Advice noted, thanks... although my travelling buddy (and driver) has to be in Manchester for a business meeting at 10am. I'm playing tourist for the day. If I venture into a few local hostelries to pass the time I might have enough beers to make sure I don't feel the cold come kick off.

I doubt it Joker. Boundary Park makes Ice Station Zebra seem like the centre of the Sun. It is the coldest place known to man. And that's in August, never mind a cold spell in March!

And you've been to Ice Station Zebra and the centre of the sun I suppose Ed  :D And what the hell were you doing in Oldham in August anyway? We never play them in August :nono:

I'm not going either but that's due to lack of cash and my Tuesday night French lessons rather than any pathetic fear of the cold (honest) :D

Well, la-de-dah!

Looks like this thread's title was never more apt... text from a friend in the Bolton area tells me it snowed up there today!

Me and Mr Trand and maybe Bee H setting out from Hillingdon 3/3:30 got 3/4 empty seats (if two don't mind squishing in the little seats in the back) if anyone wants to join us.

cOldham away

Anyone on the 3.05pm from Euston this afternoon ?

Probably did right on the tops. Rest of Oldham was just p*ssin it down :D

Ice Station Zebra is true, Joe Royle called it that years back and it's stuck. Just be thankful you only have to make the trip once a year. Then again, you get used to it

cOldham away

You had better make the third round of the cup next year for us to have to go there again next year

I don't want to get used to it

Why? Are you going up this season

No doubt the game would probably be switched to a Tuesday night

As for the best away pub - Bluebell near the ground got knocked down a year ago. About a 5 minute walk up sheepfoot lane by the away end, to the left you'll find a few friendly pubs across the road.

Rocky, whats the one I like, I went in there last year (when I could bloody afford pesky away games  ) It has a big pole in the middle near an estate and we learnt the landladies special was baileys and brandy?

And there is another one we often going in, the landlord is an Oldham fan, and he reckoned that you took 2,500 "Everywhere" this was patently not true and we told him so

Anyway for those that haven't left yet, both those pubs were OK :sorted:

cOldham away

We went in the Old Grey Mare which was OK.

Nothing like as cold as I was expecting, I only wore my coat so as not to have to carry it whilst walking about.

There's two pubs which have a landlord who supports Oldham in. White Hart and The Queens, both near the ground. He probably meant years ago

As for the first pub, not really sure. Could be a few.

As for the weather last night. It wasnt really cold, just a bit windy. warmer than most Saturday afternoons in August :)
