Congratulations BU & Dyke

In just over a year you have successfully managed to;

1) Sell our best player for substantially less than he was worth to us in our promotion campaign,

2) Thwarted our almost certain promotion to the championship,

3) Alienated more than 1/3 rd of our entire support base,

4) Lost us one of our better managers over the last few years,

5) Let our better players leave for peanuts,

6) Run a campaign of 'SPIN', claiming BU & DYKE a success story

7) Last, but not least, managed to take a team plying for promotion to the championship and turn them into a team of losing, no hopers heading straight to the conference.

BRILLIANT FANTASTIC AMAZING

Do you run any BU workshops at all, I'd like to emulate the success story!!!!

DYKE & BU OUT NOW.......:banghead:

At last someone on this site who talks some sense , the above is exactly what has happened and if they were running a business would have lost their jobs by now!

I haven't exactly been jumping through hoops over teh performance of the major shareholder of BFC, however, you are wrong on several counts.

1) The sale of DJ Campbell did not cost Brentford promotion. The leaking of last minute goals during March and April cost BFC promotion.

2) The leaking of last minute goals through March and April cost BFC promotion. That and the tactil nievety of Martin Allen.

3) Probably not far wrong.

4) The loss of Martin Allen was not down to BU or the board. Ma wanted a bigger budget, the baord said no, Martin Allen threw his toys out the pram and left. Now we are in the situation, if the rumour mill is correct, the budget that is in place now, is there or there abouts what Allen wanted.

5) We are skint, we need the money. In case you hadn't heard, we are £9m in debt.

6) Agreed

7) Not down to BU or Dyke. It is player attitude.

He was the inform player at the time though! He started banging in the goals! So things may have been different if we kept him!:thetruth:

1) If we had not sold DJ, it could be argued that although we started leaking goals, which you claim is THE reason we didn't get promoted, with DJ here, we could have scored more than we conceeded, thereby gaining the points and promotion.

2) Martin Allen was tactically naive, maybe. But he had a team on top of the league for most of the season and it WAS BFC Board who sold DJ under MA's nose, completely undermining the guy, forcing him to look for a replacement striker with little more than luncheon vouchers to offer. If this isn't down to the board, WHO decided to sell DJ then?

3) -

4) Again, BFC BOARD refused to finance MA when he wanted to strengthen the squad to push for promotion, so yes, he had a wobbly and left. Maybe the guy has FAR TOO MUCH AMBITION for this current board.

5) We are 9 Million in debt, which is about double what it was stated at the point BU took over. I suppose the increased debt must also be the responsibility of Mr Noades then, even though he left 5 years ago. all the current strife is down to him, according to BU! Sounds to me like someone somewhere is looking for a scapegoat to cover up their own inadequacies.

7) Player attitude....who's job is it then to ensure the team and staff are up to the challenge if it isn't the board?

Congratulations BU & Dyke

It doesn't help when you have the guts of your team move on every season and lose players of the ability of Tabb, Sodje, Hunt,Turner etc. why did they move, well most, but not all, for money a commodity BFC don't have.

Go back over previous seasons and see the other players who have left and you'll realise why we will never get anywhere with the short term policy we've adopted. We've no real quality in the squad and are unlikely to have any either as we can't afford to pay the going rate for their services...simple as that!.

On the GD issue, as I've said time and again, he said he would not put money in and has been true to his word.

It doesn't matter whose in charge, the future of BFC is very grim. Kids and freebies= no money (attendances down), no quality players (as even less money available) and at the moment no future...other than the Conference.

You may be right but how would we have coped with the 10 point deduction for going in to administration?

Let alone the fact that if we hadn't sold DJ he would have been demotivated as the club would have gone back on it's promise of letting players know about offers from clubs in a higher division.

This argument has been done to death on this site before.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

BU are a joke! They make up less than 1/3 of fans yet have the biggest mouths and blistered fingertips. Did they get the spin training from new labour by any chance?

As i said before, congratulations on a job well done!

Congratulations BU & Dyke

BU are a joke! They make up less than 1/3 of fans yet have the biggest mouths and blistered fingertips.

That would be the 1/3 of fans who put their hands in their pockets and saved your Football Club from going out of business then...as repeated so often on the GPG, the thing about Bees Utd is that it isn't an exclusive club for sadistic Football Club killers, it's open to all - join, vote and change things if they're so wrong.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

What's all the fuss. Before every board meeting Dyke and the Directors (that well known tribute band) sing 'things can only get better'. I'm sure they will, only not for Brentford football club as their voices are on a par with their competence to run a professional football club.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

Whilst I agree that they must shoulder the blame, I think for a different reason.

