lol what the **** is this happy sh*t! Been forced to watch Normal telly as broadband too weak and there appears to be an opening ceremony involving old women, middle aged fatties and some young children recording it all in their iPhone!! I’m sure I could have had a run at representing Cyprus in something or other as it seems they let anyone in.

What is this shambles all about !!

I'll generally watch pretty much any sporting event.....Obviously the usual: football, cricket, rugby, tennis, golf etc. and I'm happy to watch plenty of Summer Olympics..........and a fair bit of Winter Olympics........but for some reason I can't be bothered with the Commonwealth Games......

Although, a classic moment on BBC Sports news just now where a weightlifter admitted to "watching the snatch" of one of his female team-mates!!!!

Very similar, if you study Blake's thoughts at the time.

Completely and utterly off topic but he hated the Established Church as he thought it worked against ordinary people, which is the reference to "dark satanic mills", that he referred to churches as, and he really disliked the jingoistic nationalism that was being stirred up by the Napoleonic Wars. The opening verses are asking questions at a time when the CofE was mashing the story that Christ had visited England. So, you could replace the Church with the Tory Party and the anti-French sentiment with Brexit and you'd update it. It is actually very amusing.

I see some of the Cameroon athletes have "disappeared"in Australia. Surely Cameroons have never been part of the British Commonwealth? I thought it used to be a French territory.

(I know we have admitted former Portuguese territories in the past. )

I have a netball playing daughter and this has encouraged me to watch more of the sport. Just watched the replay of the final where England beat the Aussies on home soil in the last seconds. Great sporting moment.

I’ll level with you.
I just kept watching it because some of the players were quite fit.
I will save the “my daughter plays it”excuse for the beach volleyball.

Highlights for me have been the complete lack of sportsmanship....

Scottish runner two minutes clear with a few km to go collapses on the road no assistance provided. The Aussie in second catches up and despite being well clear of third just runs straight by the Scottish bloke spread out on the road in front.

Then in the mountain biking kiwi leader gets a puncture second placed kiwi catches up and rides on by offering no assistance. Then kiwi with busted bike gives him the finger, fixes bike chases him down to win the race and rips into his teammate who eventually came second!!!

You think the fellow competitors should stop and help when there is medical nearby who are ignoring him? That I find more concerning.

Exactly, you can't blame the runners.

However, the lack of medical help to the Scottish runner was outrageous.

Watching a man thrashing around in the dirt on the floor with no offer of assistance, clearly in a state of delirium, is a real stain on Australia.

Closing ceremony where they handed over to Birmingham, nothing short of embarrassing. Although could have been worse and showed 3 mins from St Andrews. ???

An excellent games both in quality and quantity. Great venues, great location and great weather, decent crowds at most events too. Was a great move to include the para athletes in the games and I hope the Olympics follows suit.

Good to see separate teams from Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland etc. Hsd this been done before?

All in all a great job by the Gold coast and Australia, and a tough act to follow for Birmingham.

It's always been the case - England Scotland and Wales have entered all 20 times the Games have been held, while NI missed the first Games in 1930 (they were then part of an all-Ireland team) and also 1950 in NZ, but have been to all the others:
