Just seen this on the local sports pages on teletext

"Reading defender Steve Brown has told supporters they must be more patient with manager Steve Coppell -

Fans are calling for Coppell to be dismissed following the 5-1 defeat at Rotherham"

9th in the table

Very Sad :D

I think the Pikeys after being there or there abouts for the last few seasons, think they have the devine right to promotion.I dont know the ins and outs , their form has been pretty poor lately and theyve been playing sh*t football.Maybe theres too much money at the club for Sir Steve to work with ?

Coppell

If the pikeys dont want him , we will have you back Steve.

I think you're right Bigbee. He's also taken Owusu for another month as Coppell can't make his mind up about him.

How the mighty fall when they leave Griffin Park :D

Some Reading fans have been after Sir Steve's head virtually since he got there and that Madjetski has bottomless pockets. They haven't really got over Pardew walking out on them.

Oh dear how sad!

Absolutely unbelievable.

You would think that the Royals would have been delighted to accquire Coppell. He has a track record, he got within 15 minutes of thwarting them from automatic promotion when he was here and he has won promotion from that division.

To think we have been demonised for wanting Wally out despite his excellent track record since January 2003.

Agreed, Claire. Some people don't know how lucky they are. If Cureton's shot went wide, they would have someone like Downes in charge, and we'd still have Sir Steve

The Reading fans have been through a lot of good fortune over the last few years and can't remember what it's like to be playing badly. I think Coppell will take this season to settle in but after a pre season in the summer and getting the squad of players playing for him i can see Reading going up next year.

Does anyone know whether Roberto Forzini has joined him yet?

Coppell

I think Steve Coppell is just having the same problem a lot of managers do when a popular manager leaves, especially when it happens in such a public and inappropriate manner.

The players were probably very de-motivated when Pardew left and didn't know where they stood, and so as yet Coppell hasn't been able to exert his undoubtedly talented influence onto the squad.

Reading certainly will not go up this season, and I doubt they will even reach the play offs, but give Coppell the time he needs and deserves and I believe he will take them into the Premiershite within the next three seasons.

Arrogance springs to mind, Reading fans should be patient, Owusu is untested at Divsion1 level as are in general the rest of the squad

I dont see what the problem is. Losing 5-1 to Rotherham was priceless !!!

Coppell is doing a great job !!!

It's a very unpredictabe division where nobody apart from Norwich look the business.Everybody is beating everybody.Who'd had thought when we beat Bristol City 5-1 in our season there in 92/93 we would get relegated losing 4-1 at their place on one of the most miserable days of my life.
I'd swop our club with Reading anyday as to where thay are in the league and so forth.Think themselves lucky they got a good owner unlike the ****** whose left us in debt that he created.

Agree totally and from reading the papers up here and talking to a few Norwich fans Norwich would be very inconsistent without Huckerby.

Wish we had some money for him to spend, we certainly wouldn't bee in the state we are now if that f*****g w****r noades had opened his cheque book!as for the r*****g w*****s they will get to the premiership with stevieboy but not this season and we've got more chance of going up this year than they have of staying in the topflight! Brentford til i die! Only 92hrs n 35mins to go!!

It was 13 minutes. I remember every one of those 780 agonising seconds

It was actual 12 minutes and 32 seconds - not that I am obsessed or haunted by this in any way!