It was the Board who ratified the Rosenoir appointment which has cost us players, money and relegation.

Everyone with any football knowledge knew that Rosenoir is a nice bloke but with a dreadful track record in management (one good season in about 6).

With any other manager instead of Rosenoir we would now be in mid-table.

Indeed, any other board will sack a manager after say 6 - 8 games without a win. We waited for 22 matches before sacking him!!

Congratulations BU & Dyke

On the GD issue, as I've said time and again, he said he would not put money in and has been true to his word.

Leaving the money issue aside what has he done apart from being the "hard guy" on behalf of BU to stand up to MA at the end of the season. We believed we were going to have a high profile chairman......please can someone tell me the last statement he issued on behalf of the football club?
I believe he may be working with Red Ken on the new stadium deal, but I expected more publicity from him. One of MA's big pluses was the media attention he provoked and that only did us good (got more sky matches because of it). We have not only gone backwards in team performances but also lost all the profile we had for 2 seasons. We are back to Brentford Who?

A sad 9 months

It was Martin Allen who decided to sell DJ.

The reinvention of history with the benefit of hindsight is an easy game really. The problem with your view on the last twelve months is your inability to distinguish between what has happened and what would have happened under an alternative scenario of BU not taking over. It is preposterous to suppose that none of the bad things that have happened would have happened if BU hadn't taken over and lots of good things that have not happened would have done.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

This statement just shows that you haven't got a ****ing clue.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

I would imagine that the BU hierachy are as pissed off as us. Do they really have much say about anything?

Dyke wanted Leroy and Dickens wanted Fitz. I supported both and thought Fitz had found the key but the people that chose them are the people who have relegated us with a mere whimper.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

It was Martin Allen who decided to sell DJ.

Then as Greg Dyke has told us that if DJ had not been sold the club would "quite simply have gone under" we clearly owe Martin Allen a debt for saving the club.

Martin Allen agreed to put his name to the sale as Bees United were afraid that there would be a serious problem if the first act of the newly constituted BFC board was to sell a player who Dyke had announced on television only a few days earlier (after the Sunderland match) would not be sold.

You have been reading to many Noades fairy stories.
The overdraft was £4.5m when BU took over but the debt was actually nearer £8m to £9m when you add on the personal loans of directors, Altonwood and the GPS Ltd. :fishing:

So we are agreed, BU/Board sold DJ:confused: ?
All I will say about Martin Allen is what ChinaBee said about giving the club a higher profile and a couple of nearly moments that we, just might, give our right arms for in the near (and distant) future!
To take us so close in successive years was a great achievement and I am only disappointed that he didn't finish the job.:(
He didn't so move on. We are in the proverbial now and we have far more serious things to consider!
I want this fan run thing to succeed but............:fishing:

I'd like to see you speak to me like that to my face !

I do love this infighting and internal politics bollox!!!:sorted:

Guys, Guys our club is shafted lets face the facts, some well meaning people
are having a go at putting it right, some may say pretty badly well as others
will defend what Bee's United and some members of the board are trying to do.

We end up going round in circles with insults with plenty of " i know
more than you so shut up syndrome thrown in for good measure!"

So guys chill out, have a drink go to bed and sleep untill the end of May
when we will all wake up and realise it was just a bad dream..:sneakoff:

I get the impression that some of those that sit on the BFC board are also frustrated by the way things have gone. Has anyone heard a decent word about our MD from anyone?
How long before the GPG gets blamed for our relegation as opposing managers read how sh*t we are on here on a Friday then beat us on a Saturday?

Congratulations BU & Dyke

It was Martin Allen who decided to sell DJ.

I'm not sure 100% which way it was but Allen was on Sky Sports News earlier in the season moaning about Brentford selling DJ and this having a huge effect on us missing promotion.

Maybe we had to sell him, maybe not. I personally think it was a mistake and maybe a gamble would of paid off. The money gained for promotion would of been much larger then the DJ fee. Very big mistake IMO.

