I agree, he was the only player who had any sort of imagination on Tuesday night.

Although i would suggest playing him as an attacking midfielder as he puts himself about a bit, making the midfield a little busier??

Brown had a decent game last time out, and we have no better keeper at the club
Starosta has been OK this season...
Lewis has been good, when he finds his way to the ground
Mackie is a liability

Poole needs to produce a 90 minute display, but I'd put him in over Pead

Thorpe's flick-ons are predictable and one-dimensional, time for this new loanee to show us why he caught Butcher/Scott's eye

He's not caught my eye when he's played! Given that Grimsby have a worse record than us and got tonked 0-4 at home, they're going to be playing a 1-8-1 formation. We'll need Thorpe up front to put himself about and players who can break down a massed defence. This won't be a case of dinking-in balls behind their defence for runners, it will be a battle to get through them. Odd bits of skill from Connell and Poole is all we've offered so far this season and is probably our only hope, bar an OG.

He had opportunities to get a decent shot or cross away, yet always flicks at the ball or treats the ball like his worst enemy instead of his best friend.

Les I don`t think he is a forward and didn`t play there for Hereford. I think he is a attacking midfielder.

You'll only see the type of player he is with a proper forward alongside him. Ross is too young to be that player. In another thread you're having a go at our midfield about a lack of creativity yet you don't rate Connell :scratch:

If his creativity comes off, can show strength and he doesn`t drift out of games play him in CM. The fact his he is lightweight, has no end product and goes missing.

However I do accept that he has no decent front striker to play with at BFC, but that goes for Tripe and all thother mis fits.

His goal today was just as good as the Poole goal on wed. The skill he showed to lob the keeper from that angle was world class.

Gillingham can keep thhere pikey hands off Connell. Anyway they couldn't afford him now.

Sorry for my incredulousness , but why would a scout, after seeing a game, and presumably with 90 minutes worth of notes on various players and team play...pop into the nearest, busy pub and ask a complete stranger about our star man ?

Maybe he's not very good at his job... I was rather puzzled too... Gillingham were playing Forest yesterday so he was obviously sent to bees for a reason else he would have stayed for that match...

Connell is under contract so would command a fee. I don't know when it expires, but unless it's soon he wont be going to the debt-riddled Gills, who are knee deep in the brown stuff.
