Basically one of the regular away supporters was (some would say rather unjustly) invited to spend the evening with the local constabulary and consequently has to spend a lot of his dinner money paying magistrates' expenses.

To be fair he didn't ask anyone to collect money for him and no-one was forced to contribute. Alot of people felt that giving him a conviction was totally over the top hence their desire to help him out. It was a personal thing not a general collection - only those who knew him personally were approached to see if they wanted to contribute which obviously a fair number did. It was also made clear to him that this would not happen again and if he didn't learn his lesson and clean up his act he was on his own.

If anyone who has contributed feels that strongly about it (nocoat) then I suggest you ask him for your money back!!

1. give the money to charity or...
2. put it in the bucket after the next home game

Am I not right in thinking that a gesture like that would show that he has learnt his lesson... presumably if you give him the cash he'll just get himself arressted again after a couple of stellas.....

What a fantastic idea WRB. I do not know, or have any desire to know the criminal known as 'the donny one', but after reading the thread, the only solution surely is to put the money in the bucket and show he has learnt his ways, I would hate for the £190.00 to be used to fuel his obvious alcohol problem.

The lad in question does like a few bevvys, fair enough, but I find it difficult to believe he has the capability to cause a great deal of trouble. He was fined heavily, and to equate a collection amongst friends against donations to the black-hole buckets is ridiculous.

This is absurd. No-one was forced to contribute, they all did so entirely voluntarily and knowing the full circumstances and what the lad in question is like.