I think bad mistakes have been made at the borad level, but then again I don't see many other ways out. Leroy, Fitz or someone else would of struggled either way this season. We were doomed this time last season when we missed out on promotion, that's what killed our season.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

Selling DJ might have been a mistake, it might not. DJ's goals might have taken us up, they might not. He might have got injured in the next game and never played again. In the absence of some kind of crystal ball how anyone can claim that the sale of one of our players was the reason we didn't go up is beyond me.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

If DJ had stayed he may have got us the goals. On the other hand by being denied his dream move he may have become resentful.

I dont see how it would have been possible to deny him the chance.

Not particularly in love iwth BU or the genuine possibility of supporter owned clubs. However, all the arguments on this thread could have been levelled at any of the previous administrations.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

One thing is certain, the board would have had a collective nervous breakdown if Brentford had got promoted, they are far more comfortable hiding away in the backwaters of the first division or, even better from their point of view, the second division. Martin Allen was a big problem with his high profile and generation of publicity for the club. Now he's gone the Bees have sunk back into obscurity where the board likes the club to be. The only remaining problem is the whingeing fans, always going on about wanting the team to play good football and win promotion. Mind you relegation will help to damp down their enthusiasm and with a bit of luck ensure most of them give up and stay at home ...

True, if we had gone into the Championship this lot wouldn't have known what to do, they want to play at club directors and keep the few remaining fans in the dark as to their true intentions. 25 years supporting the club and we are the biggest underachievers in London, even Orient spent a long spell in the old second division aka - the championship. We had our chance last season and the board bottled it......

Congratulations BU & Dyke

But, if we had kept Coppell, where would we be?

All this mental masturbation about what could have happened and what might have happened and who said what and who did what does my head in!

... bet we win more games than we lose in League 2 :fishing:

Congratulations BU & Dyke

And I bet crowds sink to 4000, we lose our "experienced" players, we play youngsters and get muscled out of games in the division, get to midtable in our first year, lose our few up and coming players (Ide, Carder Andrews et al) because of finanacial position at the end of next season and are fighting relegation to the conference within the next two years.Pessimistic but realistic. And very very sad

Congratulations BU & Dyke

I find it rather ironic that at the end of last season many on here were praising Dyke for having the balls to stand up to Martin Allen's demands. They were overjoyed that Dyke basically said this is the budget, take or leave it. Probably many of those are now the ones complaining that Dyke is an idiot and should be shown the door. Sometimes I really wonder what some people want.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of Dyke. It was obvious to me that this years playing budget was going to be unsatisfactory, in view of the quality of players that we were losing. Then I am sure that Martin Allen is not a stupid person and realised that without a competitive budget, this season would see Brentford as a non competitive team. That folks is exactly how it has turned out. If you can't compete with teams on an equal playing field then you have little, or no hope of success. This season we got exactly what we deserved and the league table does not lie, or maybe it does as we are really bottom of the league. The truth is that we have probably exceeded what Martin Allen wanted in the first place, all to get relegated at the same time. That is nothing short of absolute p**s poor management.

As to Dyke's other qualities, or lack of them it is hard for me to comment. Judging by some of his deeds, then I can't say that I am over impressed. I remember him saying during the euphoria of the Sunderland result, that Brentford did not have sell any of their players to survive. Then within days he claimed that had we not sold DJ, we would have gone out of business. Either one of those two statements is utter b******s. Probably the real truth lays somewhere in between. Another of his greatest acts was to oversee the appointment of Leroy. What an absolute joke that was. The man has a losers track record and Dyke thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Eventually he saw the light and then we had the farce of the new appointment. This time he made sure that he was not in the limelight and set up a committee to make the appointment. You know what they say about committee's and that is "the committee set out to design a horse and came up with a camal." This committee was so good that it had its mind blown away by the youth team coach of Oxford United. It say a lot about the club, if thats the best we can attract. Even then we couldn't get the man. Can anyone imagine that Man U or Arsenal, will go through all that s**t, when the time comes to replace their managers. They are probably keeping tabs on likely candicates of who they would approach as and when the situation arises. So in truth he has really overseen two absolute cock-ups of management appointments within six months. I guess it dosn't matter really as he tells the world that he is having fun being the Chairman of Brentford. Well I am glad he is, because as sure as hell I am not having the geatest of times at the moment.

Maybe he has excelled in other areas, such as sorting out a possible new stadium. Well I have news for him and, that is, what is the use of such a project when we are fast heading for conference football. Griffin Park is more than adequate for non-league football. I am not against a new stadium, but if you have no intentions of being ambitous on the field, then there seems to be little, or no point in a super stadium.

