Considering our position ??

Why is it so quiet on here playing really good football, and getting rave reviews from the pr and commentators with only ten men . Even mancs red are getting more coverage and theve only won one game recently and that wasn't in the league , so just when are we going to start singing from the rafters :wave:

on here?

when we're winning, playing well, and looking good for automatic, there's nothing to complain about.

I live for mid-table mediocrity, despair and beautifully consistent disappointment. Recent form has left me speechless, with nothing to add.

The MOD's have banned and those who get under people's skin when debating

try the promotion race thread, see how many views and replies it has considering no one is bothered

Considering our position ??

This season feels like a season that is here to make up for last season, obviously that is totally wrong but this season to me feels more like a must do rather than a hope we do. Winning promotion is hard but last year's mess up in a crap league has just made this one in a slightly harder season that more essential, I dread to think of this one going wrong, I almost feel owed a good ending for a change, I do realise this is all very selfish but maybe I'm not alone.

I think we are so worried on passed seasons we dread to tempt fate!!! COYB

Considering our position ??

I think a lot has been said about the game last Saturday, and our situation in general. But at the risk of saying the same thin over and over again there is only so much that can be said. Having said all that this is the business end of a season where I feel we are owed one, but just cannot get to the point where I feel relaxed about things, par for the course I guess. Supporters are also very nervous, after all we have so much to lose this season.

Bad news always provokes more reaction.

Considering our position ??

Wait until the next clueless display - the gloom group will soon be back in numbers

Even Barcelona has the odd poor game - so will we in the next eleven - as wolves are at the moment but I am confident of finishing first

Sums it up well.....sadly.

This is a site for whinges, OTT reaction and general doom and gloom....in that respect not a lot of fuel on the fire...less than three points on Saturday and it will be set alight again no problem

I'm sitting here waiting for the ceiling to fall in! It usually does.............

Maybe, just maybe, there is a slim possibility that this time, against all precedent, unlikely as it sounds, however mad it seems.........that ...........no, I can't bring myself to say it unless doing so invokes the ancient hoodoo that shrouds our club.

The match threads are always twice as long when we lose; I'm sure sometimes there's only been 20 posts in 24h following a routine win. Promotion and there'll be tumbleweed...

:imwith:

We're all just waiting for the next game.

What more is there to say, that hasn't already been said? We've had so many 'new' threads started regarding how many points we need, etc. but they all say the same thing...

Typical Brentford - cheating me out of my end of season misery. I have been wallowing in failure for so long I have no idea how to cope with success. I don't include getting promoted from the bottom division either. For two pins I would take the play-offs this season so that we can finally exorcise all the PO horrors of the past. However, there will be brown-trouser moments before the end of this season and possibly a stupid defeat to a rubbish club (usually Stevenage) so there is no point getting excited until it is necessary.

I would also suggest that I've stop thinking and talking so much about Brentford at the moment, you have more to discuss when you have problem areas in the team and how you must win your next 5 and hope that x, y and z mess up which means that we could just scrape the POs, it's all in our hands, we have a good manager, a very good team, a brilliant owner and "we" just simply need to turn up, be noisy and go home with the job being done. The team picks itself at the moment and we don't need much new blood in the squad, it's all a bit amazing at the moment.

I do agree with this. I think we have lost six playoffs and I have seen them all including the final in Cardiff against Stoke and against Crewe at Wembley. Its not just last season. I keep expecting us to mess up, so im still taking everything one game at a time. Even though if we win the league, I get an excellent return on my bet at 14-1 to win the league at the start of the season which will pay for my holiday in june during the world cup. My Grandad used to say that finishing second is no good; but I just want us to go up imho.

I agree with NB....I'd like to wake up and be 3-0 up with five minutes to go knowing a win secures promotion....if we mess this one up I think I'm going to throw in the towel

edited for you!!!

It is finally our time I believe. The infrastructure is right the foundations laid and we are ready and able to cross the finishing line at last.

As MW said in that interview - we need promotion - and we've worked hard enough to earn and deserve it.

I dont want to think about that, I had two people tell me before the Orient game its sh*t or bust as if we dont go up the squad will disband. I not sure thats quite all true but it would hurt us immensely. I think a win tomorrow and a point on Tuesday will help see us get nearer that line. Keep it postive, we are nearly there and I consider that we are in a similar postion to Reading all those years ago under Steve Copell. Ie, new ground being developed, investment in youth and academy plus some excellent technical first team players like Forshaw and Bidwell who are yet to reach their peak.

just when are we going to start singing from the rafters

don't wanna start singing too soon? i have nightmare visions of collapsing from 10pts clear with 5 games to go, it's the only trick we have left i think, so please forgive me, won't be singing til we've got a P by our name. or maybe a C :D

It's summed up by that great John Cleese quote:"It's not the despair... I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand".

Great quote. I always remember R&D in 2003/4 when they were so confident that they'd stay up that they got rid of loads of players. Result: 9 points from their last 22 games and relegation.

That's what I normally expect from us, so let's hope we don't let the LO win convince us that all we have to do to go up is to turn up.

There won't be any need for you to throw in the towel! Even if there was, I bet you wouldn't! :)

well im enjoying every game, i think that 6 wins is enough, and we will get 6 more wins this season.
so win tommorow its 5. loose or draw still 6, but 10 more games, the question is where are we going to get promoted, not will will get promoted, sit back and enjoy, as yazz sung,," the only way is up"

ok another three points today and we are still moving forward. When are some of you going to realise how good we are getting ps stood next to three people today WHO WERE ASKING WHOS THE BREADMAN ?

We know exactly how good we are. But we also know that this is Brentford and we don't always get what is due to us.

Just seen we are 18/1 to win the Play Offs.

My brain just wont allow me to believe we can go up yet.....too much has gone before..no matter how much I know how good we are. And more so when it's currently looking like the Championship will contain Fulscum and QPHAHA..

Because we've been through so much before, that we are trained not to get carried away.

I think everyone is taking it a game at a time/week at a time. As I'm sure all of us are aware of what a tricky 7 days we have from this Tuesday onwards.

yes. post of the day

one shot at a time.....

I think that as each dayweek/match goes by, I am keeping quieter and quieter about it all, because I just don't want to think about what has always seemed impossible for us.
After 60 years I think that I have seen us so close to this before, in so many different situations.
Apart from 91/92, there have been more tears than joy, so am just living this season one game at a time.

There's absolutely nothing to be critical about in terms of the club, the team, the manager, the owner, and everyone else who is working hard to achieve our successful future.
Equally, it is very hard to go over the top about each success, as there is the next critical match just a few days later, and you feel like you could tempt fate by being too full of praise too early!

I feel like someone who has been asked to hold their breath, and is only allowed to breathe when the last whistle goes in the final match.

Agree with comments made by Northampton Bee earlier in this thread.

There is a large number of supporters, who have supported this club through thick and thin, and are now watching the almost unimagineable performances we are seeing - so sometimes it's no wonder we almost become speechless.

I just want it to be 5.00pm, on May 3rd, and we all can be cheering, and I can breathe again!

New post of the day!!!

Agree entirely.....it's just a shame that if we do do it........we can't really enjoy the journey because of all that has gone before.......still maybe that will make the final celebrations all the better.......

COME ON!!!!!!!!!
