Nice to people pleased for Tahiti getting their goal, rather than moaning about them being a team of part timers who don't deserve to be there. The other games have been fairly entertaining so far as well, some decent quality on show.

It was a lovely goal. Deep corner, good run, good leap and a well placed header.

Best bit of this pointless tournament, so far.

They had a decent go of it. Didn't stick all and sundry behind the ball and hump it aimlessly.

They tried to play football and it was refreshing for a tiny nation to make a go of it rather than do what San Marino, et al do in the European Qualifiers. Maybe those teams could take a leaf out of their books...

Unfortunately Spain will destroy them as will Uruguay as they will punish the individual mistakes...

All seems to be a unwelcome exercise which will wear out the European players just before they are due back for pre season training...if England had been out there managers and the media would be going nuts over it...a lot of somewhat overhype about the Brazilians as well, they have some good players but they are not a shadow of past teams. One win against a less than impressive Japan and suddenly they are going to beat the world.

This seems to have more media coverage, mainly from the BBC, than any of the previous tournaments.

Last time it was tucked away on BBC3 and ignored. Now we get live matches on BBC1, Highlights and a prominence on the BBC website.

Another meaningless tournament.

We used to get Summer football every two years with World Cups and European Championships, now there is no summer break.

Pre-Season Friendlies will be starting soon as will the Champions League Qualifiers.

It's a decent tournament. Much more meaningful than the friendlies the FA host for England that the big club's players don't show for...

Watching the Italy game at moment.. its been all Japan in my opinion, with Japan leading 1-0....

But the penalty that the goal was scored from was never a penalty, Buffon clearly got the ball first... referee looking at initial replays I don't even think he had a clear view either and probably guessed what happened on his initial view.. but nevertheless Italy have not been in it and showed by Italy coach rubbing Aquilani after 30 mins for a CM...

Savage talking rubbish...

The penalty v Mexico should have been a red as the defender was denying goal scoring opportunity...
But tonight, Buffon wasn't because the ball went away from goal after Buffon won the ball...
So let me get this right, because Buffon won the ball, and Savage agrees it SHOULDN'T have been a penalty, and took the ball away from goal he still should get a yellow?? If he had not had 'fouled' him it was a goal scoring opportunity as when he 'brought' him down he was on goal... if the referee deemed it to be a foul it should have been a red...

It's nice to see welshmen involved in an international tournament in some small way. I wish Hartson was the welsh national manager or perhaps assistant to Tony Pulis then we'd at least put a side out that would battle for the shirt. Anything's better than that **** Coleman.

Italy are UNBELIEVBALE they way they manage to always find a way to avoid defeat or win. They have been utterly outplayed in the second half by a sensational Japanese side yet have just gone 4-3 up.

I can't recollect the last time I saw a more exciting game than Italy/Japan tonight. The tournament has been excellent and a breath of fresh air regarding internationals. I'm actually looking forward to the World Cup already!

The 2009 tournament was good, particularly the USA's run. Better than the WC this is, less teams, less games!

First 45 minutes was crap, with a lot of fouls.but Brazil took the lead right on half time but a goal each at the start of the second period have made this a decent match now.

Great free kick from Netmar, even though it wasn't a foul.

As I'm half Italian I am a strong supporter of both the English and Italian national sides. I have to say that Italy are currently lacking in quality on the ball and have a workmanlike rather than talented side.Aspects of their performances [ passing, movement, leaving the striker isolated] have been dire at times but they will learn from the experience of this tournament and IMO will be a real contender to win the World Cup next year.

During the shoot out... Bet365 were offering odds of 11/8 for a Spain win when Italy went a goal up...

Got on that and took a nice little earner home....

i thought it was a dog sh*t of a game and turned off after 80 minutes, so many over hit crosses and passes, dreadful first touches, awful shooting and heading at goal. maybe extra time was better?

Good tense game of football played in hot humid conditions.Two teams flat on their feet at the end of 120 minutes.Plenty of endeavour and invention from both teams.Good solid football and ok not everything they tried came off.
I enjoyed it and I bet it was a great game to play in.

Each to their own I guess.

I dont think Spain and Brazil were all that . If we put out the strongest attacking England team I think we'd give it a decent go. We've some really exiting young players that have decided theyre too old for the U21's , this is our future ,I hope Woy is the man to use them

Spain v Brazil.

Tippy tappy v jumpy divey. Brazil aren't bad, but Meymar's only got two tricks - beat the man if he can, or jump in the air and fall over. At least Iniesta's got more strings to his bow than that.

Have you seen my 10 to 100 thread.. All done before game or in play.. Win and lose there.. But could hardly put down what I did at the time as it was a shoot out and was not online during it but I get your drift...

I think Spain will win tonight

If you aren't going to watch it in full make sure you watch the Brazil national anthem - it is hairs on the back of the neck time. The last twenty seconds there is no music just the crowd and team bellowing it out. Awesome.
