Plus they got cained by South Africa and the West Indies who both went out, and had games that didn't finish becuase of rain that may have made a difference.
There is no way they are one of the best 4 teams in the World, but they are one good game, with a bit of luck away from being in the World Cup Final.
I can't give them enough credit for the way they have played, especially the way they bowled and fielded but IMHO they have been lucky with the way the tournament has been organised.

I would tend to agree that it hasn't been very well organised though...but then the ICC is a bit of a joke....they are planning on introducing the USA into the next world cup!!

Kenya are a decent team, certainly good enough to compete with the best and win the odd game, and certainly should be included in the Test nations, if Bangladesh are considered good enough............
However they lack the quality it takes to be a top 4 nation. They have a decent batting order but no-one who goes on to make big scores, I don't think one of their batsmen has got 70+ yet, and they are very liable to collapses, South Africa and West Indies proved that.
Their fielding is excellent, they are all athletic and take some great catches but their bowling also lacks depth, Martin Suji, Odoyo and Collins Obuya are good but past that they can struggle. They also rely too heavily on too few players; Odumbe, Tikolo and Odoyo in particluar.
Maybe I am making rash judgements but can you honestly tell me they are worthy of a place in the last 4?

The tournament could have worked well, had it not been for politics. The idea of the Super Six is good but because teams forfeiting games the desired 6 were not in it

FinchBee i agree to an extent, however it's no fault of Kenya's they r in the semi's...if NZ now go out and it now looks likely, then their gamble not playing in Kenya has backfired.
At the start of the tournament my 4 tips for the semi's were India, Australia, Pakistan and South Africa....2 out of the 4 are there......
N e way aren't the Indian's looking hot, hot and spicy to be precise......we started off slowly but boy are we hitting form at the right time, i think we are the only team who can possibly beat the Aussies!!

Got to be an India-Aus final, unless something rediculous happens.
Two best teams in it, which is the idea. It proves that the very best will still make it but the Super 6 was poor because some of the teams in it weren't good enough.

Australia 152-5 after 38.3 overs.
A decent score, especially on that slow pitch but probably one that will be chaseable, especially if Jayasuriya bats for a while.

I fancy they have got enough there.
Sri Lanka's batting has been a tad inconsistant in this tournament. if Atapattun and Jayasuriya don't score runs then they don't get decent scores.
If they see off the new ball they will probably win, but I think they will be 50-4 or there abouts very soon and it will be all over.

I don't know why on earth the organiser chose Port Elizabeth to stage a semi final. This is the same pitch which hosted the England-Australia and Australia-New Zealand games, both low scoring affairs. Anyway I'd say the game is evenly poised 50-50. The Australians will fight like tigers to defend this target - I think its a similar score the one they made in 1999 at Egbaston in the famous semi final win over South Africa. If Jayasuriya plays his natural game Sri Lanka are in with a shout. Could be a thriller !! god knows we need one after the dismal super six stage.

this one is too close to call...however, if only needs one big innings and Sri Lanka will be thru. As for the Aussies, well they will come out all guns blazing, and if Sri Lanka can only lose about 2 wickets in the first 15 then my money will be on them..The Key player i feel will be Aravinda, if he gets going i can only see one result. The weakness has all been there the whole tournament in that the Aussies have a poor middle order.

Australia in final as a result of D/L......i think thats a disgrace, yes the probably still would have won but at 7.5 runs per over anything is poosible and surely for a semi final they could have played on until 2moro!

This is the 9th game out of 52 played to date where the result has been determined off the field of play either D/L, match tied due to rain or match awarded. A turn off for cricket fans everywhere but how the hell can the ICC expect to sell this as a global sport when the presentation or so cráp.

Ridiculous decision about the D/L for this game.
They do have a reserve day but it only comes into effect if there hasn't been 25 overs a side and then the game is completely restarted.
ie if SL had been 85-9 after 24 overs the game would start anew today, ****ing stupid.
Just shows the whole thing is a cock-up.
You can't argue the right result was reached but still silly.

Well hopefully the Aussies will feel chuffed with themselves again.
Luckworth & Dewis is a stupid way of calculating a result, but there is no other sensible way. What is stupid is that the ICC have put the rules in place regarding the make up of what constitutes a game. Why it is 25 overs a side I dont know ? Surely it should be overs bowled in the game. The game is 100 overs total if 50 are not bowled it does not contsitute a fair game. They should start the whole thing again the next day !!!

wat i cant understand is why arent they finishing the game off today! I remember in the last world cup when England played India and it was moved to the following day to finish the game off.
Under the D/L method, if it has rained when Australia played England and the Aussies were 134/8, then England would have won and thru to the semi's!
To be honest , its pretty a dire world cup, only 3 good games but somehow the best 2 teams should end up in the final!...

That should be more than enough.
Kenya will do well to get anywhere near the score and will probably pray for rain.
Currently 20-1 after 8.2 overs.
They need Otieno and Tikolo, or Odumbe, to bat for a long time if they are to have any chance, but I can't see it.

india won by 100 and were never really worried. srinath, zaheer and nehra have been doing the business all tournament, and ganguly, dravid, tendulkar, sehwag and kaif are all top-notch. is it enough to beat the aussies tho? I'l say yes, India win

Watched the brilliant Australian innings. Ricky Ponting's innings was one of the best I'd ever seen in a one-day game. These Australians are just something else. Got to say that idiot Ganguly made it easy for them, winning the toss on a flat wickets you've got to bat first simple. India's bowlers were a disgrace especially Zaheer. Still their batters are making a fist of it - though the end result is inevitable.

The best team won, India showed by reaching the final that they are the second best but they also showed they don't have the bottle for a battle with Australia.
Bowling first showed a lack of faith in the batting and put too much pressure on the bowling, which crumbled.
They are a good team but I can't see them getting close to Australia unless they improve their mentality, the only way Australia will be caught is if teams take them on head on. England and New Zealand attempted to do this in this WC and got closes to beating them but at the end the bottle went from both teams and the Australians came through.
Never a great tournament, spoiled by withdrawals and silly organisation. Summed up by the rain, yesterday. To replay that game .

I said at the outset that Australia would be too strong and was told they were a spent force. Wish I could find the post now ! 
Found the tournament a let down. 6 weeks was way too long with too many games being played purely to appease the sponsors. I personally got bored once the tournament went into the 'Super Sixes' stage. I would have been happy if once you had the initial group games that you went straight to a k/o scenario.
