Countdown to Rio

Now that Rio/ManUre have used all the delaying tactics available to them, i can only assume that as Rio's latest date to appeal against his 8 month ban has been set as 19th January, then that will be the day that the decision to appeal is made known!

Therefore : 12 days to go!

Also, when , not if , there is an appeal, the appeal cannot be heard until the end of February or start of March!
And that is only the first meeting.

What odds on any ban against Rio being reduced to 2 months, June and July and not including International matches?

Taking the p@#s , Moi?

Countdown to Rio

sounds about right to me

i am SICK of the people saying that the FA are "depriving" England of one of our most crucial players (which he's not anyway, but hey!)... Man Utd are looking out for themselves and their constant delaying tactics are what's going to see Ferdinand banned for Euro 2004 - blame them, not the FA!

i say double his ban if the appeal fails (and why the hell will it succeed, exactly?? maybe the briefcase full of money will help change the FA's mind  )

Rubbish. I want Rio playing for England in Portugal.

I'm not a Man Utd fan, but I AM an England fan and want us to win the tournament. Rio is a key squad member.

well, he probably won't be there, a) because he missed a drugs test in September and received an 8-month ban for it, and b) because Man Utd have ****ed the FA about so that that ban won't start until the end of January

John Terry and Jonathan Woodgate are more than able deputies, and arguably better players.

If his appeal fails i say make utd pay all the costs and ban him for the full 2 years. and increase his fine.

6 days to go!

Countdown to Rio

So here we are 4 days to go.

Reported today that the board at ManUre are split on this now.
Their basis - if he doesnt appeal, he will be available in September for the Champions League.

If he appeals and loses he wont be available.

So its based on whether they think he's guilty or not!

Also they might suggest sticking with guilty and going for a reduction.

Countdown to Rio

well he's appealed, but they have opted to begin the ban now (surely an implicit admission of guilt) - i think the official line was so that, if there was a reduction, he would be able to play in Euro 2004. Indeed, if they reduce it to 3 months (i bet they do) then he'll be back for the title run-in and the champions league final. Nice...

Countdown to Rio

good. and funny :D
