentford Athletic numerous times. Also when I worked in Unigate Treasury for 7 years he worked at the branch of Barclays where some of our accounts were held so got to know him really well then. Very nice bloke. RIP Clive mate.

Stunned by this news. I first met Clive in 1970 when I gave him a lift home from Northampton on Easter Monday. Many years of following the Bees up and down the country, separated by long sessions in The Angel and Crown in Richmond and later, The Griffin. He was the Best Man at my wedding, and I was the Best Man at Clive's wedding to Sue. I helped Clive move down Devon, when he decided to quit the Smoke. For Forty Years we were best friends and mates. I only lost touch with Clive in the last years as I moved to live in Portugal. We kept in touch when I travelled back to see the Bees, but that became fewer in recent years. My wife Dorothy and son Celyn are as upset as I am, as the families were close.

RIP Clive, you were my best mate.

Terrible news. Got to know Clive really well in the 70's especially at away games on the Tony Ewers specials. Later on when I moved to Twickenham would always see him working in the local branch of Barclays. Always said hello and would have a chat at games. Not long before he moved down to the west country would often meet up with him at Twickenham CC where his son and mine played together in the colts team. R.I.P Clive such a sad loss to all his mates and of course BFC.