This September, I will be celebrating my 50th. year as a Bees fan. The majority of those 50 years have been stressful to say the least. However, there were some bright moments when we flattered to decive and now my 50th. anniversary will be spent in the lowest tier of league football. What a f*****g prospect.

In my humble view last season represented the last realistic chance, for a goodly number of years, to achieve League 1 football and we just simply p****d it away. I didn't notice the other contenders selling their players, when they were competing for promotion. Only Brentford are that stupid. Now I truely believe that the bet I made with my son in 2003 will become fact. My bet then was that within 10 years we would be playing conference football, at the very best. It is starting to look like a good bet indeed.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

Well put Alan D, and IMO your post is spot on. To me it's almost as if some have wanted this to happen. So many of your points are right on the money(or lack of) We have spent lot more than what Allen wanted to, and thats a fact. But I never heard the words, what part of we have no do you not have any money don't you understand.
.
The management at this club has always been poor, but this season the word poor has a new meaning to me. This board do not mind pissing thousands away on the Princess Royal and the like. Yet they sh*t themselfs when we have to fork out on a player. It's the product on the pitch that concerns me, if we cannot or do not want to compete. Then we have the wrong people running BFC.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

I dont see how it would have been possible to deny him the chance.

..............Steve Bruce (of all people) didn't think he would have had a problem with Matthew Upson, had he stayed............if DJ is now so far down the pecking order at BCFC, it would probably have done him (and BFC) some good if he'd have come here on loan for the remainder of this season.............hardly a dream move, was it, and the chances of BFC getting any add-on for appearances (if such should still hold good for whenever BCFC get promotion) in the Premiership are getting more and more remote with every new forward signing for BCFC..........

......................strange also that Martin Allen (again of all people) has managed to keep hold of Izale McLeod (sp?)............unless he's on super wages way above Div 2 standard, of course...............?

People say if we didnt sell DJ we would have gone into administration, well think if no one did come in for DJ we would have gone into administration anyway.

This is exactly what i have said since the sale of DJ.

Surely had we not have sold him, gone up and then taken administration and the 10 point deduction, i beleive we would be sitting mid table in the championship.

As for saying things to peoples faces, (abee4life) why not put as much effort, dedication and "passion" into helping sort the club out and trying to save it.

I don't agree with a lot of what the board and BU have done, but if there is a way that i can try and help save the future of "our" club then i am going to try and help.

The main goal of all Brentford fans, whether on the terraces, the board or BU, is to SAVE the club.

I understand the GPG is for expressing views, opinions and voicing the dissatisfaction regarding the plight of our club, but as fans we need to unite.

Congratulations BU & Dyke

The problem is 'he didn't stick to any budget'..

Dyke and the Board have messed around and increased, gone over and increased the budget time and time again this season.. a facility that Allen was told he could not have..

Congratulations BU & Dyke

And I bet crowds sink to 4000
Can't sink upwards mate ;)

But I really do want to know what Greg Dyke is doing for Brentford FC. I can't see evidence of him doing anything, apart from the budget thing and we'd have been in a far better position than now if he'd given MA his desired budget. Having said that though, football is full of what-ifs. Two last minute goals in two matches cost us automatic promotion last season. We had to sell DJ Campbell or the club wouldn't even be here now, or it would be but with 10 less points and a financial situation even worse than now. Fact is, even if we didn't go up last season, MA would have managed this team far better than LR could ever be capable of. MA would have put a rocket up those players' arses and made them play. I get the feeling LR was more of a stand around and make nice kind of manager. Alright to be a nice guy generally, but seeing him standing up on the touchline completely inanimate and looking like he was waiting for a bus just about summed him up as a football manager. At least Fitz is yelling at players and trying to get them to do something, anything, but the players have lost heart now. Most of our team are confidence players and they don't have any.

You see all sorts of questions asked on here about the club and there are arguments for and against presented by people close to the club and board. So where are the posts defending GD?
What exactly is Greg Dyke actually doing for this club?

Congratulations BU & Dyke

This is the thing that gets to me.

People say if we didnt sell DJ we would have gone into administration, well think if no one did come in for DJ we would have gone into administration anyway.

well it looks like bradford are going down to so valley parrade next season again we will march together again lads stright back up

Congratulations BU & Dyke

I'd like to see you speak to me like that to my face !

May I suggest a management of aggression course...such hostility for using one naughty word...when was the last time butter was able to melt in your mouth?! :D
