Colchester ref?

How come the colchester board reckon the ref was a ****er and yet you lot don't mention it?

He upset the Col U fans with a couple of decisions involving Dobbo. Firstly they thought he held back one of their forwards in the penalty area, which he did'nt, but as a result the Col U player got booked as I recall for protesting.

Next they did'nt like it when Dobbo went down with a head injury and felt he was timewasting when Col U were on the attack. Dobbo does'nt do that and anyway he looked really distressed so I think it was genuine, he indicate an elbow.

Overall the ref looked OK to me, I think their protestations were somewhat OTT.

I thought the ref was pretty poor, he let the ColU defence get away with a lot of pushing and climbing, and he missed the foul on Dobson. But he was better than most of the refs we've seen in Div 2 this season. Apart from the possible penalty (against ColU in the first half for handball) I don't think the officials affected the result.

On the other hand, I thought the ref against Wigan was one of the best we've had, but a lot of fans round me were giving him abuse. With the abuse they get and the low pay, why would anyone want to become a ref? So ultimately we get the quality of referee that we deserve.

Not to contradict, but I reckon that the last four Bees games have seen the 'best' refs this season. I felt that the assistant (on their right) in the first half was poor and the biggest problem this season has been the lack of coordination between the ref and his assistants.

Well it was really the fact that the referee stopped the game whilst they were attacking and restarted it with a drop-ball. We happily returned the ball (they would have been really annoyed otherwise), but they felt we deprived them of a goal-scoring chance so late on.

I think referees and their assistants should work in teams of 3 and take it in turns to be ref over a period of a dozen or so games, thereby improving their knowledge of each other and therefore listen to each other more. Anyone else like this idea?

I think its a very good idea.......unless you got a trio of say, Lynch, Biggar and Fletcher together then gawd help football!

It was Fletchers better performance of the season (he was simply a disgrace against Morecombe) but IMHO he is totally clueless. Why he booked Alan White of Colchester was beyond me....
